Ya say yer man is trailing in some polls? Ya say it’s 4 AM and you’re waking up in a cold sweat imagining Justin Trudeau rolling his eyes and sighing as Putin takes Baffin Island? Ya say it’s all over, even though the only poll that counts hasn’t been taken yet? Is that’s what’s troubling ya, fellow?
Well, lift your head up high and never give up, never give up… that ship!

  1. A few years ago, a Liberal PM spoke out about immigration. Sadly, the Liberal party of Canada no longer adheres to these principles!
”First of all we must insist that the immigrant that comes here is willing
to become a Canadian and is willing to assimilate our ways, he should be
treated on equal grounds and it would be shameful to discriminate against
such a person for reasons of their beliefs or the place of birth or origin.
But it is the responsibility of that person to become a Canadian in all
aspects of life, nothing else but a Canadian. There can be no divided
allegiance here. Any man who says that he is a Canadian, but tries to
impose his customs and habits upon us, is not a Canadian. We have room for
only one flag, the Canadian flag. There is room for only two languages
here, English and French. And we have room for loyalty, but only one,
loyalty to the Canadian people. We won’t accept anyone, I’m saying anyone,
who will try to impose his religion or his customs on us.”
    Wilfrid Laurier, 1907

  2. I think it is far to soon to panic.
CBC did their report on the election tonight by shamelessly campaigning for the Liberal Party, sick really.
However a draw in the polls means a 5 to 10 point lead to conservatives .
Basic fact check, do you know any conservatives who answer polls?
Remember the polling from the last federal election?
The advance polls show a high number of older voters getting to the polls.
And the poll results favouring the Liberals will have the opposite effect the Media Party is hoping for, the lazy socialist voter will not vote and the disgruntled reform voter will turn out to vote.
I suspect a conservative majority and look forward to liberals heads exploding, the media party insisting the results must be voter fraud and the CBC getting the axe.

  3. john robertson: Polls!
Agreed, and Mainstreet Technologies still show Harper ahead of Trudeau. Instead of throwing our hands up in the air we need to get out there and educate the public!

  4. I saw Justine fart catcher Fife over at “Liberal” HQ (CTV) positively gushing over Justine winning the election next week… according to Fifey its a done deal… Lets face it any country that would elect a retard like Trudozo the clown isn’t much of a country and isn’t worth caring about. Lets put the retard in charge they screamed! It”ll almost be like having a radical lesbian from Ontario running the joint, but way worse. Justine and the Trudozo Party owe the Media Party big time.

  5. John: and about two minutes after the Conservatives win a majority, the socialists will start screaming for proportional representation… and the usual ‘65% of Canadians voted against him!
Sean M: The Libs have already bought and paid for the CBC, through the appointment of two CBC reporters to the Governor-Generals office.

  6. Folks, never give up. Voted today. Never been more proud to put an X next to Conservative. Huge line of voters at the advanced polling station where I voted, not quite sure what to make of that.
But remember, here in BC the pollsters had our last election pegged as follows just two days before the election:
Angus Reid: 45 NDP, 36 Lib
    Ipsos: 45 NDP, 37 lib
    The actual result?
    39.7 NDP, 44.1 Lib

  7. Neutralize the Idiot Vote through….Proportional Representation™!
    Fix the basic flaw in our current version of democracy, with these three easy steps;
    1. Suck oxygen = one vote
    2. Suck O2 AND pay property tax = two votes
    3. Suck O2, AND pay property AND income tax = three votes.
Presto, balance restored between the demand for consumption, and the carrying capacity of production.
For insurance we should add a Constitutional amendment that limits all forms of government to confiscate no more than 30% of GDP in total, with a similarly specific limit on borrowing powers.
No more “passing the buck” to the next generation.

  8. trappedintrudopiasays “Neutralize the Idiot Vote through….Proportional Representation”
No $#@% way! Proportional representation in Europe had given the hammer to the Greens. The threat is always, “pass our bill and we’ll support your budget”, so stupid laws get passed. There is also the routine collapse of coalition governments. I’ve lived in Europe and seen the disaster of proportional representation up close – you don’t want it.

  9. Maybe it is just me, but Ièd like to make a prediction.
I noticed on two TV programs in one evening, that Muslimès were being introduced as integral parts of the character cast. The first was èQuanticoè and the second was èThe Good Wifeè.
Coincidence perhaps. But my suspicious mind suspects that since Hollywood decision makers swim in the same pool, there is in fact a èconcensusè that ènormalizingè Islam through television is the politically correct, liberal thing to do.
I predict we will see much more of this in the year ahead.

