  1. I think you confuse Punk bands with the new millennial “Junk” bands that try to mimic the patriach punkers in musical posturing but not action. Essentially the new “punk” is a pampered middle class socialist-pacified wussie who has no capacity for civil struggle.
In a real revolution twinkies like Kai will be the first to be ground up by the reality of civil conflict – they are whiners not warriors.

  2. Exactly. There seem to be fairly large segments of our society that are empty twisted mentally sick people who believe in nothing.

  3. Her grasp of punk history is poor.
As one of the commenters said, I’d like to be there when she tells Bad Brains, Don Letts and Viv Albertine that they were just “in the gaps.”

  4. “If punk is the ultimate anti-establishment scene, why is it still run by all these white men?”
Beeeecause angsty mentaly ill dudes pretending to be chicks just aren’t very entertaining? And maybe musicians ought to be able to, you know, -play- the instruments?
    Just sayin’.

  5. If Alyssa Kai really wants to make a statement, he/she/it should take a long, hard look at self-mummification. Now that would be truly transgressive.

  6. I guess the “girl” has never heard of The Clash. Poor commie punks are, unfortunately I suppose, a great band and can’t help but make money. One guitar player gradually comes to the realization it might be nice to be a rock star, other guitar player has purer ideals and fires his ass. Band disintegrates. Everybody loses. Lesson? Be a lousy band, don’t practice and never have that problem. Later on you can blame your lack of success on your purity … or … you know … the business.
