There are several objections. For one, because halal meat is becoming the default option in much of the West, Muslims are taking over the slaughtering industry.

Unlike Mamba I don’t care how the animal goes, so long as it is healthy and properly cared for when alive and properly butchered and stored after death. Because I’ve been around animals a lot I’m not so tender hearted toward them. I like dogs. Cows, not so much. Pigs and sheep, less.
What does concern me however, is that this major change in slaughter practice has been allowed to occur in Canada without any public discussion at all. And Mamba isn’t wrong, halal slaughter is much less humane than the standard “bolt gun” method which causes death in seconds, not minutes. Given the clamor for more and more humane treatment of food animals, halal slaughter is a huge breach of faith with the public on the part of the government inspectors and regulators.

I don’t have any problem with Halal/Kosher slaughter methods, they’re essentially the same. They are no more or less humane than the industrial meat practices you see as acceptable. Comments to the contrary is just your opinion and you are free to believe whatever you want and choose what you eat.
I avoid eating industrial meat. I don’t like what it’s fed and the way it’s raised and harvested. I have no problem finding as much free range grass fed vegan animals to eat; it’s just being an informed consumer.
More importantly I don’t get upset because the majority eat industrial meat. I couldn’t care less what you cram in your pie hole. Learn to be tolerant when it’s not a big deal.

I’ve seen Halal meat in the local stores, but I’ve never been interested in buying it because it’s always so expensive with no extra benefit if you’re not into the religion thing. For example, lamb from New Zealand is much cheaper than Halal lamb from Alberta.

Exactly my point as well. That’s how we harvested animals on the farm when I was a kid.
The meat I eat is wild game I hunt or from local farms, and we use the same process.
Of course an animal has to be bled out or the meat will tase odd. The meat will also taste odd if the animal is chased or distressed before it’s killed. That’s one problem with industrial meat.
I have no idea what BM is going on about, since I don’t care if industrial meat is Halal, Kosher, or not. It’s how they’re raised that’s important, not what’s chanted when they’re killed.

Firstly, while I get that you’re being Mr. Look-at-me-I’m-a-radical-libertarian, you seem to be operating on the assumption that halal meat is confined to Muslim restaurants, and to the little corner in the supermarket clearly labelled “halal”. This is not the case.
Second, Halal slaughtered animals are not stunned. Are you telling me that an animal has to be not only alive but conscious for however long it takes to bleed out?
