  1. Hope he made peace with Don Felder, he was an instrumental member in their heyday, and Frey got cheap with him, and tossed him from the band.

  2. Oh it just had to be that overplayed song, didn’t it?
Where the hell is my axe? Somebody’s gonna pay…

  3. I wonder whether Frey ate his own liver (or colon) at the thought of Felder having stolen his spotlight by writing and performing the greatest Eagles Hit EVER ! Such a big hit that it … almost … paid for all the back alimony and child support the band members owed.

  4. RIP Glen Frey…I’ve loved the Eagles ever since I heard ‘Hotel California’ and ‘New Kid in Town.’

  5. Sigh….. another link with my past is gone.
I saw the Eagles perform live in Calgary’s McMahon Stadium in 1978. They brought so much sound equipment (it was stacked 4 stories high, as I recall) and played so loud that much of NW Calgary heard it. That concert was an item on the CBC’s radio news the next day and there were immediate suggestions that the city bylaws be revised to prevent something like that from happening again.
Still, I, and all the thousands who were in attendance that night, had a good time.

  6. Somebody here was talking about the price of gasoline. The going rate locally is 97 cents per litre. (Southern Vancouver Island.)

  7. Too bad for Canada that neither Trudeau or Notley understand economics.
The one thing most people think they know about economics is wrong
Keynes, personally, is mentioned more frequently than any other economist living or dead. The idea guides government policy around the world and certainly here in Britain.
There is just one little problem: the idea is wrong. And as China — a devout follower of Keynes these days as much as of Marx — falters, it is becoming more and more apparent just how wrong it is.

  8. Well the reality is that leftist politicians ALWAYS seem to remember that Keynes said that governments should prime the pump when the economy is in a big slump….but they always seem to forget that he also said that governments should CUT their spending when the economy is doing well. Leftists argue that governments should “invest” when the economy is doing well…..completely contradicting Keynes.

  9. Yup Chutz, and the cheap diesel too. Seems to have bottomed, so far, at 89.9, at various PetroCans.
93.4 for Reg at Langford Costco.
Great for consumers, not for riggers. Eventually, consumption will rise and the roller coaster will commence again

  10. Alberta’s disastrous renewable electricity plan. Last Friday I gave a talk to the southern Alberta municipalities association on the high cost of the NDP renewable plan. The Lethbridge Herald published a good story on it today.

I encourage all Albertans to write their MLAs and oppose this $50 BILLION boondoggle.
Was happy with the newspaper coverage. Despite one online commenter calling me a dickhead. I’ll get over it. ☺

  11. Why would anyone invite the Just in Trudeau Liberal government to an anti-ISIS conference?
All the anti-ISIS coalition members have stepped up their military commitment.
But not Canada, which under the Trudeau Liberals have announced a retreat.
These world leaders realize Canada elected a teenager for Prime Minister.
In 3 months in office, the Trudeau Liberals have reduced Canada from being a Middle-power to being a lightweight and unreliable ally.
We’ll be lucky if they let us stay in the G-7 and G-20.
Does anyone else think the M.B. influence in cabinet might have something to do with it, too?

  12. Mine too … and it verifies the Spanish guitar roots of the song … Felder was well-aware of the Illegals-Hotel that California already had become in 1976

  13. Our 4 star General Petraeus could have faced felony charges, including lying to FBI investigators,
but was allowed to plead guilty last year to a misdemeanor count of (unauthorized handling of classified information.)
He avoided a prison sentence but received two years probation and a $100,000 fine.
Now they want to humiliate him with a demotion.
    http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2016/01/18/exclusive-pentagon-may-demote-david-petraeus.html

Gen. Petraeus saved the democrats ass during the Iraq surge,
Obummer said he won the war, helped him get reelected..
Now Bills wife, Hillary has comprised/sent thousands of unauthorized classified documents/information to her ass kissing political donating friends.
Those of us that served in the military look forward to her indictments..
    If that should ever happen??

  14. The reason Keynes is popular is that it gives politicians an excuse to stuff money into their pockets and those of their cronies.

  15. Google lists over 10 million results for Hotel California-meaning of the lyrics so whatever one may fancy works.
Spanish version is ok but then you miss out on one of the best electric guitar riffs ever recorded IMO.

  20. No conservative leader picked until May 17th, 2017. Way too late. We need Trump like assertive leadership now and Rona Ambrose is not providing it.

  21. I detect something interesting going on here in AB between the Wild Rose party and QR77 radio in Calgary.
A month or so back QR was interviewing Brian Jean the WR leader and leader of the opposition. At the conclusion of the interview the host asked Jean why none of the Wild Rosers wont consent to do radio interviews with QR host and former WR leader floor crosser Danielle Smith. Jean replied “Danielle who?”
Whoa – the talking heads at QR went into full damage control. So egregious was this slight to their star host that in my opinion they have decided to shun the WR until they capitulate and go on Smith’s show. They don’t understand what the word ‘loyalty’ means in party politics. I’ll bet Smith does.
Since that time there are no interviews with any of the WR.The station has taken to Alberta Party leader Greg Clark for go to opposition interviews. Clark’s a smart guy and is eating WR lunch over this.
None of this hissy fit has hit the media or been admitted to.

  24. I agree,Conservatives are waiting too long to choose a leader. I also think they need O’Leary, he’s their only hope to grab attention. There are more capable people in the Conservative party as opposed to the Liberals but they are not going to give them the spark they need. O’Leary is straight forward, no smarmy blather which we see all too often in politics. I would expect him to tell it like it is, whatever it is and damn the torpedoes…and yes, perhaps he could take a page or two from Trump, people can handle and want to hear the truth.
