““We are big believers in Tesla’s strategy and stand firmly by our claim that it is the world’s most important car company,” Jonas wrote. “But …”
“Jonas issued four “sobering factors to consider” about Tesla. He wrote that electric vehicles are “failing categorically on a global scale,” warned that Tesla’s growth may be limited in China, that battery-powered cars still require technological breakthroughs to become mainstream and that the dawn of driverless cars threaten Tesla’s reason for being.”

  2. Government releases plan to fight violence against aboriginal women
    The Canadian Press
OTTAWA – The federal government has released details of its plan to address the issue of violence against aboriginal women and girls.
Labour Minister Kellie Leitch, who is also minister for the status of women, says the plan consists of a range of measures to address the problem.
They include the development of more community safety plans both off and on reserves and projects to break intergenerational cycles of violence and abuse.
The plan also proposes projects to empower aboriginal women and girls to denounce and prevent violence.
The government has steadfastly refused calls from the opposition and aboriginal groups for a national inquiry into missing and murdered aboriginal women.

Leitch said there have been 40 such studies already.
“Now is not the time for another study, another look by the lawyers,” she said. “Now is the time for action.”
Leitch said the newly released plan is evidence of the government’s commitment.

  3. Tom Harris and Bob Carter in the New York Post:

Oregon-based physicist Gordon Fulks sums it up well: “CO2 is said to be responsible for global warming that is not occurring, for accelerated sea-level rise that is not occurring, for net glacial and sea ice melt that is not occurring . . . and for increasing extreme weather that is not occurring.”

  4. Really ?? Which ones? Leo is definitely not one from his comments in the article that’s been posted on SDA at least three times already.

  5. Last night, EBD posted a number about a Muslim KFC worker in Sydney, Aus. who went ballistic when a customer asked for bacon. That got me looking into Halal, and how they slaughter chickens. And really, they slaughter chickens the same way as we did on a Christian farm in Saskatchewan, by cutting the jugular.
There is however an interesting story about a chicken named Mike, and how he lived for two years with its head chopped off. My Dad had a newspaper clipping about Mike, the story is genuine.

  6. The director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota says that the virus – which currently can only be transmitted through contact with bodily fluids – has proven to be “notoriously sloppy in replicating”, which increases the chances that it could turn into something more contagious.
“Why are public officials afraid to discuss this?” he asks. “They don’t want to be accused of screaming ‘fire!’ in a crowded theatre – as I’m sure some will accuse me of doing. But the risk is real, and until we consider it, the world will not be prepared to do what is necessary to end the epidemic

  7. Thoroughly enjoyed the sights and sounds. Very lovely and relaxing. Too bad nobody wants that anymore, huh.

  8. they slaughter chickens the same way as we did on a Christian farm in Saskatchewan, by cutting the jugular.
…and the same way we harvested meat animals on the farm when I was a kid. The animals jugular was cut with a very sharp knife and it quietly stood there bleeding till it dropped to it’s knees, then passed out from loss of blood. We didn’t distress the animal by trucking it off to some place that smelled of death and then running it thru a traumatic experience before stunning it with a bolt gun once or twice if it didn’t get it the first time. That’s the same reason we don’t chase down game animals we’re harvesting for the freezer. With a clean shot to the heart, the animal just stands still and keels over. It’s especially humane and effective with a razor sharp broadhead bolt from a crossbow.
If Halal or Kosher slaughter is done correctly, it’s not much different than what we did on the farm, but without the religious ritual, and a whole lot more humane than an industrial meat slaughter house.

  9. What did the Liberals do about it during their time in power? This issue didn’t just happen but now the Conservatives are in power it’s become their problem to fix and urgently along with so many other Indian problems. Liberals were good at throwing money but never following it.

  10. Wow, the imbecilic Turdeau has handed us a big brick to toss at him and possibly knock him out of contention…he’s going to stop pension income splitting for seniors, something that has made a huge difference for many, many seniors, allowing them to stay in their own homes.

  11. I saw this on Yahoo, but have not seen much mainstream media coverage. Maybe I might missed it, but maybe it’s being down played since my guess us most Canadians will prefer thus to another enquiry. Clever Harper.

  12. There was also a recent item on the National pistol about a vibrant head (severed from the body) that struck an bit the chef who was planning to cook it for dinner. Cook died. This was a Brent Banbury item. ISIS should take note.

  13. I expect the media are downplaying it because it would make Harper look good as a reasonable leader. That’s not their agenda.

  14. Justin has responded to the planned Conservative cuts to EI premiums.
His proposal is that employers do not have to pay ANY premiums for a year(or two).
I have my doubts about the plan as it may create a high employer motivated turn-over. Cutting premiums across the board is likely the better way to go.
But JT did present an option… hopefully he will start thinking before talking one of these days.

“Report Finds No Water Contamination from Fracking”
“The final report from a landmark federal study on hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, found no evidence that chemicals or brine water from the gas drilling process moved upward to contaminate drinking water at a site in western Pennsylvania.
The Department of Energy report, released Monday, was the first time an energy company allowed independent monitoring of a drilling site during the fracking process and for 18 months afterward. After those months of monitoring, researchers found that the chemical-laced fluids used to free gas stayed about 5,000 feet below drinking water supplies.”
