But try Kallinikov’s 1st symphony, 2nd movement for some occasion deserving pathos. A composer who died far too young, of TB no less, but who showed so much promise in the dying days of Tsarist Russia. Makes one wistful……….. not a bad sentiment for New Year’s Eve. It’s not a “scandal” until they find out that no Democrat has recently addressed a loony-left group. I’ll bet a couple have.
Scalise said that he “he ‘went and spoke to any group that called’ in 2002 when he was trying to drum up support in opposing a state tax plan”. Which pols sometimes do. It wasn’t the smartest choice in this case obviously, but exactly how much worse is it than, say, Obama appointing Van Jones to a cabinet position?
