  1. Re: Lion hunt.
It took a lot of courage to attack a lion with a spear, especially at a time when lions fought back. Much more courage than the idiot from Minnesota who shot a protected and defenseless lion, illegally, from a National Park in Zimbabwe. I wonder how Americans would feel if the tables were reversed, and we lured and shot protected bald eagles along the Canada-USA border.

  2. Well, as long as the lion is killed in order to confirm that you’re “a man” in some way other than merely growing pubic hair, it’s okay, right? Like eating tiger balls to obtain a stiffy. if you’re melanin-enhanced!

“President Obama’s big plan to train friendly Syrian rebels has had a really rough few days. The first 60 American-trained Syrian rebels, part of a group called Division 30, finally went onto the battlefield and almost immediately got attacked by al-Qaeda and suffered a humiliating defeat. According to the Guardian, al-Qaeda fighters killed five US-trained rebels, wounded 18, and kidnapped seven, including the unit’s commander. Half of the American-trained fighters were put out of commission within weeks of hitting the ground.”

Sounds like everyone over there hates the US and our proxies. Which is impossible, now that we elected US President Barack Hussein Obama. They are now supposed to love us. Maybe Obama needs to make another speech in Cairo?

  8. Ah, yes, Cairo. Another place he is no longer welcome. Add to that Kenya and Canada.

  9. I dared to comment on the Facebook picture of the Empire State Building lit up with a photo of Cecil the lion (and other so called endangered species) and I was saddened by the level of negative comments I received. The unprintable ones I am used to but I am gobsmacked by the level of argument these people can summon. One person asked me if I owned the Empire State Building. Here is a typical example:
How is this propaganda? Where were you educated? Perhaps you are one of thev dregs of our society that think only people and pollution matter? Your life must be sad and lonely! The planet is ours to take care of , including the animals. I can’t think of a better place to get the attention of the world regarding the NEED to save these majestic animals, than the empire state bldg In the greatest city in the world!

  10. How about if some anti-hunting idiot gets chased up a tree by a bear and finds our bears came clime trees easly

  11. “bears came clime trees”. Just another example of the sub standard work of the ‘Murrcan education system. Sputtering Blubber has shown his total grasp of the English language once again.

  12. That wasn’t the Masai. It’s a convention of drunken African dentists out on the town.

  13. You neglected to note Palmer’s unmentionable transgression. He shot the lion when PP was about to slide into the news cycle for killing people and selling their body parts.

  14. These types of views and comments come from decades of cultural Marxist brainwashing. They do not realize that the world they seem to want would be an inhumane horror.

  15. Amazing, the only fact you have correct is that the dentist is from Minnesota.
Maybe you should read a book on the subject of safaris and lion hunting. Lions are ‘dangerous game’ a small group of animals that when you shoot them don’t run away like deer, they charge and trample, maul, stomp and eviscerate the hunter. Hunting a wild lion with a crossbow is actually quite dangerous. Dr. Palmer was exposing himself to great danger with only one PH accompanying him, a crossbow has a short range so you have to get very close. Here’s a lion hunt that almost ended badly for the hunters.

As to the legality of it, he paid for the government permits and the guide just like an out-of-province hunter would have to if he wanted to bag a trophy moose in Ontario. Put yourself in his shoes; how would you able to tell that the lion was half-tame or that it had been lured from a wildlife preserve? If I dragged you along with me on a canoe trip north-west of Ottawa would you know if we’re in Algonquin Park or not?

  16. Most of us are willing to put up with some abuse of the English language as long as there’s some thought and substance. It’s lack of thought and substance that make comments like yours a waste of time.
Nothing personal, better luck next time.

  17. When every picture, in every article shows a compound bow next to the dead lion but the media and the people they condition call it a crossbow what does that prove?

  18. Some interesting observation on real life.

Well, for 25 years, I’ve been inhabiting a conservative intellectual universe ….. I’ve participated in debates over liberty versus justice and equality of opportunity versus equality of results …… from the 25,000-foot viewpoint …… looking down into the world, trying to make the world conform to ideas …. my fellow convicts don’t see the world that way at all. They see the world from the ground up ….. the idealistic debates are BS ….. diversions that take away from what really motivates people. And people don’t sit around making decisions about liberty and justice, at least these people don’t. They sit around basically trying to figure out how to get money….. they’re motivated by elemental human passions …. their view is that that’s how the world really works: clever people figure out how to disguise that by talking about ideals …. call it, the Machiavellian view of American politics. Machiavelli says about the ancients that they talk constantly about imaginary republics that have never been known to exist ….. they talk about the way things ought to be, instead of the way they actually are ….. the enlightening thing about being in that world is that it forced me to find out the way things actually are, not the way I want to see, but the America that is here now.

