Operation Empty Chair

He’s not anti-war.

It’s hard not to conclude that the administration’s Syria policy is a sub-set of its Iran policy. Many people were baffled for a long time, including me, that the president didn’t seem to see Syria strategically, as a way to weaken Iran. Retired Marine Corps Gen. James Mattis said that toppling Bashar al-Assad would constitute the most severe blow against the Iranian regime in 25 years. A number of administration officials seemed to recognize the same thing–from former Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and ex-CIA director David Petraeus. Only the president seemed to not recognize that or to see Syria in a strategic framework. What we now realize is that the president does see Syria in a strategic framework. He sees that the Syrian regime is an important ally of the Iranians and doesn’t want to be seen toppling the regime for fear of angering the Iranians.

He’s on the other side.

  1. Obama has his Iran knee pads on and is in the mood to fully service the Tehran mullahs.

  2. “You Americans are so naive”- Steve Martin.
A mulittude of fools elected an idiot tyrant. We may never know for certain whether or not he was a clever, creative traitor … or just a truly dumb shitt. No question that the ‘fools’ who elect twits like Obama will be around for a long time. That is the big problem. Educational system must be taken back before any meaningful change in attitude can take place. Similar to the obvious fact that there cannot be an amnesty while the borders are wide open.
Either way, he is bringing down America and make a big mess in the rest of the world.
He chief adviser is an Iranian …. He, himself is an admitted Muslim. What did you think he was all about? Helping the largely white populated America when he and his father and his wife all hate white people and hate the freedom and prosperity white people have earned in recent history.
He has to go now. Bobby Jindal said recently that there is a large number of Americans who want to take DC by force and dump this that little golfing shitt before it’s too late. When a governor starts talking revolt … it’s likely on it’s way. Can’t wait.

  3. I’m curious, ofaycat, what would a revolt against Obama look like? How do you think Canada and the world would respond to such an uprising? Should Canadians within hours of the border be arming themselves to fight off the rats leaving their sinking ship? How long do you see a post-revolt America returning to a peaceful existence?

  4. Countering Iran
Or we could just stay out of it and let the Arabs pay. Or do we want to quickly depose Assad and possibly turn Syria into a Sunni-jihadist playground?
“The Man who Broke The Middle East”
Yeah, it was doing so great before. Especially Iraq after Bush got his hands on it.
Obama doesn’t know what he’s doing or anything else but neocons are down to just lying without any limits whatsoever. They will say anything to justify their BS

  5. “whether or not he was a clever, creative traitor … or just a truly dumb shitt”
Sorry but this became an either or when? Personally I see all three options in play.

  6. The great thing about the conflict in Syria is that it truly is a situation of “damned if you do, damned if you don’t”.

  7. Might I remind everyone. Both O-dumber and Hillary said. ( Assad is a “reformer” and guy we can work with)
    Then the killing started.
Face it. Everything O-dumber has touched has gone south.

  8. “He sees that the Syrian regime is an important ally of the Iranians and doesn’t want to be seen toppling the regime for fear of angering the Iranians.”
Pfft! Both Syria and Iran are Russian client states and have been for many decades.
Obama is doing what the Russians want him to do.

  9. Pfft! Both Syria and Iran are Russian client states and have been for many decades. Obama is doing what the Russians want him to do.
No Obama has shown disrespect for Putin, he sent a group of Homosexual & Lesbians to the Russian Olympics, they where chosen to represented America. NO other person from the WH was at the Olympics to support American athletics. That silly action proved to Putin that he was dealing with a child, scary that Putin can do anything he wants and Obama is incapable or unwilling to defend America

  10. before Obumbles there were 50 states, once Obumbles happened he created 7 more states, shown some respect for this black jeezus

  11. Neocons is an antiquated leftist throw-away insult. Most people here are not “neocons”. We are Real Conservatives.

  12. “Obama is doing what the Russians want him to do.”
Of course he is. Putin plays chess, Obama plays checkers, badly.

  13. Neoconservatism is a misused term but it is still a real thing and Bill Kristol is ones of its ‘alphas’. The neoconservatives believe that America has the duty to intervene around to the world to civilize it. White Man’s Burden 2.0
There is no such thing as ‘real conservatives’ or ‘real conservatism’.

  14. Not exactly, “Just Truth”. The situation in Iraq was won in 2009. It took five and a half years (the length of the second
world war) for Obama (and none but Obama). No, Just, it is YOU and your intellectual confreres who have brought about
this devastation. That this is unacceptable to you is to be expected.

  15. Let’s try this again. Not exactly, “Just Truth”. The situation in Iraq was won in 2009. It took five and a half years (the length
    of the second
world war) for Obama (and none but Obama) to lose the situation. He will go down as the biggest loser in American
    history. Americans don’t like losers.
No, Just, it is YOU and your intellectual confreres who have brought about
this devastation. That this is unacceptable to you is to be expected.

  16. You neocons are breathtaking in your mendacity and delusion. Obama did not ‘lose’ anything. After attempting to negotiate a treaty where America would have been stuck in Iraq FOREVER, Obama was forced to follow the Bush timetable and leave. And thank God he did because if US troops were over there the only difference is that they’d be dying and Americans paying. Maliki lost the peace and it is 100% his fault.
The arrogance and absurd simplicity of ‘if only Obama had kept troops over there everything would be peachy’ is incredible-never mind that America gains nothing from that arrangement but a bill.
Get it through your head: the American people are not interested. At all.

  17. All righty….back under your bridge.
“…..if US troops were over there the only difference is that they’d be dying…..”
Naw, the ISIS people would be doing the dying…remember thar’s only about 800 of them…they ain’t Israeli’s……
    Google “highway of death” Homer…..

  18. thar’s only about 800 of them
    CITATION NEEDED
Oh I see it’s the ‘I can’t defend my earlier ludicrous argument so I’ll invent ludicrous ‘facts’ to support it’ game.

  19. “No Obama has shown disrespect for Putin”
Respect or not, Obama is doing what Putin wants him to do.
The damage Obama is doing is to America and it’s future, not to Iran or Syria, both of which are long-time Russian client states.

  20. “Oh I see it’s the ‘I can’t defend my earlier ludicrous argument so I’ll invent ludicrous ‘facts’ to support it’ game.”
One of many, many published articles……
    http://www.vox.com/2014/6/20/5824480/why-the-iraqi-army-cant-defeat-isis
    paragraph 3
“In Mosul, Iraq’s second most populous city, about 800 ISIS fighters invaded and sent 30,000 Iraqi army troops running.”
What it is, is the awareness of matters, that are in the General Knowledge.

  21. ISIS has 7,000-10,000 fighters (http://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/iraq-turmoil/baghdad-bomb-blitz-feared-next-stage-isis-offensive-n138841) and further ISIS and its attack on Mosul are augmented by Sunni tribes and a shadowy Baathist remnant called the Nashbaq army. There’s been a little bit of fighting between the factions. Further, ISIS had a presence in Mosul well before the invasion. They owned the underground and extorted money from businesses.
Wouldn’t matter if the US had a (massively costly) residual presence; the Iraqi army and government is a useless POS and it does not deserve to be saved. It is in our interests for all these people to getting busy killing each other.
