Sadly, the free market has determined that Amy’s skills as a comedian, though impressive, are outshone by her ability to sell lies. Yes there are likely thousands, tens of thousands, even perhaps millions of people who would buy her DVD or buy tickets to her shows. But there is MORE demand from (predominantly) overweight women who want to believe that there is something wrong with society and men for liking and being attracted to skinny chicks. Thus why nobody has heard of Amy’s latest comedy tour (if she even has one), but EVERYBODY knows how fat her thighs look.

Check out the movie The Martian and see how ridiculously thin the women are (and they photograph ten pounds heavier than their real skinner selves). Not the astronauts but the NASA administrators and Chinese administrators. Amy is popular because as cohost of an award show she and Tina Fey talked about how an actor lost so many pounds to play someone dying and how this was just routine for women actresses preparing for normal roles.
I disagree with Captain Capitalism on this. Amy Schumer’s not that funny.
One thing I have noticed about the Captain is his certainty that his personal perspective is the only valid view of life.

True story: I was visiting my daughter in LA, and was on a (rental) bike for a long beach ride when I did a double-take on the young woman I had just passed on a Venice backstreet … and it was Amy Schumer ! (Ironically clad in her sweat-outfit, doing a fast-paced walk). Mentally fumbling for something to say … I looked back and yelled, “Amy, I love your work!” … she turned and gave me thumbs up and a smile. Since this WAS ell aaa (where I often run into celebs at Ralph’s) … I just kept riding … not wanting to bother her with a selfie request.
Yes, I agree (and confess) that I DO like her work. … despite her overtly crude sexual themes. She is able to convey a REAL girl next door vibe with a very sharp and acerbic wit. I also agree with the Capt.’s theme about her appeal to those who want to “believe” in pretty little lies. But … including religious faith in with all the other demonstrable lies is quite disturbing. Without going into a long detailed theological discussion, suffice to say that man is created/born with a God gene. We are genetically mapped to perceive a creator. Is there prima facia “evidence” for God like an economic demand curve ? Nope. But there are still so many things that we do NOT YET know about the Universe … about physics … that suggests intelligent people keep an open mind about the character of our spiritual selves. As someone is fond of mocking … “The science is settled” … I suggest that the Capt. remain “open” to the possibility of a creator of the Universe … including even the most hardcore atheists and agnostics.

I think Amy’s management firm, Mosaic, is probably demonstrated why it’s one of the best. As Andrew Breitbart might argue; control the culture and you control the political conversation downstream, and the field of battle is Twitter, Facebook, hollywood, academia, TV, and as of late, comic books. I would assume the Donald knows this in his bones and has his own “Mosaic” running his campaign. We struggle to sell liberty, individual freedom and prosperity to todays population under 40. How sad is that. We shouldn’t strike out at the phenomenon that is Amy Schumer, or the consumers who eat it up… we should learn from it.
If she wasn’t Chuckie Schumers niece she’ be on the county fair circuit.
I don’t know. I am getting sick of the near perfect beauty constantly on display in the media. As if because somebody has scored a 1 in ten thousand in the looks department, he or she will naturally have something interesting to say. Don’t get me wrong, I love female beauty, but listening to a beautiful woman talk just so you can get in her pants can be excruciating. Nobody really is trying to get into Amy’s pants at the movies, but we are there to listen to her talk and make jokes. Also, I think Train Wreck was a pretty positive movie, values wise.
Several points:
1 – Amy is funny and refreshing,
2 – I don’t think she is fat,
3 – I am a senior citizen but still think she is funny, and,
4 – Kaptain Kapitalism is not funny.
