Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

How three million Germans died after VE Day
MacDonogh argues that the months that followed May 1945 brought no peace to the shattered skeleton of Hitler’s Reich, but suffering even worse than the destruction wrought by the war. After the atrocities that the Nazis had visited on Europe, some degree of justified vengeance by their victims was inevitable, but the appalling bestialities that MacDonogh documents so soberly went far beyond that. The first 200 pages of his brave book are an almost unbearable chronicle of human suffering.
His best estimate is that some three million Germans died unnecessarily after the official end of hostilities. A million soldiers vanished before they could creep back to the holes that had been their homes. The majority of them died in Soviet captivity (of the 90,000 who surrendered at Stalingrad, only 5,000 eventually came home) but, shamingly, many thousands perished as prisoners of the Anglo-Americans. Herded into cages along the Rhine, with no shelter and very little food, they dropped like flies. Others, more fortunate, toiled as slave labour in a score of Allied countries, often for years. Incredibly, some Germans were still being held in Russia as late as 1979.
The two million German civilians who died were largely the old, women and children: victims of disease, cold, hunger, suicide – and mass murder.
Apart from the well-known repeated rape of virtually every girl and woman unlucky enough to be in the Soviet occupation zones, perhaps the most shocking outrage recorded by MacDonogh – for the first time in English – is the slaughter of a quarter of a million Sudeten Germans by their vengeful Czech compatriots. The survivors of this ethnic cleansing, naked and shivering, were pitched across the border, never to return to their homes. Similar scenes were seen across Poland, Silesia and East Prussia as age-old German communities were brutally expunged.

Whadda ya mean “shamingly”? In the immortal words of John Wayne, “They shot first”.
The Krauts really messed up my family. Uncles killed, uncles wounded so badly that it affected the rest of their lives, Father-in-law ditto, womenfolk upset and disturbed for the rest of their lives, kids affected by their father’s absence/death. The Krauts that put on uniforms and the Krauts that backed Hitler all deserved everything they got and as lot more as well. So-called “Master Race” Bastards! The Russians called them “German Devils” which is an insult to Devils.
I just wish that heaps more bad stuff had come their way from both East and West.
The United Nations just bringing on the type of World Goverment Hitler wanted Obama and the rest of the world leaders pushing hitlers vion of World Goverment
70 years on and I’m of the opinion now that we should have just stayed out of the Euro war and let Hitler have Europe.
Think about it, Europe is still a fascist dictatorship today with the EU. Hitler would have kept the USSR in check, and doubtfully without “the bomb”. Vietnam and the Korean war most probably wouldn’t have happened or would have been an American success, and Islam would not be the threat that it is today.
Would Israel still have existed? No idea, but in the end the world for North America wouldn’t have looked any worse than what it’s become. Allot of good men would have raised allot of good Canadian families.
The same goes for the UK as does France and Italy, the only difference is that it would have been far less Islamic and Liberal along with far less control on the political and banking strings of Canada.
Japan was another story.
We were absolutely right to defeat Hitler and Nazism.
In honour of VE-Day and the Canadian liberation of the Netherlands, I have been flying the old Canadian Red Ensign over the last few days.
Somethings like 9-11 demand a response. Hitlers actions also did
The results were probably not what the west wanted, Churchill for one recognizing the communist take over of the east but most of the west was war weary. To weary to run through the endless bounds of the USSR

