Reader Tips

Earlier today in the comments SDA reader kcdist linked to a touching personal video that nicely embodies the underlying spirit of Christmas. As commenter Ken (Kulak) put it,

Good for you and the others. Love is a major part of the Christmas celebration.

Yes it is. So gather the family ’round to watch Carmen’s generosity being repaid in kind.
Beauty.
Merry Christmas everyone!

  1. Howie Carr in the Boston Herald:

“The blame game,” Sharpton now says, “will only lead to further kinds of venom and further division.”

Ironic words from the tax deadbeat who invented Tawana Brawley and who has spent a lifetime denouncing “white interlopers,” “diamond merchants” and “fags.” None dares call it hate speech.

Have you ever noticed that when these hate-mongers say, “Stop the finger-pointing,” they’re talking about you accusing them? When they accuse you — of anything — they’re speaking truth to power, and don’t you ever forget it.

    Word.

  10. Thanks Marc.
As a transplanted Calgarian, I used to donate annually to the big causes….United Way, Mustard Seed, ect, but something like this is far more satisfying.
Instead of donating to a charity with a CEO, and high overhead, what we can do in Mexico is far more efficient. In Carmen’s case, there are no Government handouts, food stamps or hurricane assistance cheques. Without us, she would have survived…through her strong work ethic, she would have continued to be employed as a cleaner, continued to support her family and church, and slowly rebuilt…albeit, under 19th century living conditions.
We couldn’t imagine a more deserving lady, and we were so proud to be able to make her life better.
Off topic…lots of transplanted ‘neo-cons’ down here…and they spend more time donating and helping the poor than one could imagine.

  11. Ah back to the days of a just society with Pierre Trudeau, from 1982, with twice the US/evil Reagan inflation rate of 12%, with Pierre enjoying a 28% approval rating, and many of us now waxing nostalgic, recalling 21% mortgage rates, but at least we weren’t so mean-spirited, and ideological – nope, just broke:

Plus, obviously the WHITE COP is a racist, all the BLACK YOUTH did was point a loaded 9mm pistol at him; time to riot – after all it’s the symbolmemism that counts:

(When he wasn’t robbing us) “He’s like any other kid who had dreams or hopes,” she said. “We loved being around him. He’d push a smile out of you” (or a gun in your ear).

  12. And on the matter of Animal Farm foolery, we read in the Vancouver Sun that after several poultry farms in the Fraser Valley were shut down because of an outbreak of Avian flu, a non-commercial backyard coop in Langley (mere miles from Van) has been infected.
You may recall that Mayor Moonbeam (Robertson) and his Vision Party had encouraged the building of hundreds or thousands of backyard chicken coops in Vancouver? This could get really interesting!
Merry Christmas and a flu-free New Year.
