  1. Meanwhile in Malaysia ,obumbles jumps in on the only thing he knows, black offence . Wades in on Don Sterling who won’t support his girlfriends career as a gold digger

  2. The ban is going to have a disparate effect on people who drive a certain model of automobile manufactured by Ford, so it’s probably racist.

  3. The students in these schools must really feel important, that they think these rules are so very important. Or something. If that’s what they want to do, fine with me, as long as these precious delicate snowflakes know how to make a decent cup of coffee once they graduate and are out in the real world.

  4. One more time –
It is evident that Universities are (have been) the epicenter for the attack on liberal democratic civil equity, social meritocracy, individual liberty, and unintrusive government ever since the collage system was infiltrated by Frankfurt school pedagogues in the late 30s.
The last decade “PC” (AKA academic Marxism) has become overtly aggressive and open in its intent – that intent is to attack the remanants of western civil liberty, liberal democratic equity and instill acceptance of a militarized domestic police state which abusively enforces PC intolerance and identity group privilege as opposed to equity governing. Essentially the antithesis of what the BNA drafters had in mind for a representitive and equitable governing system.
We realize that politicized academia is fully neurotic when they are blind to the distopian ideals they pander – in this case fighting racism with racism, creating equality with inequality and intolerance. A university education (other than putting up with campus politics for a math/science/engineering degree) is a total waste of time and exposes you to the most factionalising fanaticism on earth – it’s intellectual self abuse.

  5. Actually, I kind of agree with the complainant on this one. Even though she is over the top in self described importance, I kind of agree with her characterization of the Americanization and appropriation of Cinqo de Mayo. Kind of felt this way since i found out Cinqo de Mayo wasn’t a Spanish version of pizza des quatre fromages…

  6. “We felt that the possibility of offending even one member of the Dartmouth community was not worth the potential benefits of having the fundraiser,”
Hurt attacks take priority over heart attacks.

  7. It would seem that at Dartmouth College, Chinco de Mayo means do not speak mock Chinese or we will beat you up and ban you from campus. Or did I read that wrongly.
It is difficult to understand the insane and it’s getting more difficult to tolerate them.

  8. Socialism rules the education system from Kindergarten right through the halls of higher learning, we sat by as it crept along, we now can reap what we’ve allowed to grow. We’re living in a fools paradise where we get to vote as a democracy but those we elect are forced to cede to minorities. Thank you Mr Trudeau for your Charter and Multicultural policies that allows minorities to call the shots, some are more equal than others and we must give in to their sensibilities. We stand for nothing when we give up our freedoms, even freedom of speech to appease all comers.

  9. Cinqo de Mayo – should I say it? – a holiday inspired by a war caused by Mexico defaulting on its national debt. Olé!

  10. Further ….
There is a price to pay for everything …. The punishment for their belligerence and nonsensical view of the world … is that they will be the ones who have to live their lives in that brave new world.
We have had our time from 1950 to 2000 … AND IT’S BEEN A FABULOUS RIDE. Too bad for those Dartmouthians … they missed the best, freest, most prosperous, most fun period in human history. You would think their parents might have wised them up …. but you know how stupid a lot of Boomers are.
Dartmouthians and their ilk will enjoy the social strait-Jackets they have opted to wear. They will live the rest of their sorry lives in a dark, diminished society. They will never be free and happy. Yes .. that is their punishment for being sooooooo stupid.

  11. That university has a problem with Spanish don’t they. First they banned the Spanish word Negro and now they are banning Fiesta.

  12. ” A university education (other than putting up with campus politics for a math/science/engineering degree) is a total waste of time and exposes you to the most factionalising fanaticism on earth – it’s intellectual self abuse.” Occam
Well said! Is it any wonder that graduates are unfit for any real jobs, other than a civil service job teaching idiots to tie their
    shoe laces.

  13. “…fine with me, as long as these precious delicate snowflakes know how to make a decent cup of coffee once they graduate and are out in the real world.”
    Brilliant!

  14. Interesting that the Greek sororities were the ones raising the money for heart patients and they caved into somebodies feelings. Where is John Belushi when you need him?
No wonder the Greeks have been overrun so many times throughout history. Too much time thinking about war instead of actually engaging in it and winning a battle or two.

