In a war between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Saudi Arabia can they both lose?
Yes.
If both regimes are weakened by such a war. Then the Iranian Mullahs would be more easily overthrown domestically. The don’t have majority support now, only military power keeps them in office.
Losing a war is destructive of the Mullahs theological credibility, as their god is then seen to not be on their side.
What would arise from the chaos of Saudi Arabia is an interesting question but the Wahabbi power is due to a political deal with the House of Saud. It that’s broken up so is their power.
