  1. …..where prosecutors “sought, and received, wide-ranging subpoenas and search warrants for 29 organizations and individuals, seeking millions of documents.”
“The prosecutors treated the targets of their investigation as if they were the members of a dangerous drug cartel or mob operation”
“….they executed search warrants against the personal homes and families of the leaders of these nonprofits in “pre-dawn, armed, paramilitary-style raids in which bright floodlights were used to illuminate the targets’ homes.”
“obtained virtually every document possessed by the [targets] relating to every aspect of their lives, both personal and professional, over a five-year span …..”
“…..demanded that the targets keep the investigation secret, threatening them with prosecution if they revealed what was going on.”
Could have happened every day, done by National Socialists, Socialists, Fascists, Communists…… though from past history can say the communists were more refined, when nobody was watching, people just disappeared, just like that, never to be seen again.
Some got lucky, mom’s uncle was taken around 1945 to the Soviet Union, you must have heard of them, it was the workers’ paradise.
Came back in 1968, was told not to talk about it, or they could arrange an extended stay in the paradise.
    What Soviet Union? Who? Where?
    Yeah.
Sad part is that it happened in the proclaimed land of the free.
Here is the rest of the story.

  2. Some pretty snappy suits in that video. Never see anything like that today, only skin skin skin.

  4. Hard to believe this could go on in a democracy. Oh, wait…we’re talking Obama’s Amerika here.

  5. Irony is looking at the ugly word ‘pulchritude’ and later discovering its meaning.

  6. Oh it was a mistake in translation. Mulcair is OK with the Energy East pipeline as long as we adopt his policies and carbon taxes and other assorted left wing garbage. Just elect him PM then everything will be OK. Sounds like blackmail to me. Good thing it doesn’t matter because the guy hasn’t a snowball’s chance in hell of getting elected by proposing to increase taxes while crushing national productivity:
“Tu ne peux pas approuver Énergie Est” translates literally as “You cannot approve Energy East,” and in the context of the interview it can also be understood as “It’s impossible to approve Energy East.” The key difference here is that the NDP leader has left the door open to approve a west-east pipeline after changes are made to the environmental assessment process. It’s not a promise to reject the pipeline project, as implied by “On est contre ce pipeline.” So the NDP’s position on the Energy East pipeline appears not to have changed and the party still will not say whether an NDP government would approve the pipeline project.
What a load of BS. I’m against it if I don’t get elected but for it if I get elected, along with Kyoto carbon tax/pricing/theft/mismanagement and milking what’s left of the AB oil industry. I look forward to his “clarifications” on his 50%+1 Quebec independence vote position and why he won’t pay back
$2.73million in misappropriated tax dollars. It will probably be something like his “clarification” on corporate tax hikes.
If we elect Angry Tom and the Rent Seekers, we are truly screwed as a nation, but we will have brought in on ourselves by not paying attention, as recently happened in AB, whose rookie joke of a premier just turtled in St John’s by stating Quebec gets to decide/veto what AB does with its oil. God help them and us.

  7. Re: Video!
I like the ”plump” look on some of those ladies!! (Ex: 1:47) That was a lot of exposure for 1926, as compared to the more recent examples of Brazil, Greece or California.
Funny thing. There are 7.5 billion souls on this planet, with two basic models. Yet you can still get arrested for exposing your accessories in public. Like–what harm could be done by walking nude on Portage Avenue??

  8. Imagine a beautiful girl walking on the street in Ottawa, she meets a total stranger. His mane is Howard, He asks her what she’s wearing under the dress, she tells him. He asks for her phone number, she gives it out. Little does she realize that he’s wearing a hidden camera in his glasses. A while later, she finds herself on Youtube, on a site that gives out advice on how to pick up girls. How does she react?? She goes to the CBC!! Samantha DeLenrado, you need help!!

  10. The Trouble With Scientists
How one psychologist is tackling human biases in science.
Sometimes it seems surprising that science functions at all. In 2005, medical science was shaken by a paper with the provocative title “Why most published research findings are false.”1 Written by John Ioannidis, a professor of medicine at Stanford University, it didn’t actually show that any particular result was wrong. Instead, it showed that the statistics of reported positive findings was not consistent with how often one should expect to find them. As Ioannidis concluded more recently, “many published research findings are false or exaggerated, and an estimated 85 percent of research resources are wasted.”2

  11. wallyj:
Brad Wall stole the show at the premier’s meeting. I think Rachel Notley did OK too, at least she doesn’t seem to be the wicked witch that some of us had expected. And she did defend Alberta heart and soul.
Lets go back a few years when Quebec séparatistes were wrapping themselves up in the fleur-de-lys flags and blowing up mailboxes in Montreal. Total insanity fueled by pot, booze and LSD. Yet at the PM meeting this week, Couillard actually behaved as if he was a part of this country.
We still have idiots who have been indoctrinated by the media into believing that crude oil is a deadly poison. Call them liberals, socialists, separatists or activists, misinformation permeates their brains. I think the West Coast breeds a lot of the maggots that drive cars, fly around the country and them condemn the very fuel they burn. Is it the pot or other chemicals they ingest??
Just observe the Nexen oil spill. The mix was bitumen, water and sand. What makes up millions of acres of the environment around Fort Mac. Would we get excited if someone spilled salt water near a beach in BC?? On any given day, the bulk of raw sewage that the City of Ontario dumps into the Great Lakes, every every hour, every day year round would dwarf the Fort Mac spill. When do ever see an article on Ontario or Quebec’s pollution??
I think Brad wall just proved to Canada that Saskatchewan still yields a lot of common sense that is lacking in the East, and on the West Coast. Hope he stays that way!!

  12. I dislike Justin as much as anyone, but I think the beard might be a good idea. Funny how superficial things can make a difference. In thus case he looks more serious.

  13. It’s JustinT’s new “Kris Kristofferson” look. Wait for him to sing.
    Cheers
