I just saw this at facebook, it is quite shocking, quite offensive, I am not sure why that person is so full of hate… he calls Fort McMurray the *ss h*le of the world.
It is in French, written by a French quebecer, an anti-petrol leftist
If it was not so long I would translate it gladly since French is my first language.
I really don’t understand how that person can be so full of hate. https://jfhotte.com/2016/05/08/fort-mcmurray-le-trou-du-cul-du-monde/
Ooops–sorry, that should read ”here is a reply to Mr. Hotte’s arrogance.”
Before he assesses Alberta, he should maybe check out his own back yard. I hope someone can tell him that!
I know this is only anecdotal, but back in the 1980s when Bombardier opened a new office building on the south shore of Montreal – because their business was “booming”, I was the repair guy for all their 3M printers , and as i would be there for an hour or two I could hear the conversations of the Bombardier office employees.
And what had struck me was how many of them were very incompetent and seemed to have been hired because they were someone’s friend or brother and had no clue on how to do their job.
I say this because I was hearing conversations also at CAE, at Pratt&Whitney and other companies where I was the repair guy for3M reprographic equipment, and it was only at the new Bombardier building that I heard conversations that clearly indicated those people had no clue and had been hired for every reason but competence.
I was only in my 20s back then, but it crossed my mind that one day Bombardier would be in trouble if they kept hiring incompetent people.
Then a few years later another anecdotal “incident ” happened.
I was no longer with 3M and had worked as a technical consultant in machine shop equipment ( I have a degree in engineering ), my girlfriend told me her sister who had been a buyer for a shoe company had applied for a buyer position at Bombardier. The buyer would have to buy mechanical parts for trains and wagons.
I sent my resumé… guess who they called and interviewed twice and who they ignored?
yes the girl who had experience with buying shoes was interviewed twice by Bombardier and almost got the job, while me with my mechanical engineering degree, experience with specialized equipment and experience repairing electro-mechanical equipment and who had gone on training at 3M in Minesota, and who was a weekend mechanic ( I had a second car back then a muscle car ) and who was bilingual ( while she barely could say a few words in English ) I was totally ignored.
The incompetent people at Bombardier figured that a shoe buyer who could not tell a hammer from a screwdriver and who was not bilingual, was more qualified to buy wagon electro-mechanical train and wagon parts than me.
I have always had doubts about Bombardier since then, and it turns out I was right, they are a bunch of idiots who hire other idiots.

Does anyone know the outcome of the illegal raids by the RCMP in High River? Have the confiscated firearms been returned to their rightful owners? Has compensation been paid for damages to property resulting from the illegal seizures? Have the RCMP officers been charged? Have the politicians ordering the seizures been named? This appears to have dropped off the radar by the MSM or…I’m totally out of touch.
Anyone?
‘no useful purpose’. typical leftist slant. there DO very much serve a purpose, and that is to provide tax dodge for those with sufficient funds to justify the involvement of lawyers and accountants and contacts at the international level. whether THAT is right and ethical is a totally different issue.
it is so obvious I need not spell it out but while I am here. the panama papers thing thwarts the leftist socialists from grabbing the taxes instead of the wealthy individual keeping it hidden. whats worse? https://www.thestar.com/news/world/2016/05/09/tax-havens-serve-no-useful-purpose-say-more-than-350-leading-economists.html
The National Firearms Association was collecting signatures for a petition to force the Government to have a formal hearing into the High River gun grab. I believe it may be closed now and will soon be presented to parliament. The NFA continues to pursue this illegal action
through Tony Bernardo, their legal representative. Further info can be found at new.nfa.ca

I hear you loud and clear. My uncle worked for Trans Canada Airlines and later Air Canada. (1957-1987) He was an electronics technician. The same thing happened at Air Canada. If you were Quebec-French and Liberal, the job was yours. The worst story he told me was when he was working in Montreal at the repair shop, they were checking out a DC-8 that had to do a forced landing. The engineer in charge of the project spent the better part of two days sitting in his car with with two union buddies, drinking beer and coming in morning and night to punch the clock. Apparently that was quite a common practice in Quebec and not only at Air Canada.
Of course Mr. Hotte sees Fort Mac as the asshole of the world. He had to work there, and if he didn’t work, he starved.
FORT MCMURRAY, Alta. – RCMP have seized some guns following the fire in Fort McMurray, but won’t be a conducting a mass seizure of firearms like they did after the flood in southern Alberta.
Sgt. John Spaans said Tuesday that officers have taken one or two guns found in public places, but are not going into homes looking for more.
He said he’s not sure if the decision had anything to do with what happened in High River during the floods.
“That’s a decision that came through our unified command. I don’t know the rationale.”
Flood water forced thousands of people from their homes in High River in June 2013. As Mounties searched for people who were stranded in the town, they kicked in doors and took firearms. https://ca.news.yahoo.com/mounties-not-conducting-mass-seizure-firearms-fort-mcmurray-225150872.html?nhp=1

There are thousands of French Quebecois who arrived in Fort Mac and became valuable assets to the project. One knothole like Hotte does not change that. And while we’re on the topic of industrial accomplishment, if any of you are fluent in French (I speak it quite well–writing is not so easy) here is a replay to Mr. Hotte’s arrogance.
