Naturally occurring changes in winds, not human-caused climate change, are responsible for most of the warming on land and in the sea along the West Coast of North America over the last century, a study has found.
The analysis challenges assumptions that the buildup of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere has been a significant driver of the increase in temperatures observed over many decades in the ocean and along the coastline from Alaska to California.
And still they managed to run to Trenberth for a comment.

Well I’ll be! Who would have ever thought?
Well I’ll be! Who would have thought?
What happened? Don’t look at me.
The climate alarmism edifice is slowly crumbling as study after study comes out showing that they’ve badly overstated their claims of catastrophe. That the LA Times would actually report this study is amazing, though of course they had to get Trenberth to provide the obligatory “the earth is burning” quote.
When the watermelons have lost the LA Times, the end is nigh.
It warmed from 1900 to about 1940 more than it did from the 1970 to 2000. The miniscule contribution of mankind to atmospheric CO2 (ooh “doubling”) had very little, if anything IMHO, to do with either. For thirty years CO2 levels rose along with temperature, but never any other time, not even right now. So why the hysteria?
Economist use econometric models which, while incredibly complex, have nowhere near the variables to analyze than do climate models. We would never base our long term economy, the elimination of entire industries for example, on econometric models. Yet we are supposed to do the same thing with the so far unreliable results of climate models. Not going to happen.
Why do the rent seekers, watermelons and con artists get even more shrill as AGW evidence continues to be contradicted? Because they don’t care about emissions or the environment or the earth, they’re defending their reputations, their influence and their paycheques. They’ll use the smallest scintilla of evidence while ignoring mountains of contradictory data to save their miserable butts. They will have to admit they’re wrong at some point and the public will be “outraged” when they receive confirmation of what they already knew. Al Gore sold out no too long ago; more will follow. Too bad the POTUS and his administration continue to parrot the discredited idea of “97% consensus.”
Witness RFK Jr’s latest tirade, how we must jail “treasonous” oil men. I understand he favours a pardon for George Soros and the Rockefellers. The pampered American left has lost their collective minds, but I object most to their export of Lizzie May.
I also have a bone to pick with Stephen Harper because apparently May is in politics because of him. Darn it!!