  10. Hi Aviator,
Understand your reaction, but please read it, certainly not advocating abolition of the first-past-the-post.
    Quite the opposite in fact.
This common sense version of Proportional Representation is just a small tweak back to a maintainable balance between productive capacity, and consumptive demand.
And all under the attractive marketing label of “Proportional Representation™”
Use the lefts’ own fun-with-words doublespeak, to undermine their evil goals.
    And Antenor, absolutely good point!
    Officially added herewith;
Serving time in jail = NO VOTE

  11. Thank you EBD, you’ve made me cry with that that video. My dad, gone 30 years used to do that routine. “Yuh say it’s 4 a.m. and your kids ain’t come home from school yet? Is that what’s troublin’ yuh fella?”
I’d just turned off the TV from CPAC showing people in Yellowknife/ Whitehorse answering CPAC questions about the election and had come to the conclusion that Canadians are just too damn stupid to deserve a country… so was coming to SDA for a dose of sanity and I got sideswiped with gratitude and memories. Can’t stop crying.

  12. >Proportional Representation
Nope. The point of democracy is not that you can elect your representatives, but that you can kick them back out again when the time comes. FPTP does that far better than PR ever will.

  13. The name “proportional representation” means something different already. I think you’d want to call it something else, or else you’re going to get people rejecting it right off the bat without reading it. Your idea is more along the lines of Heinlein in Starship Troopers, but modified so that anyone who gets to vote now also gets to vote after the change.
I’d call it “enhanced representation”. To restate your idea: all citizens of majority age get a vote. Those who pay property taxes get another ballot. Those who pay income taxes get another ballot. If you are serving time in prison on election day, no ballot.
I’d add one more thing to your idea. Under your system every citizen (except those serving time in prison) would get between one and three ballots. If you’re serving time in the Armed Forces, you get three.

  14. And you can never throw the bums out. The politicians become an eternal political class dancing around coalitions in back rooms. You end up with governments that no one voted for.

  15. Voting for the Trudeau Liberal Cabal is a high risk gamble for several reasons. Trudeau is not a leader, he’s not ready, he never will be, he’s a front man with a crew behind the curtain as clueless as he is.
What it is about the Liberals the media have the hots for isn’t really about the Liberals, it’s all about their unprecedented, blind, misguided hatred for Stephen Harper and Conservatives. They do not care about the security of the country, either economically or the safety of it’s citizens, if they did they wouldn’t be shilling for an empty suit. We will be setting up for a disaster that equals and surpasses Obama’s romp in the US should the media get their wish and have the son of their hero Pierre Trudeau playing the role of PM.We’ll have our very own empty chair, a pig in a poke situation, with no idea who is really running the country.

  16. Exactly right. The prevailing attitude I’m seeing is not “I’m voting [LIB/NDP/???] because I like their platform, it’s ABH “Anybody But Harper”. They’d vote for a half eaten cob of corn if the thought it could win. Frightening…

  17. Yes. And you have to wonder where such hatred cones from. It seems to feed on itself. In my view, Harper has been a particularly good PM — cleaning up sloppy legislation and really streamlining things. Part if the anger stems from leftists no longer controlling the agenda. Most of the people complaining about things like the long form census or the wheat board are not even affected. Some of these issues are symbolic –like the niqab. People I have encountered who are planning to vote Liberal talk about “restoring Democracy”. Voting in the Liberal back room boys is not exactly the way to do that. Such a shame that so many are misguided.

  18. Re: the Wilfrid Laurier quote on immigration. Is it conceivable that Theodore Roosevelt “borrowed” it from Wilfrid Laurier, given that the Laurier quote supposedly dated from 1907 whereas the Roosevelt quote was traced to a letter written in 1919 (according to Snopes)? Although I’ve found no evidence through a quick search on the internet that Laurier actually spoke the words apparently wrongly attributed to him, I did find an interesting Laurier quote:
    https://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/primeministers/h4-4060-e.html
“We have opened our country to the immigrants of the world, we have invited them to come, and as soon as they come by conforming to the laws they obtain full citizenship, and every right we ourselves enjoy we cheerfully give to them.”
And an even more relevant Laurier quote:
    http://canadachannel.ca/canadianbirthdays/index.php/Quotes_by_Prime_Ministers_-_Wilfrid_Laurier
“The great mass of the electors are ignorant, and a great majority of them never read, and remain as much in the dark as to what is going on in this country as if they were residing in Europe.” – letter to Edward Blake, July 10, 1882 Ontario Archives

  19. ‘Folks, never give up. Voted today. Never been more proud to put an X next to Conservative’
Exactly my feelings as 6 members of our family and thier spouses voted for the Conservative. I’ve had trouble getting my family to vote in the past but not this time. Is that a good sign? You donate your cash and place your x and help out where you can. It’s all you can do.