“We were absolutely right to defeat Hitler and Nazism”
I’m just playing Devil’s Advocate, but at the end of the day we now have nearly a quarter of Europe acting as a pseudo Islamic State, while the other three quarters plays Globalist Socialist masters of the world. We all know what happens when the Islamic State gains full control, and they’re gaining, no one in Europe is stopping them.
Was the loss of Hitler’s regime any more beneficial to Russia than Stalin’s Reign of Terror, or Japans defeat any less brutal for China than Mao’s Revolution?
To tell ya the truth, I believe that Hitler would have eventually rolled across Russia suffering great losses to eventually collide with the Japanese Imperial Army in China.
Had the North American Armies waited defending the west coast, they could have then gone in and cleaned house militarily, especially utilizing well developed nukes. Nukes that no one else had at the time or would have developed thereafter as Stalin eventually did.
The potential temporary loss of the UK would have been of little consequence to the west.
Libtards never tire of spreading history revision do they?
The Soviets did indeed kill many German soldiers in their camps, but ay
assertion the rest of the allies engaged in the activities listed in the
first pose is pure BOVINE SCATOLOGY!
PS Gotta start proofreading before posting.
I forgot to add that I never observe VJ day. I do however celebrate August
6 and 9 with several pints of Budweiser. Those were the days the Japanese
learned the most important lesson in all of human history: Don’t f*&k with
America!”
Interesting to theorise as Hitler would have been dead by 1960 at the latest and most of his inner circle along with him. Perhaps more moderates would have built a far different Europe than Hitler envisioned and the communist regime would have never taken over to terrorize much of the world in the same fashion under a different flag. The Jews would also survive as enough had escaped Germany and Poland to spread the seed, although the ones in concentration camps would have been doomed. Israel would probably not exist today as the concentration of 7 million would be far less had Germany won, but there are almost as many Jews in New York, so the blood lines would survive. I doubt if we would have turmoil in the middle east or any significant Muslim problems today either. Endless speculation in what kind of world we would have today, but I do know one thing, Iran would not be this close to having its own nukes, China would not dominate the world and the free nations still standing would not be generating weenies, whingers and wingnuts from our higher halls of learning. There’s a best selling book just waiting to be discovered in here somewhere. Could spend a whole day wondering, “what if”………. We will never know, but the same black clouds are on the horizon and this time we face enemies without the intelligence, reason or ancestral compatibility we had with the Germans. The Jews were Hitler’s personal passion. Hard to say if it would have had a lasting effect once he was gone. Today’s Muslims would continue Hitler’s vendetta against Jews if given a chance. Hitler was one man. Muslims are legion. 70 years later ugly is still ugly and world peace is more remote than ever. If the Germans had won……….who knows ??

Well said and thought out.
Yes it’s hard to say, but interesting speculation nonetheless.
To mention, we also now live in a world of “dirty bombs” and biological threats that many of the same Islamic extremists have potential access to. Potentially supplied by the Russians, Chinese, Pakistanis etcetera…
“The potential temporary loss of the UK would have been of little consequence to the west.”
As I had family members from both Canada and the UK involved in WWII – and one of those on the UK side lost his home in the blitz courtesy of Herr Hitler, I barely know how to respond to your nonsense.
Ah! I’ve got it. Henceforth, I’ll just ignore all your diatribes and toss them in my special bin labelled: “NME666 AND OTHER DRIVEL.”
Wow, so Comrade Stalin murders hundreds of thousands of Germans and that’s the fault of “the Allies”.
1. Soviet barbarism was carried out with US support (think Lend-Lease for instance).
2. Appeasement of the USSR continued even after VE.
The eco-wackos would never have allowed for the invasion of Normandy they would be afraid some bug would get squished and some liberal activists judge would have blocked the invasion over the silly fears of these granola muncher’s/tree huggers
So now according to the leftist moonbats, lend lease was a wink and a nod for mass murder?
What color is the sky in the Bizarro world that liberals live in? Have any of these freaking
idiots ever read a history book?
In a thousand years of British history, alliances shifted all the time. It was not uncommon
for an ally to become an enemy and an enemy to become an ally in the same conflict. The
Soviet Union was an example of the Arab proverb “The enemy of my enemy is my friend.” We
knew about the Soviet terror famine, the purges and the genocides long before WWII. Yes
we climbed into bed with Stalin, but only because the existence of the civilized world
was at stake between the Nazis and Imperial Japan.
60 to 85 million dead (25 to 30 million Soviet.) We would have made a deal with the Devil
himself! Some people are too freaking stupid to breathe!

Sorry for the duplicate, it appeared that the first post did not take.
No lefties ignore history…
In fact our own Supreme Court of Canada issued the Carter decision on euthanasia to mark the 70th anniversary of VE Day to underscore why you don’t let doctors become killers.

