When you’re below the thermocline

with women, what’s a little battery?

I remember the day after Fields accused Lewandowski of grabbing her arm the refrain from Trump fans on Twitter was “Prove it! File a police report or you’re lying.” So she filed a police report. Then the refrain was “It was the other guy standing behind Trump, not Lewandowski!” Then new video came out showing, no, it was Lewandowski. Then the refrain was “He barely touched her. No one could seriously believe this is battery.” So now he’s been charged with battery.

That whole “Never Apologize” thing went stupid, real fast. A quick five minute statement by Lewandowski apologizing and explaining that he was just trying to keep up with Trump would have made the whole thing go away.
Going stupid fast seems to be in the air this season.

  1. Ah yes, our “strong ally Turkey.” You know, the guys arming ISIS and bombing the Kurds (who are actually fighting ISIS), when they aren’t busy trying to ship arms to Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon. That’s “ally” in the same sense that the Saudis are our “friends.” I.e, only in the Orwellian new-speak of government hacks, because, by their actions, neither Turkey nor Saudi Arabia are even close to being actual allies or friends to western civilization.

  2. Of course, there are also the people that just don’t give a sh*t in light of everything else going on today, and the looming possibility of a Hillary Presidency. Like me. I just couldn’t give a sh*t.

  3. I heard that one of Trumps gardeners in Florida pee’d in the pool at the local YMCA, wonder why that didn’t make the MSM?

  4. Police must have solved all the crime because if they spent five minutes on this, it’s too much. I remain totally amazed at all the crime I’ve seen in my life that the cops were too useless to do anything about.

  5. There would have to be some unexpected shock, I suppose.
When everything is an outrage, rage isn’t what it used to be anymore.
It’s all so tiring and banal.

  6. OK … I saw the video. It looks as though he is “swimming” by her to get to Trump. But … what was she saying and doing ? She seems to be in Trumps face, almost assaulting him. What was she saying ? Was she shouting accusations ? And … IF … she didn’t do ANYTHING to provoke this “battery”, then what was his motivation ? an established HATE for her ? What is her theory ?
This is kinda like women reporters in locker rooms who claim sexual harassment, because some stud of a cornerback lets his manhood swing-free in her vicinity.
Buck up sweetie, and get back to me when someone REALLY does you harm. You wanna be treated equal ? OK, what do you think would be happening to a man … if he was showing photographs of his bruised arm ? He would be mocked mercilessly … “Owwwww … I got a papercut, ewwwww that darned meanie” !

  7. If they REALLY wanted to assault her, they’d have chalked Trump 2016 on the sidewalk in front of her domestic lair.

  8. The jerky surveillance video makes it look like movements were quite violent. When seeing the other view, movements are smooth and no-one looks the slightest bit agitated. Not much of an assault. I wonder if the police actually saw the real time video?

  9. That was a wimpy bruise. Maybe the Washington Post reporter brushed against her, who knows?
Michelle Fields is acting like a social justice warrior who wants a payout. Her story isn’t backed by the video.

  10. It’s difficult to see, but if you watch Fields’ motion in the smooth video at gatewaypundit, you can see something caused her to reverse direction, and she ending up walking backwards. If you watch Lewandowski gliding by, you can see he likely grabbed her left arm with his hand and that is what jerked her backwards. You can also see this in the security video.
Now, I think it’s ridiculous to call this battery. She exaggerated severely. I think this is a reporter trying to exact revenge for a perceived slight.

  11. Ah politics. The stupid season. Anything goes.
Maybe I should turn myself in. I grabbed the arm of that women trying to cut the line at the supermarket last week and told her in no uncertain terms to go to the back of the line.
When assault is defined as grabbing someones arm, we are all guilty at some point in our lives. I need a safe space to recover in.
Regardless of how this turns out, it will change no ones mind. Let me repeat. It will change no ones mind.
Although, upon reflection, it may bring more support to Donald Trump by exposing the triviality of the media. Micro assault does not play well with most Americans.

  12. The only thing I can see this video doing is undermining the credibility of the claimant and media who are pimping the story, and as such increasing Trumps support.
This fair skinned chick (who appears to bruise easily) has been given a hell of alot more airtime than the woman reporter who was raped in Tahir square, during the “Arab Spring”. She ought to be embarrassed, but I dont think SJWs feel that emotion.

  13. You got it!
It would be interesting to delve into the reporter’s background. I read that she’s pulled this kind of thing before.

