  1. Ezra Levant, Special to Financial Post: “Albertans wanted a broom, not a hammer and sickle”
    Excerpt:

…And indeed, the moment (Prentice) became leader, the PCs returned to first place – seven polls in a row showed them headed towards another majority government. The NDP were stuck in third place, in the mid-teens. Any rage the province had felt towards Premier Alison Redford left when she did.

But then, the inexplicable. Prentice met secretly with the Wildrose opposition leader, Danielle Smith, and convinced her to defect to the PCs, along with most of her caucus. It was a shocking, undemocratic move with no convincing good faith rationale. Prentice already had a majority; already was leading in the polls. It was cheating – a brazen attempt to remove what little opposition and scrutiny the PCs faced, when accountability and trust was already a sore point.

    The whole thing here.

  2. And now Alberta, next four years upcoming, featuring….Notley Crew!!!
    Wear it. You bought it!
What the hell were you (not) thinking??

  3. Less than 24 hours after an NDP victory, a scandal involving a 26 year old NDP MLA is already evolving!! When I tried to open the story on CBC.Ca, for some reason, the site was experiencing ”technical difficulties.” Ya–right!!
Check it out for yourself: http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/deborah-drever-s-social-media-posts-touch-off-twitter-chatter-1.3064275

  4. Compare and contrast:
“It’s not only religious liberty that will be threatened, but future redefinitions of marriage will also be demanded. If “equality” requires redefining marriage in all fifty states to include same-sex couples, what else does “equality” require? If the fundamental right to marry is simply about consenting adult romance and caregiving, what limits could the state ever place on it? Justice Alito posed an important hypothetical, saying, “a group consisting of two men and two women apply for a marriage license. Would there be any ground for denying them a license?””

The Green Party leader was responding to a question from a man living with his two boyfriends in a polyamorous relationship in London on Friday.”

  5. I know there are a lot of sad people in Alberta tonight! Hell, I’m from Saskatchewan, and I feel like crying. But sometimes we have to say goodbye in order that we may come back later on.
Back in the 1980’s, I used to watch ”Dallas.” My favorite actress was Audrey Landers, who played the part of Afton Cooper and who would later on become a prolific singer. Enjoy this song about saying goodbye, and trust me that before long you will boot the NDP out of there!

  7. Stephen Harper takes a stand for persecuted Muslims, six months prior to Federal Elections.

Canada’s religion envoy denounces persecution of Myanmar Muslims
“There is prejudice that exists towards Muslims throughout the country. This is an ongoing challenge not only for Rohingya Muslims, but the situation facing them is particularly acute.”

  8. “But this is the Alberta NDP, they are not like the others…..”
It’s dumbfounding to listen to the sheep and naive snowflakes who keep deluding themselves, somehow thinking that this group of SJW eco-bandits will be any different than any other edition of the travellers.
People should shake in their boots when they see Angry Tom’s cheshire grin, however, on the other hand, let them feel the pain.
Have Notley used the same weasel words we’ve heard before from other Dip regimes, as they talk about “working with industry” and “reaching out”, “consulting”, etc………in other words, Watch out, there’s a new junta in town.

“Locally, the Union of Indian Chiefs say the bill will infringe on Indigenous rights as the bill “radically and dangerously” expands the power for national security agencies.
The maker of the popular web browser Firefox also spoke out about the bill, calling it “aggressive” and “problematic”.”

  10. @Rizwan
Not sure what your point is, but the fact that you indicate “6 months prior to elections” indicates a particularly cynical view of Mr. Harpers perspective. Mr. Harper has always been particularly critical of persecution of any group – including Muslims anywhere in the world. For the most part also, the reader of SDA have been open minded to Muslims.
PM Harper has in the past, also warned of extremist Islamic influence and activity here in Canada.
    So, your comment is mendacious.

Luckily he’s not a threat to public safety assuming he’s not a terrorist that is.

  13. they should staple it to Omar Khadr’s forehead or his lawyer’s forehead .

  14. The NDP is in, Omar is out.
We are living in a bizarro world.
The CBC is supposedly giving sweet little Omar some airtime this afternoon. Maybe he and his POS lawyer can call PM Harper a bigot in harmony. The CBC would love it.

  15. ” “We believe dying by the hand of your enemy because you believe in… you’re doing it in the way of Allah, that it’s the best way to die,” Zaynab told CBC. “My father had always wished that he would be killed… he would be killed for the sake of Allah. I remember when we were very young he would say, if you guys love me, pray for me that I get jihaded, which is killed.”
” “He’d been bombarded for hours. Three of his friends who were with him had been killed. He was the only sole survivor,” Zaynab says. “What do you expect him to do, come up with his hands in the air? I mean it’s a war. They’re shooting at him. Why can’t he shoot at you? If you killed three, why can’t he kill one? Why is it, why does nobody say you killed three of his friends? Why does everybody say you killed an American soldier? Big deal.”
“Ahmed Said Khadr’s 14-year-old son, Karim, lies in the military hospital in Rawalpindi, shot in the spine in the same battle that killed his father. He is paralysed from the waist down.”
” Maha would be happy if her children died the same way. “You know we are promised that we go to heaven,” she says.’
Just a few quotes from a CBC article back in 2004. Not one mention of him being a ‘child soldier’.
This was when the Liberals were in power and Omar was a young terrorist. He didn’t become a ‘child soldier/victim’ until the Conservatives were elected.
