  7. Royal Air force POW in a German prison camp had his right arm amputated after it was almost shot off during his capture.
    He begged the prison Commandant to send his arm back to his mother in Canada.
    The sympathetic Commandant had it packed in dry ice and shipped off to his mother.
    Some weeks later he chopped off his left hand with an ax in order to get out of the cold harsh winter work details.
    Again he begged the Commandant to ship his preserved hand back to his mother.
    His pleas were honored.
    Later the poor bastard really did get his left foot infected from a rat bite and it had to be amputated.
    He asked the prison guard for the Commandants permission to send his foot home.
    The Nazi guard came back and said:
    “Hell No,
    We think you trying to escape.”

    First, it was tattoos.
    Then, what do they call it? “Transgender reassignment surgery?”
    Now, people are chopping off their limbs to “feel better about themselves”.
    And the “expert brainiacs” are trying to tell us that there is no mental disorder here?
    Let me say for the record that there is no better living example that trans-anything is indeed a mental disorder, and we’re not helping these people by feeding them delusions to placate their feelings. Kind of sounds like “false mercy” to me.
    If the trend continues, maybe one day, suicide will no longer be seen as a “pathology”… whatever that means… Oh, wait… You mean… We’re already there?
    We are truly living in the culture of death.

  20. I have this idea that all these peckerectomies and pussyotomies are nothing but self-obsession – specifically, the craving to be noticed. Just another tactic when press coverage wanes, or selfies, facebook, and all that kind of crap just isn’t bringing in the required recognition.
    Jenner’s next trick? I bet he has always felt that he is black. That’ll get him back on the TV spit, snot, and drivel circuit once the limelight from this pathetic escapade fades.

  21. @oldwhiteguy: That’s what it comes down to doesn’t it. Mental illness. Seems there is more and more of it everyday. Soon the phrase “mentally ill” will be considered politically incorrect and banished from speech and writing…… or at least require a “trigger warning”.

  25. Niles, “transablism” is surely some form of pathology, but I wonder whether it is a form of mental illness. I’m reluctant to concede the point, since that diagnosis brings with it an excuse, and because I think there is another, more serious form of pathology at work.
    Several generations of our youths have grown up being told by their teachers and their culture at large that their identity—what class they belong to—is the most important thing about them. Moreover, they’ve been taught that each of them is so powerfully autonomous in this respect that nothing, not human nature, not biology, nor any metaphysics of any kind can restrict their choices. Personal identity is like a suit of clothes, and each of us is free to dress anew each morning, if the spirit so moves us.
    However, in what passes unnoticed as a contradiction, they’ve also been warned to choose their identity wisely, for, were they to choose to be a white man, for instance, they will be condemned as the worst sort of morel criminal. Better to select, therefore, an identity that comes with impeccable moral credential and the perks that go with it! Thus the spectacle of modern young men and women vying to cast off the identity that has been imposed upon them while they were mere youth-vitims and choosing, instead, to identify as a member of an oppressed class—-a Palestinian refugee, a woman oppressed by her male biology and heroically struggling to, with the help of modern medicine, liberate her inner woman, and so on. Thus also, the modern spectacle of assorted “women” competing with one another over who—is it the biological woman, the transgendered woman, the confused and questioning not-quite-yet woman victimized by her uncertainty so that s/he has no identity?—is the more oppressed and therefore has the better moral credentials and the consequent higher status.
    And now, transablism, not an entirely new phenomenon, but now ascended to the ranks of a subject for academic scholarship (by someone in “Narrative Studies”, forsooth. Transablism Studies is coming to a university near you.), where we will learn, no doubt, that it’s an entirely respectable practice, just like trans-sexualism, for it liberates its practitioners from the tyranny of being a disabled person trapped in an able body. And in that liberation, transablism, with a nice bit of conceptual jujitsu, will bestow upon its practitioners the impeccable moral credentials of a physical victim, now forever freed from the responsibilities of the able-bodied to fend for themselves, and entitled to all the entitlements of the disabled. And, we are told, in their endeavour to make self-disabling respectable, they will seek to have it added to the DSM list of pathologies, which recognition will mean, ironically, that it is not really pathological at all, but just another beautiful thread in life’s rich tapestry, just like all the other mental “illnesses”.
    So: Cultural pathology.

    One day homicide will no longer been seen as a pathology or as anti-social behaviour. Some groups in society already seem to be embracing homicide and other violent behaviours as normal while government winks at this mass trend.
    They’re willing to cut their own body parts off to feel good, THINK about what they might do to YOU.

  32. Sid – I know how you’re feeling. Still, I don’t think many care if he becomes a woman, but why the big brash show, about it all? Methinks this is more about even more money and flashy fame. Why appear in a “bustier”? Did I spell that right?

  34. The ‘trannies’ are strange enough. Stranger are the groupies that are obsessed and ga-ga over the Kardashian’s and Caitlyn (with a C)…calling him brave, and so happy for him, so interested in his journey .
    I am continually identifying with the child in The Emperor’s New Clothes…but then labelled close minded.

  36. Not at all… I suspect we’ll see it competing in women’s events before too long. Admittedly it waited a bit long. Had it gone for the gusto in its mid thirties it would have cleaned up.