  15. just when you thought stupid could not expand any more than it has. wow Einstein had it figured out…..”Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I’m not sure about the former.”

  16. That the student is totally ignorant is one thing, but I would have hoped for a wee bit of intelligence from the “place of higher learning”. Fiesta is Spanish and Spanish people are not people of colour; they are white. In fact there are even natural blonds. The gal should have been told to get a life and then ignored.

  17. The way I act and speak every day at work would get me thrown off that campus in about 10 seconds apparently. Somebody in the administration needs to grow a set of cojones.

  18. I agree, and add Liz J’s comment to that.
The progressive takeover of our society that Friedrich Hayek warned about in “The Road to Serfdom” is becoming more apparent everyday.

  19. I agree, and — unless I missed something in the article — the headline saying that it was about the use of the word “fiesta” was, um, misleading, to say the least. Maybe I missed something (it does happen), but I read the article twice, and couldn’t find any objection to the word.
Cinco de Mayo in America seems to have become an excuse to have a party, preferably with lots of alcohol. An analogy might be if Canadians decided to celebrate the 4th of July by boozing it up.

  20. Close it down before the infection spreads.
“Last April, Dartmouth cancelled classes for a day to hold a public forum addressing a small student group’s concerns that the Ivy League school supports social ills such as sexism, racism and capitalism.”

  21. “Phi Delt president Taylor Catchcart explained why the Greek organizations folded. “We felt that the possibility of offending even one member of the Dartmouth community was not worth the potential benefits of having the fundraiser,” he said.”
Just to be crystal clear here, Cinco de Mayo is the celebration of a battle. El Día de la Batalla de Puebla (English: The Day of the Battle of Puebla) A battle between the Mexican army and the French. The Mexicans won the battle although they were outnumbered almost two to one, hence the celebration. But they lost the war, and the French p0wn3d Mexico for three years.
At which point the American Civil War had ended, so the American army came down and helped chase the French out of Mexico.
So really, if the Americans want to celebrate Cinco De Mayo they’re certainly entitled, given that they paid in blood and treasure for the privilege. Without the Americans there wouldn’t even be a Mexico.
If I was a student at Dartmouth I’d wear a sombrero and talk like Speedy Gonzales just to rub it in. Arriba, Arriba! Andale, Andale!

  22. So what are all those Latinos doing running around dressed like white folks? (except the white latinos of course) I want to see them forced to wear their urban sombreos and walk around bare foot instead of co-opting another races apparel.

  23. Senorita Hernandez is offended by the partying on Cinco de Mayo? Has she seen what’s been done to St. Patrick’s Day? Get over it. Besides, Cinco de Mayo is hardly noticed *in* Mexico.

  24. “Without the Americans there wouldn’t even be a Mexico.”
But we should not hold it against Americans, they meant well.

  25. She should get a ride in the Paddie Wagon, because she is obviously as thick as two short planks nailed together!

  26. The issue boils down to this.
On the one hand, if you’re not Hispanic and you decide to have a “fiesta”, you’re a racist, because that’s “cultural appropriation” as only Hispanics are allowed to have “fiestas”.
On the other hand, if you come across some Hispanics having a party and you ask them if they’re having a “fiesta”, you’re still a racist, because that’s a stereotype.
In other words, you’re a racist no matter what you do.
This is not a bug, it’s a feature of “political correctness” and the ongoing war against freedom, justice and capitalism that arose from the Frankfurt School (although it has its roots in the Kant-Hegel philosophical cult that spawned Marxism).
Capitalism is not a “social ill”, it’s the political/economic system founded on the principles of freedom and justice.
If there were any justice, Daniela Hernandez would be informed that her behaviour is bullying, and if she doesn’t stop it, she will be tossed out of the school.

  27. I await Dartmouth’s decision to ban Hispanic-American students from holding Thankgiving Day turkey dinners.
They should certainly not be permitting the cultural appropriation and exploitation of Eastern Seaboard WASPs of Mayflower ancestry!
