Obama plays favourites among the press gallery. Those who toe his line will be invited to lunch with him or to special events. He’ll punish those whose questions may inflict damage to his hide. The influence of the Networks is Network NEWS. They are in fact distributers of Programming to their respective Stations
The O&O’s and Network affiliates have independent Management control over Local editorial content. The media ownership group within any Network does not split down partisan lines
In today’s world Network distribution is obsolete, programming is available directly (data streaming) from the syndicated producers. Madison Avenue (Advertisers) have always bargained directly with the Station’s Group.
The power of Network Affiliates can not be underestimated, they can decide who Anchors the Network News or programming time slots. When they reject (refuse to carry) the Network News or shift it to a 2AM slot.. The Network ERA will be over

My relatives in Germany, who immigrated from Russia around 1990, have told me that no one, not even the KGB, believed what the press wrote. Here about 2/3 of the people still believe the crap the MSM feeds them.
