The GOP needs Trump as the nominee because he doesn’t take any shit from anyone least of all from the Democrats. I watched Romney during one of the debates absolutely wilt in defeat in the face of some nonsensical statements from Obama and the now infamous Candy Crowley. What he needed to do at the time was stop, turn to Crowley, and mushroom cloud the place. What he did was wilt and go silent. I don’t want to watch another wilter. When the Dems start talking nonsense, I want to see mushroom clouds of annihilation.

Yes BobC: When Romney didn’t chastise Crowley during or after the debates, his campaign was lost. She was both out of line and context and thus obviously partisan. He was dead meat from that point forward because he let it stand, so on came the 47% quote and other political blarney. I hope Crowley is long gone, though her lack of journalistic ethics is so widespread it wouldn’t be missed anyway. Up north, too bad Harper let the cabin boy and mediocracy get away with similar crap in our debates. Trump will never make the mistake Harper did; that the voter is smart enough to figure things out. No, they must be spoon fed, led and spoken to in their words, not those of professional politicians, ideologues & rent seekers.
Trump would have crushed Crowley; I kind of wish she will be around this time. Look what happened to Hillary when she played the sexism card. She took a beating for that one and as Trump put it, “had a back weekend.” Now she’s reduced to only racists disagree with her type arguments. He’s just getting started on her; I’m not sure she’s up to the challenge of this experienced street fighter with no fear of exposing her mendacity. Will her health and legal luck hold out under this sustained onslaught from a man renowned for his energy and work ethic? He can handle nine months of 24/7; can Hillary?
He bites back hard and is not at all afraid to go into the gutter with any snipes; he looks strong and thus goes up in the polling (I understand Cruz is really, really angry now). This strong horse is gaining steam. He easily blasted through his so-called ceiling of support in Nevada (cue to: small group, now we’ve really got him now if only others drop out). No he hasn’t run a perfect campaign and perhaps lost himself the IA primary; but he has incredible momentum that reaches into all stratas of society and community, most of whom are sick of establishment politicians with their failure, false narratives and doublespeak, Dems and GOP alike.
BTW Al of Cranbrook, on most of your points I think you are precisely wrong, for the above reasons.

You’re right on the money! Romney jammed out. He didn’t have the stomach to finish off Obama. Trump is rough around the edges, but he’s an alpha male on steroids, which is what is needed NOW.