When you let people ice other’s for a fee; this is known as the ‘assassin’s business model’.
Of course the Nazis started their killing spree of some 50-60 million, with euthanasia.
Another masterstroke by the ‘intelligentsia’ who don’t learn from history.
Cheers

That Hitler and Stalin were not destroyed at once is one of humanity’s greatest failings.
A tyrant is a tyrant is a tyrant.
Ask anyone who survived these tyrants how they feel about being alive.
On the 50th anniversary of D-Day, I asked my mother and aunt where their husbands and brothers were. Dad was easy: he had passed out second in his class and ended up as an RCAF instructor (a rare example of the military fitting a square peg in a square hole, as Dad turned out to be a great teacher). The rest of the family males? Don’t think they were involved in D-Day, but they were certainly involved in the fighting over the next year: we had a padre, a mechanic, and a front-line soldier over there.
Same with my husband’s side: his dad and paternal uncles all worked at the local smelter, which was definitely an essential industry during the war (had my aunt’s husband – my Dad’s brother-in-law – working there one summer as well). But the maternal uncles: one was in the army and wounded at Ortona; the other served in the merchant marine, working in the engine rooms of freighters.
All our men came back, for which I and the rest of the family are grateful. And, on this anniversary, I give thanks for their bravery and their willingness to fight for what they knew was right.
Joe Stalin had his loyal little propeganists and news flop Walter Duranty to cover up his war crimes and attrocities in the ukraine
Of course Hitler would have stopped himself if not stopped by the Allies. Of course Putin will stop himself. Of course the AB NDP won’t go hard left. Of course Khadr has renounced terrorism. Of course the middle class is in crisis. That’s it for the top 5 memes of the week.
Great points Hans. I have made a few general observations in my life that may apply to the subject of
your post;
One is that you can draw a direct line from the modern philosophers starting about 200 years ago to
Darwin, to the Eugenics movement, to communism, socialism, Nazism, and other collectivist political
ideologies, to mass murder and genocide, to contemporary liberalism.
First, you assert there is no objective truth or reality. This gives one a license to commit academic
and scientific fraud. I often say that the moderns developed their crackpot philosophies because
all the good ideas had already been thunk. Along comes Darwin with a theory that tells the world
that humans are no better than animals. Within decades, we see the rise of political movements
that assert that humans are just a cog in the machine of the state and as a mere animal, is easily
expendable.
From there you connect the dots to the Eugenics movement and Margarete Sanger and her abortion
movement to Stalin, to Hitler, to the terror famine, gulags, the Nazi death camps, genocide and on
to contemporary liberalism and the Democrat party. Ingrid Newkirk’s quote “A rat is a pig is a dog
is a boy” could have been from Darwin, Stalin or Hitler.
Having this general idea in my head for decades, I made a more recent observation when I looked
up David Ricardo (18th century British economist.) Wikipedia has a fantastic feature in that it
lists the people the subject influence and who the subject influenced. I spent about an hour
constructing a family tree in my mind that included the moderns, Darwin, the Eugenicists,
communists, fascists, every mass murdering villain of the 20th century to the modern
liberal movement. Wikipedia for some reason does not show this information on Hitler,
who I know was influenced by Darwin and the German moderns.
There were so many commonalities in this informal surfing session it looked like a family tree
in Afghanistan or the Ozark Mountains! It could make for a nice research paper in a Poly-Sci
class for a conservative student who does not mind getting a D from his liberal professor.
I could have made this a lot shorter by simply saying that liberals are intellectually lazy and
can be counted on fall for stupid shit every single time!

Another problem with the post. I do not know what is going on here, but I am having to post several times in order
to get one to take. When it does, it does not appear as is normal which leads me to try it again , resulting
in double posts.
Also I failed to properly proof read my last post thanks to an abundance of Budweiser. It should read:

the subject.
For some things Wiki is good but one should always take the “facts” with a grain of salt until verified through other sources. Political and climate change “facts” are vulnerable to say the least.
