    These stories seem to be written from a template these days.

  2. Quite so, Dano. If I’m not mistaken, in his 18th century work “On Crimes and Punishments” Cesare Beccaria, although an opponent of a state-imposed death penalty, pointed out that the most effective deterrent to crime was that punishment be certain and prompt. In this case, Check.

    Please note the “incident” only appears in small local media – There is a black out on the positive effects of armed self defense in the MSM.     Anyone who wants to remove your basic right to defend your life is your enemy! – Either they feel your life is worthless or they claim your life as theirs to expedite as they see fit.
    Any state official who wants civilian disarmament or punishes armed self defense is claiming a state monopoly on the use of defensive force – as Leopold II, Hitler, Stalin, Mao, PolPot, Kim Il Sung and history’s other genocidal regimes have.
    A government that limits your right to self defense and wants you disarmed, claims your life and property as theirs. Remember High River and the politics behind it if you think pogrom statism cannot exist here.
    PS- Dear Pony child, the “root cause” of this incident was 2 goblins thought killing people (or threatening to kill them)for their money was a new career discovery – of course governments have discovered this racket eons ago – none the less, free lancing at this is called criminal attempted murder and statute armed robbery – what should one do in this situation in the absence of police presence – take a bullet and provide another bloody statistic so sheltered progressives can feel good about themselves and their surreal ideas about crime, self defense and punishment?

  11. Bravo to Justin Harrison. Outmanned by two fine gentlemen he still managed to defend himself and others while avoiding any injuries to innocent people in the vicinity. All in a split second.
    Can LEAs do better?
    In Moncton, NB five RCMP officers succeeded in getting shot by one armed nutcase, Justin Bourque.

  13. I don’t think you can compare what happened in Moncton with this. Moncton was an ambush by a heavily armed nutcase whose intent was to kill as many cops as possible whereas the incident in the Waffle House was an attempted armed robbery.

  14. Occam…… in Canada very few people can carry a hand gun legally. we are in effect unarmed. if you own a hunting rifle you are armed at home but just see how quick you will be prosecuted if you use the rifle to defend your family and your home. Canadians were neutered a long time ago.

    Cops are the worst pistol shots out there. They are worse than little old ladies, worse that gang banger punks who hold the gun sideways, worse than newbie CCW holders. Their training is CR@P. If you see a cop with his gun out, you hit the dirt and find some hard cover because that cop can’t hit a barn. From the inside.
    As to the article, one expects whining from the family of the dead robber. Even if they thought the kid was trash, they’ll still pretend. Grief makes people do stuff like that. Its normal.
    It is utterly insane to base public policy on the grief-stricken utterances of a criminal’s parents. But that is exactly what we have done. That insanity is what we live with today in the USA and even more so in Canada.

    What utter rubbish. The people who are supposed to be trusted with keeping us safe,and who spend months in training academies,namely the cops, would have riddled this kid with a full clip from every cop at the scene.
    And his robbery buddy wouldn’t have fared any better. Btw, has there ever been young criminal whose family did NOT say he was “a model student,fun loving,a good kid”? I bet no reporter checked with his school to see if he was the bright-eyed wonder his sister claims.
    This was a case of real justice,for once.

    A Regina homeowner was shocked to discover that the noise they heard was from a man who broke into their home.
    Late Wednesday evening police were called to a house on the 1200 block of Athol Street. When they arrived a 61-year-old woman told police she found an man in her house that she didn’t know.
    Police believe the man broke down the door and then demanded money from the 61 year old while holding a knife that he grabbed from the kitchen.
    The woman was not injured but the suspect got away with a small amount of cash.
    The male is described as Aboriginal and between the ages of 20 to 25. He has brown eyes, a thin build and around 5’8″ tall. At the time he was wearing a black sweatshirt.

    Here in Canada, violent criminals are a protected species. Had the 61 yr old woman subject to this armed home invasion and robbery drew a handgun and drove off or shot her attacker.
    She’d receive a 3 yr mandaTory minimum prison sentence simply for possessing the means to defend her life.

Maybe the family of the dead criminal should consider more intense in home training on how to be a respectable, law biding adult before demanding that the innocent law biding citizens get better training on self defense – although target practice is always something to improve upon as this case showed.
    One mark for the good guys for a change but no screaming headline news in LSM, to be expected. I applaud you sir.
