I quite like what they’re doing in Europe and it’s worth studying it carefully as we think about Canadian policy. Hard cap on emissions, to price carbon…getting out of coal….getting fossil-fueled cars out of our cities…” — Rachel Notley’s newly-appointed chief of staff, during the NDP leadership debate.

“Levant calls Topp “a bit of an NDP mercenary.” Most recently, he ran Adrian Dix’s failed “no pipelines” campaign in BC. That’s in line with his personal philosophy, as you’ll see from this video.
Is an anti-oil, anti-Alberta radical really the best choice for Notley’s chief of staff?”

Saida Grundy is an incoming assistant professor of sociology and African-American studies at Boston University who identifies as a “feminist sociologist of race and ethnicity,” according to her bio on the school’s website.
Her tweets started to go viral after they were noticed by the website SoCawlege.com.
Grundy has since made her account private, but some of her tweets were captured and tweeted by other users and conservative news sites.
In one tweet, Grundy said she believes “white america” is failing to see the problem with its young college-aged males.
    It gets worse….

  4. It seems there is a move afoot to make the word ‘thug’ synonymous with the N-word, and essentially outlaw it out of existence within the English language.
I would suggest that after the word ‘thug’ is blacklisted, then they’ll go after the word ‘teens’. It seems that all the black thug inner-city violence these days is committed by ‘teens’. Sooner or later, the general public is going to catch on and realize that ‘teens’ is synonymous with ‘thugs’ which, in turn, is synonymous with the N-Word.
Alas, I love language. Always evolving, always surprising.

  5. There will always be the next word – goon, punk, hooligan, and we will always know EXACTLY what they mean.

5% PST because oil prices are low.
8% next budget because we shouldn’t use oil.
10% later because we should be equal to the other provinces.
    We are screwed.

    That’s the ticket to wealth.

  8. I wonder if Albertans will now come out of their playoff fever, having to accept their Calgary Flames were eliminated, now bleating (like sheep to slaughter I mean) – “what was that, we elected the f*****n NDP?” No wait, there’s overtime, we get a shootout right?
Wrong. Sorry from all of us, truly; but it’s reality – you did that – it’s not a bad dream. Not yet.

    2. “As for Ontario, the Kathleen Wynne government predicts a return to balance in two years, after piling up deficits of about $10-billion last year and $8-billion this year. Ontario’s debt burden is worsening all the time, courtesy of many more years in deficit than surplus.”
    3. “Meanwhile, the PBO predicts clear fiscal sailing for Ottawa.”

Complaints about document shredding by outgoing PCs are surfacing. Pretty minor stuff when one considers how Alberta’s freedoms will be shredded by the ideologically driven dippers. Marxist cognitive dissonance in action – equality is not freedom. Notley’s appointment of Brian Topp as chief of staff is a harbinger of our future.

  16. Ohbummer: “‘People don’t like being poor. It’s time-consuming. It’s stressful. It’s hard. And so over time, families frayed. Men who could not get jobs left. Mothers who are single are not able to read as much to their kids. So all that was happening 40 years ago to African-Americans,’ the president said. ‘And now what we’re seeing is that those same trends have accelerated and they’re spreading to the broader community.'”
There’s actually a lot of truth in this. The problem is that the spreading poverty is happening after decades of “social programs” that are supposed to alleviate poverty but instead mostly make things worse for everyone in the longer term. The minimum wage for example creates unemployment, especially among the young and the lower classes, and government “investment” (which the president referred to just before the quote above) usually distorts the market and interferes with the voluntary trade of value-for-value that is necessary for an expanding economy with higher standards of living rather than a collapsing economy with spreading deprivation. The leftists usually try not to admit it but spreading deprivation is their goal, and they attempt to demoralize the public and induce feelings of guilt by denouncing “wealth” in order to get people accustomed to the idea of deprivation.
The most important thing to remember is that the economic problems are not cause by capitalism but by government intervention that mucks it up.