  19. Hunters contribute more for wildlife conservation then do all the animal rights twats around the sales of Hunting licsens and tags the sale of Duck Stamps and such are used in wildlife conservation the animal rights idiots spend their cash on printing their usial anti-hunting crap aimed at school kids and the general public.PETA,HUMANE SOCIETY,GREENPEACE,etc and they can always count on the usial hollywood crowd of idiots to do stupid ads and junk mail stuff for them. In fact one leader of a anti-hunting group sent a letter to supporters reading BAMBI AND YOGI BEAR ARE DEPENDING ON YOU and then their the late Cleavlad Amory this igoramus was a perfect example of a animal rights idiot

  21. via the Atlanta Journal
“AUGUST 2, 2015 LILBURN Claudia Mariela Jurado is shown in the sanctuary of Our Lady of the Americas Catholic Mission in Lilburn Sunday, August 2, 2015. Jurado, a pregnant El Salvadorian woman who has been ordered deported for illegally entering the U.S., has fled to an Atlanta-area Catholic mission, where she is seeking sanctuary with her two young children. Jurado recently cut off the electronic monitoring bracelet immigration authorities had attached to her ankle. She absconded after she was asked to report to them Friday for her removal. Now living in a converted office at Our Lady of the Americas Catholic Mission in Lilburn, Jurado said she left El Salvador because a gang extorted money from her there. A Catholic, she said she will stay at the mission until “God decides” otherwise. ”
What she really meant is”….. until God decides” that the baby is born and is a U.S. citizen. Oh, and she is NOT seeking sanctuary but rather she is being GIVEN sanctuary by the Catholic church. They should be charged with harboring a fugitive.
Harboring a fugitive is against the laws of the U.S. at all levels of government. Why is the law not applied to churches and municipalities in the same way it is applied to private individuals?

  22. Re: Lion Hunt. It’s a side show. People’s minds are made up on the issue and nothing is going to change them. It’s pointless to go on arguing about it.
One truth is that old Cecil’s days of having a pride were over. He was not going to father any my more cubs. He had no lion bitches to hunt for him. He was an outcast, surviving for a while but nature was done with him. Such is the nature of Lion society. In the natural scheme of things, his death by a hunter was the same as his death by any other means…. meaningless. I repeat, he did what he was supposed to do as a young lion but at this point nature was done with him.

  23. Peg Boy, what do you mean by total grasp of the English language? That spurwing can, by use of wild spelling and imagery, produce exceedingly humorous and apt lampoons?

  24. “I do think that social conservatism will be more effective if it is argued in a different language”
He is on target, reverse engineering the issues & identifying the “misdirection points” that allowed the Leftists to control the debate. The left only aim for an effective “stalemate”, not much depth of thought…. once recognized easy to avoid
That is what Trump will bring.. He will see and frame the issues in a new light. Trump comes from a “performance” based decision making process where anticipated results are a “measure” of success.

  25. David, the answer lies in our medieval history. Back then, the Catholic church was very powerful, wealthy and heavily invested in politics.
There were two justice systems, one administered by the king and his nobles (the lords temporal) on their lands and there was canon/ecclesiastical law administered by the church (the lords spiritual) that applied to members of the clergy and church lands. If you were on the lam for say poaching the lords deer and you got to an abbey, church, priory etc you could claim sanctuary. The price you paid for not being hung by the lord was you became a lay brother, essentially an unpaid servant of the church. You might spend the rest of your life milking cows on a grange but you were alive and probably better housed and fed than the average peasant.

Arguing that luring an animal from a protected environment (National Park–Game Preserve etc.) is OK just as long as you don’t know that the lion was protected. Better yet is Colonialista twisting my words. I didn’t write about Eagles being killed by power lines. I wrote about about luring animals illegally from a protected zone, or can’t you read??
