Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

I had an exchange with a man on facebook today who thinks 0bama is doing an excellent job as president.
After all the USA has been through over the last 7 years?
The mind boggles.
The acting mayor of La Loche, Sask., and the member of Parliament for the region are calling for the school in their northern Saskatchewan community to be torn down and rebuilt following a shooting Friday. “I want that school to be rebuilt. Torn down, rebuilt … because of the trauma,”
This is beyond absurd. The incident didn’t happen because of the school building and a new school isn’t going to address the underlying problems with aboriginal youth. It would be better if they used their resources to address the root of the problem which everyone is pretending to ignore. They need to address the conditions in their communities that cause their children to get involved with gangs, drugs, and risky behavior, and usually leave the community and go missing.
This is a predominately aboriginal problem that begins at an early age in aboriginal communities. If these communities spent less money on Chiefs/Mayors and Councilors and more on raising healthy children, then this problem would be solved. The aboriginal communities are the only ones who can fix this and they already get enough money to do it IF they want to.
Don’t feel bad!! I posted a comment that I saw on CBC.Ca today. (Posted as in simply copied what was already on Cbc.) The topic was Uber, the rebel cab company. The comment was allowed to stay at CBC, yet SDA blocked it!! Now that my friend is getting scary!!
I had posted in on Reader Tips at Approx. 10:30 AM CST, Jan. 24-2016.

Woman with children divorces man over leaving coffee cups in the sink. Man writes post saying how wrong he was. Feminists cheer.
It came up on my Facebook feed, and I commented that perhaps this is a frivolous reason to break up a family. My women friends jumped all over me. Am I crazy, or is this nonsense?

Jean: Following the reasoning of the Mayor and MP for the La Loche area, we should tear down the Parliament Buildings as well. For the trauma.

“The aboriginal communities are the only ones who can fix this and they already get enough money to do it IF they want to.”
No amount of money will solve the issue as long as the elephant in the room is ignored.
The treaties are worthless. No treaty between a band and the federal government can legislate away the reality that the aboriginal culture is long gone. It was gone long before the residential schools. It was already changed forever by the time Fort Edmonton was founded. No stone age culture can survive contact with a more modern culture.
The people on reserves are not living in 1415. They are living in 2015. The governance model appropriate for a nomadic, stone-age tribe of hundreds of years ago will not work for people who can go on the internet and see pictures that prove the earth isn’t carried on the back of a giant turtle.
My whole life I’ve watched government after government produce study after study after report after report, and not a damn thing changes. Everyone pretends that the natives can live in little kingdoms ruled by petty kings, tied to the land like serfs but not allowed to actually own a piece of it themselves, and still prosper. They keep pretending because it is lucrative for the petty kings and the bureaucrats who dole out taxpayer cash.
If I was a kid on a rez today, looking at the insanity tolerated as the norm, I’d conclude the only sane response is to get wasted.
As long as you’re on a sax kick, you may as well include some classic Canadian content:

Plainzfyre, some words get caught in the filter, such as ‘insurance’…Considering your topic, that may be the problem.
Almost all the problems in aboriginal communities are due to very bad parenting. Nobody wants to address this root cause of the problems. Everyone just make excuses, and the problems continue. Doing anything to address this would be labelled ‘racist’, and libtards will do anything to avoid being called ‘racist’.
Bad parenting is a symptom.
The root cause is that communism cannot work.
And here we go. Muslim group calls for banning of alcohol and Oktoberfest fest. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3411641/Germans-ban-ALCOHOL-want-prevent-sex-attacks-help-North-Africans-integrate-says-Muslim-group.html#ixzz3xz7iz6hs
The dishes in sink were probably the last straw. Something in men’s DNA let’s them think they can leave things lying around and the cleaning lady Fairy will pick them up. More tolerance for clutter and dirt? Mothers who clean up after them? Who knows? The best is laundry sitting on the stairs that never seems to be carried upstairs though it is in plain sight. Why is that?
This will stop European Islamsick rapists?

“Remember all the recent press about the mild winter, how the bears were waking up early, flowers blooming in December, all a sign of the coming global warming apocalypse?

After the PM’s news cast on Friday I was expecting a rash of comments from all sides on renewed calls for more gun control. In the ensuing silence over the weekend I can only surmise that the ‘evil’ black assault rifle was not used in this slaughter. If any SDA readers can enlighten me on this issue I’d be much obliged.

This is a problem because of the massive IA bureaucracy and the Chiefs, both whom are firmly entrenched in power, both just love their fiefdoms. It does not matter which government is in power, conservative or liberal, IA always runs the show.
What we have in Canada is still apartheid. Although Canada granted the vote to Natives in 1961, Canada’s natives are still kept apart via the Indian Act (1876) which covers governance, land use, healthcare, education, and more. The original Indian Act stipulates how reserves are to be governed and who is an Indian as defined by the Act, which still applies today.
The Indian Act was created out of the the BNA (1867) which gave the Parliament of Canada the legislative jurisdiction for “Indians and lands reserved for the Indians.”
This was included in the BNA because the Indians claimed sovereignty to the land that the British were trying to sell and which is why all Indians and Indian lands are under federal control today. How is a solution to be found when it’s in our DNA so to speak. And of course PET just dragged it right along into the 1982 constitution.

It seems that a reserve kid was teased and he used the absence of his parents as an opportunity to get even with his brothers and those at the school he felt victimized him.
How do gun control measures apply to reserves?

I don’t think the gun control measures applied to reserves. Also think the NWT/Nunavut etc were exempted because no formal reserves but lots of Indians/Inuit who weren’t going to comply anyway (and also pointed out that – in their world – a loaded gun close to hand was a basic safety measure).
We can only hope:

Yeah I can understand that frustration. But why is it that women seem to think that a home renovation takes only 30 minutes or an hour like they see on various TV shows.
It’s all relative. Likely a lot more going on than leaving dirty cups in the sink. Or maybe not since many women think the driveway gets shovelled by the ‘shovel fairy’ or other ‘manly’ obligations are miracles – like the amazing disappearing coffee mug in the sink trick.
Canada’s firearm laws require that firearms not in use must be stored disabled or locked up and the ammunition stored separately. The law also provides for firearms and ammunition being close at hand if the owner is in attendance and predatory wildlife are a viable threat. These laws were specifically crafted to prevent tragedies such as this. It appears that in this case the laws were ignored and not enforced, which is often the case in aboriginal communities. At the very least the owner of the firearm used in this incident should be charged with improper storage.
