Yet another IT pro expresses doubt about the whole “Nork’s did it” narrative.
Sony has a pretty bad reputation for lax security in their systems and a long history of cracks. Add to that 5000 layoffs ending March, 2015 and you have the recipe for an internal breach.
I never bought that the Nork’s did it, and especially cast doubt when the FBI trotted it out. You know the same FBI that totally investigated the IRS.
The only question I have remaining is why the FBI (read: the political class) would want to false-flag the crack.

Put it down to Hollywood seeing its influence dwindle and creating a narrative that says: “hey look at us being patriots now”
Its either an attempt to redefine the word or trying to get out in front of a new narrative on the way for 2016.
“The only question I have remaining is why the FBI (read: the political class) would want to false-flag the crack.”
1: FBI brass don’t care about the truth, they just want a fall-guy RIGHT NOW because media cycle is like two hours these days.
2: Norks make a handy fall-guy and also a nice boogie man since they seem scary on paper, but in reality they never -do- anything.
3: Kim Jong Whatsit does seem like the kind of low-impulse-control freak who would do a stunt like this, so it has the added advantage of plausibility.
4: A nice new foreign threat takes the heat off Barry from all the domestic stuff he’s getting broiled for.
5: No downside for lying, if it later develops that some bunch of hacker punks broke in to Sony, FBI just says “Oh sorry, our bad.” and carries on as if nothing happened.
Years ago the FBI and other organizations were able to do something called ‘profiling’, it meant they could find links between various attacks, figure out the motives behind them, and then stop them. Knowledge of how to do that kind of investigation has been entirely lost now, why didn’t they write these things down?
Speaking of the IRS, they are still at it:
–Adding to the long-running saga of IRS dealings with conservatives, former Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell says the tax agency punished her mistakenly for the second time in five years by imposing an erroneous levy on her bank accounts.
Ms. O’Donnell told The Washington Times that she discovered the levy when she couldn’t access her checking account as she was preparing to visit relatives over Thanksgiving.
“The day before I was heading out of town for the Thanksgiving weekend, my bank told me the IRS had frozen my accounts. They didn’t give me a reason why, just a phone number to call,” Ms. O’Donnell said in an interview this week.–

This US regime has a track-record of blaming silly films.
Who cares who did it?
If Hollywood is taking a hit its a good thing.
could just be a way to drum up support for internet “control”, the ZerO has been barking up that tree lately
None of our law enforcement types can do profiling now, because they never know if the guilty perp will actually be a middle aged, tea partier or otherwise white guy. Unless they can prove that before they start, there is no sense in wasting time finding the real perp.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Sony did it to themselves in an effort to drum up interest in what by all accounts is a mediocre 3rd rate movie.
Yep! Just a PR stunt. A very effective one.
I’m with GG on this. One hundred years ago actor were considered the dregs of society. Guess what? They still are, most of them anyhow.
Reasons? PR, PC Politics, Payola – the 3 motivators of the degenerate corporate ruling class and their water bearers in Washington and the security (AKA public control complex)sector.
All this for a crappy 3rd rate comedy which was a dead looser going up against the Hobbit at Xmas – until this stunt filled seats.
The Norks are working on this too.

Not sure that this can not be a collaborative effort with Uno hiring the TO-ed ITs.
Bingo!
Yuppers, and next they will hack the titanic and cause it to run into an iceberg
From the Washington Post:
“North Korea on Saturday compared President Obama to a “monkey in a tropical forest”
Never thought I would agree 100% with the North Korean regime but truer words were never spoken.
Well I really hate to debunk your fantasies but this scenario is as fantastic as that old movie “Wargames”. If that possibility hadn’t occurred to our boffins then that movie would have motivated firewalls strong enough to contain Yellowstone.
Hollywood does that….like “top-Gun”…..F14’s can’t dogfight (interceptors)….they are/were a firing platform for the AIM 54 Phoenix Missile (operational range 100 miles).
