Not really a surprise junk journalism from a junk and bankrupt rag, obviously the writer has never been there, (most of its a restricted area) anyway as i’m sure some of the other commentators on here like myself that have been there know, environmentalism or concern for the environment among the natives is about as likely as the moon being made of cheese.
However for those environmentalist that maybe feel the need to go and educate or show solidarity with the locals, I’d suggest a flight into Mali and then a northern trek over the border oh and before you head off, distribute any belongings to those you might want to receive them.
“Opposition groups are joining the cause, and a group of professors from the University of Sétif is organizing a conference……..”
The natives may not be very environmentally conscious but are instinctive to kill over water…..that’s the main concern in the sand box….
Nice to see the money from George Soros is going into a rabbit hole! More… More…Faster
I see this as a good thing. Something that pokes a stick in the eye of a muslim government is not necessarily bad.
I see that many anti-fracking wackos have the support of OPEC Hey Go Figure
Strange how enviro quackism always finds the most definitive proof
for whatever given idiocy is currently on offer in the areas of the
world most inaccessible to run of the mill folks with real expertise
in deflating lying windbags.
“Citizens frequently burn tires, block roads and close off neighborhoods to highlight their demands. Some towns, like Ouargla, are in a perpetual state of unrest, where unemployed youths throw stones at riot police officers almost daily.”
It’s what they do! Those who do well enough, emigrate and enrich France with their culture.
Love the author’s eponymous name Carlotta Gall.
The largest oil producer in Algeria is its national company Sonatrac, nearly every other producer shares it’s fields with Sonatrac to one degree or another.
The largest service company in Algeria is French owned Schlumberger; they lay naked with Algeria’s ruling elite in ways that only Schlumberger can do – like facilitating University Educations in France for Algeria’s elitist brats.
As the oil and gas reserves represent the majority of Algerian jobs and wealth you will see no changes from the Algerian government that has no issue napalming the hills and mountains around the country in search of Jihadist hideouts.
Of course this is exactly what Hillary and Obamba would like to “Arab Spring” if given another chance.
Algerians voted to be French citizens in a referendum back in the 1950s. Then the idiots had a change of heart and fought for independence. Now after 50 years of more or less failed independence they all want to be French again, or at least they like French money.
Tghe Fragile Earth myth is one of the biggist lies these eco-freaks have come up with along with the so called deliate balance of nature Racheal Carson lied big time about DDT and its effects on birds and their eggs and you can bet hollywood idiots like Robert Redford will appear in some junk mail from Greenpeace or The Sierra Club
I believe for folks with more than half a functioning brain, that yellow rag should be referred to as “the old dead lady” A testament to the use of journalism schools as mop closets.
