Walked on the streets where many of you walked, maybe we had fun and ate ice crème at that time.
Today without tears you can’t walk there, and may be think of new perfume, or nice vocations.
In some places near basically every tree, there are pictures of killed, usually young people.
They knew, that they may not return. And many of them didn’t return. New history of Ukraine in painful.
Today we learned about new heroes. Our soldiers in there tank were surrounded by rebels. They decided to explode themselves, and did it, not to give equipment and there life’s in the hands of aggressors. Young boys gave their life for the freedom, and that I can kiss my kids before they go to bad. Unbelievable.
Divorcé with Russia cost us a lot.

Ukraine is trying to join the Western world- Russia is mired in post-communist tyranny and wants to keep Ukraine in its orbit. Putin knows that a free Ukraine is an existential threat to his regime. Its as simple as that.
And Ukraine is getting no help from the big O. or from Western Europe. there are millions of Ukrainians that are fighting for the basic principles that Canada and other Western countries are founded upon and are supposed to hold dear.

Ukraine needs Russian natgas, but can’t afford to pay for it, not at market rates.
In the aftermath of the orange revolution (2004), Russia adjusted the gas price to reflect market rates (no more subsidies for you if you are not in our corner). Ukraine defaulted. Russia cut off supply to Ukraine. Ukraine simply helped itself to the Russian gas in transit to Germany et al. Russia reacted by intervening in the internal politics of Ukraine in order to secure the gas flow through to Europe.
Rinse and repeat a decade further on.

Russia Puts Troops on Alert as U.S. Broadens Sanctions
Russia put more than 65,000 troops on combat alert and ordered them to take part in a drill a day after Ukraine called a week-long cease-fire to quell violence in the eastern part of the country.
The Russian drill is the biggest since the country annexed the Black Sea Crimean peninsula in March. The U.S. has accused the government in Moscow of aiding the separatists and this week imposed sanctions on people linked to the insurgency.

I hope Ukraine crushes all rebel scum and takes back the Crimea, but their idiot president would rather declare ceasefires that serve only to shelter the insurrectionists. Nonetheless, Ukraine has probably re-taken control of the whole border with Russia.

Millions of Ukrainians fought with the Germans against Stalin and Communism. Many years ago I read a horrific book about the forced deportation of Ukrainian refugees back to Soviet controlled territory. Most of this was out of Austria but some by ship out of Britain. Many on the ships jumped overboard to their deaths
when they realized they were being returned to Russia.
In Austria military units of the British, French and USA were used to herd men, women and children back to Russian territory. Once taken into custody the men were separated and then machine gunned. In one particular crossing across a gorge women were throwing their children over the side and jumping themselves. Orthodox Christians felt that if they died at the hands of non-believer Communists that
they would not go to heaven.
There was only one military unit which refused the order to turn these people over and it was an American unit which disobeyed that command. It is estimated that the Russians killed over 2 million Ukrainian returnees.
I suspect that Russian army conscripts will be very worried about doing duty in the Ukraine.

I’m pretty sure that the ‘rebel’ units are all Spetsnaz/FSB/GRU/MVD or retirees of said units.(they never really retire from these elite units, they are just sleepers ’til the day they die)
I’d like to see some journalists go into the sections of Georgia that Russia steam-rolled the same way in 2008 and do some interviews of the Georgians, find out what it’s like living under the ponderous weight of the Bear’s ass after they’ve been mauled. It would be interesting to see if the areas that were shelled and bombed have been rebuilt or are they still lying in burned out rubble as a kind of demilitarized zone until Russia decides to expand their empire further.
Could be a glimpse of the vision Putin has for Ukraine and other parts of Europe that were former *’Soviet Republics’.
