Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

For being a social security squatter with an illegal power hookup. Our squatting friend is surprisingly well spoken.
I’m not surprised though that in Detroit the white woman who legitimately owns the house went to jail. Lynne is system using shark and she knows it.
Sorry guys–but before I comment, I’d like to see the title and who (in fact) really owns the house.
Maybe we should have been buying ”Made in USA” or ”Made in Canada” and the problem would not exist. ”Gee–my KIA runs great” is what created this BS to start with.
“Lay down with dogs and you get flea’s”.
So who let the dogs out WHO? Who? Who let the dogs out WHO? WHO? Who let the dogs out WHO WHO?
Love it!
Sorry Plainzdrifter, but how did foreign carmakers cause this? Without the massive investment of Japanese manufacturers in NA factories, we would all be left much worse off, car buyers, and the employees of those companies.
This woman’s criminality was not ” caused ” by any foreign automaker, but by her, alone. And most observers agree that Detroit’s long slide began with the 1967 riot, which triggered the first middle class exodus from Detroit.
My GMC Sierra work truck, with just over 30,000kms has serious computer glitches, the clock randomly resets and the on board electronics does strange unpredictable things. It will start one time and than later in the day not start, come back a half hour later it starts again. Something drains the battery, the horn randomly started going off for no reason in the middle of the night. The truck has leaked oil, power steering fluid, lost a power steering pump and its been in for service way to many times.
My daily driving Kia actually does work great.
My greatest fear in buying a house in Mesa or Apache Junction, is going down at the start of winter and find 13 Hispanics living in it, or having it turned into a meth lab over the spring and summer months.
I’m quite certain that the org. helping the owner did just that.
And a saying came to mind when I read your post,”t’is better to be though of as an idiot, than opening……………
Good. Nobody is showing you the title, so don’t comment.
What about this “squatter”?
A First Nations woman in Northern Ontario faces thousands of dollars in fines and a stop-work order on the cabin she is attempting to build in the place where she grew up.
Darlene Necan is a member of the Ojibways of Saugeen First Nation, but she’s been unable to acquire housing in that community, about 400 kilometres northwest of Thunder Bay, since the reserve was created in the late 1990s.
Last year, Necan began building with donated materials on land where her family home once stood, 20 kilometres south of her reserve, in the unorganized township of Savant Lake, Ont.
…
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry has charged Necan with breaches of the Public Lands Act that carry fines of up to $10,000, and up to an additional $1,000 fine each time she is caught continuing to build. Necan believes it is because somehow the place she grew up has become Crown land. The ministry did not respond to questions from CBC News about this story.

That wasn’t a bad looking neighbourhood.
I think a bunch of us hard-working canadians should go over there , buy up a block or two of houses cheap( maybe add a wall and gate) and live cheaply and legally.
Mr. Galt, your woman’s story is about the same.
She decided that she wanted to build a house on someone else’s property, and she is upset that there are laws against that. I don’t think she will find much sympathy here.
A thing of buety to watch. I remember the so called “Freeman” squatters in Edmonton. criminals all.
This guy is a class act
Some East Indians I knew had rented their house out, and the renters stopped paying rent. They were being forced to go to the courts.( Did I mention this was in Vancouver?) When their son told me this I thought it was just so unfair, so I asked him if he knew any big friends who would like to come to a big party at the house if he supplied the beer? He said he did. He hailed from the Punjab. When I saw him again he was all smiles. It seemed when six 250 + pound hard working Sihks opened the door, walked in with cases of beer, made themselves at home, the squatters up and left. i guess the squatters didn’t like to be squatted on.
(IMHO) Charlie LeDuff is one of the last good journalists left in the US. His book “Detroit, an American Autopy” is one of the best thing I have read in years.
I have mixed emotions about this, and I rather think there may be some missing info.
I know that the MNR is far from even-handed in the way they enforce crown land laws. My family was one of several who built cottages on a crown land lot near a remote lake in northern Ontario. We had to pay leases on designated land and get permits for every tree that was cut. After several decades, we were give the opportunity to buy title to the land.
Someone claiming to be Sioux native took over a couple of acres of a public beach and park area on the crown land across the lake from us. The claim was silly, since the only natives who have lived within 50 miles of the site are Cree and Objibwe, but this fellow has got away with building several large permanent buildings and cutting a lot of trees, as well as claiming a public road and boat launch.
The landowners aren’t all that pleased since they’ve lost the only road access to the boat launch, but no officials want to get involved in a dispute with a native squatter for obvious reasons however tenuous the claim – and similar situations are playing out in other communities as well.
This makes me wonder if there are some details that aren’t being reported in the story you cite.
Even simple property law has been usurped in Prog-Lib jurisdictions state side – On our side Witness Caledonia. Common thread ; these are NOT liberals, or Progressives, these are kleptocratic-anarchist regimes and their voter base is as lawless and prehensile as the government – obviously a deed in Detroit is more enforceable than a deed in Ontarslobovia – squatting/trespass/vandalism there has force of law.
That was impressive! Legally outsmarting the squatter. Great! May the poor house owner never deal with that again.
“Yo, this be my home. No pink people here, just we niggahs”.
If Detroit automakers delivered an equivalent product at an equivalent price, the we would have been buying American-Made, but they couldn’t and wouldn’t.
It’s not just the Union, i work for a company that uses UAW labor, and we survived, grew, and profited by building a good product sold at a reasonable price. OTOH, our UAW local members came to understand that they had to deliver so the company would make a profit, or there would be no jobs here. (Yes, they are well rewarded, and they do deliver)