  14. At this point everyone with eyes or ears must acknowledge that Lewandowski grabbed and caused Fields to change direction without her consent. You can debate how violently he grabbed her but the fact contact occurred is as certain as can be at this point. There are at least 2 videos clearly showing the altercation as well as audio during and directly following the event. As such all the requirements for battery according to Florida law have been met.
The issue is not whether this happened but why were charges filed and the simple answer is Trump asked for it, literally. Team Trump and their supporters demanded that Fields file a police report all the while claiming that nothing happened and proceeding to work overtime on assassinating her character.
This all could have been avoided by a simple “Sorry, in the excitement of the crowd I was a bit too enthusiastic in trying to catch up the Donald” tweet by Corey but instead he went into full attack mode along with his boss and their followers. Even on news of the charges Trump can’t stop himself; he’s still attacking Fields.
It’s bad enough when a campaign staffer does something this stupid but anyone whose seen Trump’s tweets today knows it a cancer in his organization that comes from the top down. They are just simply incapable of apologizing and insist on blowing everything up to nuclear proportions.

  15. When I was a lot younger, people used to commit insurance fraud by faking injuries.

  16. Whether this is battery is for the justice system to decide.
It’s clear, however, that Lewandowski did not come clean about his actions when he had the chance. Had he immediately admitted to it and apologized then it would be last week’s news, a minor matter at best. Instead he compounded the error and compounded the damage, doing his boss no favours.

  17. He should have apologized for what?
there was absolutely no violence directed at that woman.
It would be insane to apologize for something that never happened.
That lying woman said in an interview that was one of the most horrific experience in her life.
Something that did not happen was her worst exeperience. Let that sink in for a minute.
If anyone should apologize it is her, she is evil.

  18. That’s what I was thinking, too….Lara Logan was horribly sexually assaulted during the ‘Arab Spring’….and she’s still at her job. Reporters are expected to be tough. Fields didn’t get an apology from Trump’s campaign chief, so she made *herself* the story and Megyn Kelly has assisted. Fields accused the NYPD before, and also Allen West.

  19. Right winger need to take a lesson from the left and hire thugs to do their battery for them.

  20. If you think that constitutes assault, then you are either an idiot or a pussy. Take your pick.

  21. “Going stupid fast seems to be in the air this season.”
This season??!!!. Hows about for the last 100 years,at least.

  22. Trumps campaign manager get charged. Hillary…not so much.
I’m must admit my confusion with Lances continuing posts on Trump. His dislike is palatable.
Does he agree with the GOP that Hillary is preferable?
The polarization of the right on this nomination has already caused me to remove numerous (right wing?) blogs from my favourites list in disgust.
There are going to be disagreements on whom people support. This is expected and natural. However, ongoing vendettas amongst ourselves are just as unseemly as what we accuse the other side of.
After June, we’ll need to coalesce. Let the Americans make their choice without throwing the baby out with the bath water.

  23. “… caused Fields to change direction without her consent…”
Now, I’m no Lawyer, nor do I play one on TV … but is THAT “assault” ? Really ? Whenever anyone causes me to “change direction without (MY) consent” … I can charge them with ASSAULT !?
I was recently on line, waiting to get into an Earthquakes soccer match (hey, all we got is the MLS), and some third-world looking guy came cutting across the line and SMACKED me blindsided in the back. I yelled EXCUSE me! in his direction, and he turned a gave me a look that was uncannily similar to the mug shots I’ve seen of El Chapo, the Mexican Drug Lord. You know, DEAD EYES, looking like he had nothing to live for. I expected he was just another one of the 7 million ILLEGAL Mexicans squatting in CA, and that he knew he was above the law, so I decided NOT to press the issue. But my wife said, later, that he left a little bruise near my kidney. Now that I know … “the law” … says anyone who causes me to “change direction without my consent” can be brought up on charges … I will NO LONGER BE A VICTIM of line pushing. Not at Sports events. Not at Concerts. Nope. From now on, I will exchange personal information (like your average fender-bender) and I will have my lawyer contact his (or her) immigration attorney. I’m gonna INSIST on a “safe space” for me and my loved ones.
And don’t let ANYONE even DARE be a … “close talker” … to me !!! YOU’VE BEEN WARNED !!!

