Thriftboating

An article appearing on the front page of yesterday’s edition of the New York Times reports that in 2012 Senator Marco Rubio “splurged” on an “extravagant” purchase of a “luxury speedboat.”
Here’s the problem, or at least one of them: Rubio’s “luxury speedboat” is in fact a modest, run-of-the-mill offshore fishing boat, one that’s worth about one-eighty-seventh as much as as John Kerry’s yacht.
Given the scale and nature of Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton’s financing and the almost impenetrable labyrinth of what appear to be multi-million dollar shell games involving the Clinton Foundation, the chump-change focus of the NYT’s failed hit-piece on Rubio falls somewhere between creepy and just plain bizarre:

A review of the Rubio family’s finances…reveals a series of decisions over the past 15 years that experts called imprudent…a penchant to spend heavily on luxury items like the boat and the lease of a $50,000 (Audi)…”

Wowee. The Congressional hearing on the Benghazi debacle didn’t make the front page, but it’s a page 1 story that some “experts” — more than one, mind you — who spoke to NYT reporters deem the Rubios’ lease of a $50,000 car a few years ago “imprudent.”
Oh well. If Rubio ever needs to hide his boat from NYT “reporters” until this all blows over, there’s more than enough room for it in Hillary’s swimming pool.

  1. And this will be front page news at the NYT. No, wait…
The hypocrisy is really stunning, isn’t it?

  2. These reports make the Rubios sound like moderately well-to-do Americans.
That’s a good thing in case the Leonardo DiCaprios, the John Kerrys and the Hillary Clintons of the world forgot.
When Marco Rubio offers aid to Islamist states or lies about an embassy attack, do let one know.

  3. The New York Slimes always expect these liberal leftists news rag to trash any republican this Birdcage Linner/Parrots Toilet is lways supporting the demac-RAT party ALL THE SLUDGE THATS FIT TO PRINT

  4. Hillary’s swimming pool really is frivolous.
If she tried to use it, her walker would drag her straight to the bottom.