  20. “Never give up” taking on the climate change agenda.
    http://wattsupwiththat.com/2015/10/12/climate-doomsayers-ignore-benefits-of-carbon-dioxide-emissions-now-compiled-in-a-new-report/
“current value of the carbon dioxide fertilisation effect on global crop production is about $140 billion a year, … this additional production has helped reduce hunger and advance human well-being. But the benefits go much further than this. It is not only crops that benefit from this “carbon dioxide fertilisation effect”: almost without exception, the wild places of the Earth have become greener in recent decades, largely as a direct result of carbon dioxide increases. In fact, it has been shown that carbon dioxide can increase plants’ water-use efficiency too, making them more resilient to drought, so that there is a double benefit in arid parts of the world.”

  21. And that is why most likely that countries with the PR system give more power to the bureaucrats which disenfranchises and distances the people from their elected representatives even more.

  22. I still don’t understand the polls. EKOS on the 10th had the Conservatives leading 35.5 to Libs 33.1 to NDP 19.
The NANOS/CTV poll seemingly made up by Barney Fife has Libs 35.7 Cons 28.9 and NDP 24.3
CBC Poll Tracker weighs NANOS/CTV poll above the other polls. Are CTV and CBC campaigning for the Liberals with polls? I suspect the NDP will truly be wiped out. They aren’t even 2nd in any polls. Just the hardcore commie pigs will vote for them.
The traditional Liberals don’t bother me that much but Trudeau is so fricking stupid that I fear for my country.

  23. We are supposed to believe that Nanos daily tracking shows that everyone made up their minds over thanksgiving. I suspect the long weekend skewed responses as more people would have been at home.

  24. “The traditional Liberals don’t bother me that much but Trudeau is so fricking stupid that I fear for my country.”
My sentiments exactly. Anything other than a Conservative majority was giving me palpitations, but an NDP victory would be catastrophic whereas a Liberal win is simply horrific. I have lived through Trudeau Sr., Chretien and Martin so I will probably survive another Liberal government. I still believe that there are a few sensible people within the Liberal ranks who can keep Jr. under control. The NDP … not so much. They are ridden with wackadoodles throughout.
That being said, this is not an admission of defeat. I still believe that the silent majority will show up in droves on Oct. 19, if they haven’t already done so, and give PMSH another majority. The country’s future depends on it.

  25. You mention the use of polls to shout home the media’s anointed. I remember way back over thirty year ago the appendage given to media power. It was the “Band Waggon” effect. The natural inclination for certain citizens to be able to back the winner. I remember the sneers where I worked at a steel plant. “Yew lost your vote” and so on.
Muhammed Fahmy now back in Canada on CTV. “I am not making any endorsement” quoth he. He then damned the PM and the Conservatives for virtually ignoring him. This while held in Egypt. What followed was an endorsement for Mulcair/Trudea.

  26. Mohamed Fadel Fahmy 11:00 press conference
was recently on CBC-TV news (ptu!) and it was a monumental slagging hit piece directed at Mr. Harper. I can’t find a link….Suhanna Marchand (sp) was the newsreader.
If anyone can get the link, please post it. It shows him in a suit on the left side of the screen , looking to the right basically. I have seen another, different presentation he gave which is milder but very critical
Expect more evil set-ups in the next few days. GRRR!

  27. Busted! CNN playing games with Trump by using Jeb Bush backer…
“During an appearance at a Jon Huntsman ‘No Labels’ event, a female audience member named Lauren Batchelder played the role of a female antagonist toward candidate Donald Trump.
However, Ms. Batchelder is not just an average audience member. She’s a paid political operative of the GOP and a paid staff member of Team Jeb Bush:”

  28. A Mohamed Fadel Fahmy denunciation is just confirmation to me that PMSH is on the right track – I expect nothing less. I hope he keeps talking.
His endorsement on the NDP/Libs is also a very good thing – I hope many people see it.

  29. I think all the pollsters give their clients the answers their clients want, or, they have their own agenda and are trying to push the public in a certain direction. I don’t think any of them are honest.

  30. I mostly agree with you, but I think the country was a lot better off before Trudeau sr came to power. We were in a better position to handle his stupidity. Now, that kind of stupidity could be something that we never recover from.

“Climate Negotiators Give Up On Enforceable Paris Deal”
“For all their efforts to get 200 governments to commit to the toughest possible cuts in greenhouse gas emissions, climate negotiators have all but given up on creating a way to penalise those who fall short. The overwhelming view of member states, says Christiana Figueres, head of the U.N. Climate Change Secretariat, is that any agreement “has to be much more collaborative than punitive” – if it is to happen at all. To critics, the absence of a legal stick to enforce compliance is a deep – if not fatal – flaw in the Paris process, especially after all countries agreed in 2011 that an agreement would have some form of “legal force”.”

  35. Ed Minchau, you sir, have fixed another missing link. My shameful oversight of our guys in the Armed Forces.
Indeed they should have three ballots, and they are most deserving. Added herewith, serving time in the Armed Forces, you get three.
I am still partial to the Trojan horse strategy of running it under the “Proportional Representation” banner, but you have a good point and I may have to rethink that.
And now I’m looking for my old copy of Heinlein’s Starship Troopers!