  24. It is amazing how quickly trumpets forget about outdated notions like keeping you f***ing hands to yourself.
“I grabbed the arm of that women trying to cut the line at the supermarket last week and told her in no uncertain terms to go to the back of the line.”
Try grabbing my wife for any perceived slight and you experience the joy of picking up your teeth with broken fingers.
“He should have apologized for what?
there was absolutely no violence directed at that woman.”
For grabbing her, you do not get to do that, really that simple. Yes that rule applies even if it is uncomfortable to a trumpet.
“The polarization of the right on this nomination has already caused me to remove numerous (right wing?) blogs from my favourites list in disgust.”
Of course, it is the fault of anyone but trumpets.
And what right you’re talking about? Since when Trump has anything to with the right? Even his supporters behave (in person and on line) like leftist thugs.

  25. Trump is there to split the vote. That’s his only purpose. Alienate soft conservatives, elect the left. Works every time.

  26. Well, strictly speaking, the merest touch without consent is a battery. You really should keep your hands to yourself, and the more so when dealing with people who might want to take you to court over it. I certainly agree this must have been a very petty incident indeed, but precisely because it was no big deal, it should have been kept no big deal. And it wasn’t. That’s a noteworthy failing.

  27. Yes, I really need an edit button in life.
“Trumpet”? I’m actually hoping for Cruz. I’m simply stating that either Trump or Cruz would be eminently preferable to the boot full of shat currently partying at the White House, or the liar in waiting, or the Communist. The underlying viciousness being directed towards ourselves is sobering. I had naively hoped for better.

  28. So on this i agree with Lance. Lewendowski i would agree should have just said sorry it was unintentional ect ect and put it to bed. Even in light of the new video he is simply pulling her away from trump that she got bruised is probably unintentional on his part he probably grabbed her a bit hard.
She from what i understand supports or supported trump. This is such awaste of space in totalitiy it is really a non issue on both sides and went stupid by everyone involved fox has 5 grown adults debating the grab , the stregth used, the intention, did he specifically target her ,trump is evil , and blah blah blah…..Trump Lewendouski should just say sorry and express that it was not malicious or intentional to harm her. And she along with the retards in the media every single one should just as anna and elsa say “let it go , let it go” .
This again shows the corrupt media on display yet again they are so against trump they cover everything he does witch is free advertising for him they are sinking themselves lol .
    Trump/Cruz 2016

  29. Hm,this reminds me of the Sid Ryan episode when he grabbed the arm of a female Sun-TV reporter as he was being interviewed. Several SDA’ers opined that if he’d grabbed their wife in such a manner, they’d have beat the sh** outta him.
What a f***ing world of pansies we’ve become.

  30. “I was jolted backwards. Someone had grabbed me tightly by the arm and yanked me down. I almost fell to the ground, but was able to maintain my balance. Nonetheless I was shaken. . .”
Lewandowski initially had called her delusional because of her claim that he had yanked her down and that she had almost fell. Have you seen the latest video that came out today? I could not see her almost falling to the ground. I think she owes an apology to CL and she should look for a new line of work, maybe acting?

  31. Jack Layton got away with grabbing a woman in a bar who had the bad manners to get between him and a camera.
Couldn’t be the ole double standard could it?

  32. Xena, I agree. By writing this misleading article on Breitbart, apparently without contacting the accused first, she started the whole thing rolling. The Trump campaign, true to form, responded in kind.

  33. The only option for the media is to upgrade the charges to Rape and then the prosecutors can force a plea bargain, a nice neat political ambush The down side would be if it goes to court and the alleged victim is under oath & has been subjected to Investigative deposition.. All communication contacts ETC.
The real case could be a civil case (big $) against who ever (Rubio) put her up this nonsense. Rubio hopes to get in a back door by slimming both Cruz (Nat Inquirer) & Trump
BTW: Never go down a garden path that others hope you take….easy solutions can be deadly

  34. Sorry, read the byline after I wasted several minutes on this.
“Torpedo Trump” Lance – never mind.

  35. “Jack Layton got away with grabbing a woman in a bar who had the bad manners to get between him and a camera.
Couldn’t be the ole double standard could it?”
Jack Layton got caught being blown by a Chinese hooker and there were no charges and no media. Now what makes you think there is a double standard?

  36. “When assault is defined as grabbing someones arm, we are all guilty at some point in our lives.”
That’s what ‘battery’ is. If you touch somebody with your finger, you can be charged. Harm is not required, just contact.
Do not touch people at the grocery store, no matter what they’re doing. It is fantastically dangerous.
