  1. Yup and your savings will not be inflated into oblivion either.
And the dollar will maintain its buying power.
    And unicorns will….

  2. My investments have increased in value every year for the last fifty years; not by much, but always positive, and over the last thirty years, have outperformed my lady’s professionally managed funds. I also make sure I have preserved food and sundries and alternative energy systems. My 1970’s Kawasaki two stroke triple motorcycles burn anything from ethanol to nitromethane and will blow the doors off anything available today for less than a half million dollars. Seven moving parts in the engine.

  3. Money–unlike Captain Dave’s two stroker–is just an electronic blip rapidly rushing from one wire to the next–sometimes over a wireless network–invisible to the naked eye. I was raised in SW Saskatchewan. An old farmer back in the early 1960’s and during the Cuban Missile Crisis walked into a local Credit Union to withdraw all his cash, which at the time amounted to about $30,000. That particular day, the CU had about $3000 cash on hand. They tried to calm him down and explain to him that his money was in the form of security, which at the time would have been tractors, chickens, cattle and farmland. He went totally ballistic, eventually withdrawing all of his money and burying it in glass mason jars coated in grease. Not realizing that the paper was worthless if the dollar fell. Imagine if nuclear war would have broken out (we were within an inch) how useless that cash would have been! A box of .303 Ammo and a good used Lee Enfield would have been the currency of the day! Someday, it will happen. Hang on to that Suzuki!!

  4. Net profit was 5% of gross revenue. That’s a sick horse in my stable.

  5. I am interested in a multi fuel energy source anyone have any tips? i knowthe old deuce and a half will run on diesel, kerosene, gas, and a few other fuel types but i have no roomfor that . i wonder if likea yamaha genrator is worth the investment. i haveasmall 2000 watt one . but thats for camping.

  6. I am very seriously thinking about cashing in all my CSBs and getting into metal – gold, silver, etc; not the stocks, but actual physical metal. Anyone have an recommendations or experiences dealing with it?

  7. Just curious — what other fuels have you actually run it on? Back in high school (’67 – ’70) I knew a guy who tried running hid Yamaha twin jet 100 on diesel because he was tired of mixing oil with the gas. Completely destroyed the engine.
I knew a guy back then who had a Mach III (500cc). Very quick for sure, but there are quite a few bikes from the ’80’s and ’90’s that had pretty impressive performance, too. I had an ’85 Honda V65 Sabre from about 2005 – 2007, and that model was capable of 0 to 60 mph in 3.3 sec. Then you shift to SECOND gear! (Red line was 10,000 rpm which was just over 100 kmph / 62 mph in first gear.)

  8. I stopped contributions to my RRSP mutual funds in 2005 when I early retired. Since Jan 2012 when I starting accurately tracking these funds, the value increased by 60%. I can’t complain. The funds are divided between TD and London Life. I don’t trust myself to do my own investing so I am on the hook for those high administration fees but here they seem to be worth it.

  10. Ignore the first comment, the 60% figure is a mistake. I wish there was a way to edit comments

  11. Sure my RRSP’s have increased their dollar value most every year.
But those dollars buy less every year.
Increasing the money supply decreases what that money is worth.

  12. canuck guy – not to worry, the Toronto Dominion is investing big time out here in Vancouver’s Pride Parade, How you gonna lose on an investment like that? It should be winding its serpentine way down the streets of the West End any day now!
