  1. When people are above the law , because of race, gender, or social standing or even who they choose for a partner. You have lost any semblance of a Democracy. You have an oligarchy with a caste system.
The very basis for common law has been equality before a Law for all. Collectivism with a Political class has killed any form of fairness. As has its human rights tribunals.
Now an arm of a despotic system of Government.

  2. The theory goes that the longer you shelter the yutes from the consequences of the criminal justice system, the less likely they are to become embroiled in it…works right up until someone gets dead…

  3. Typical socialist government subterfuge and cronyism. The Dis have been in too long and the natural progression from “house cleaners” to an old boy’s syndicate is in its last stages – it shows. Watch for more executive interference in the police function and course of justice as they entrench corruption as a normal function of administration.

  4. Well,if the Yanks saw fit to call the Fort Hood massacre,”workplace violence”,I suppose it’s okay if the Crown in Winnipeg calls this episode,in which no one died, “youthful exuberance”.
Had anyone died, mind you, they undoubtedly would have escalated their estimation to “youthful follies”.
The cheee-ild, only 16,two years older than our Little Omar,by the way,is probably well on his way to a useful life as a law abiding citizen, despite carrying the weight of this episode on his conscience.

  5. Since Justin is now coming out as the spokesman/defender of the middle class this case would not fall within his purview.

  6. Well one of the contributors to the establishment of the Oligarchic culture is, as we know, the struggling, unable to adapt Canadian journalism cottage industry.
    Think I have now hit a super trifecta of not being able to post on CBC; CTV; Toronto Star and affiliates and the Globe and Mail. Guess I need to change my opinions. Not! Cheers;

  7. well if you leave these chiluns in the slammer too long they just become better criminals, they will move from 22 and sawed off bird blasters to them thare evil Joo uzis!!

  8. A 5000 dollar fine, a lifetime ban on owning firearms and two years in jail would be my recommended sentence.. Seeing as he was 17 I would leave the transfer to adult prison open depending on his attitude in juvenile detention..
The fine is to punish the useless parents.. The firearms ban is to protect the public and make it easier to round this little shite up later and the jail time is to give this criminal a chance to reflect on his conduct and maybe change his ways..
Every juvenile committing a dangerous crime will have his or her sentence adjusted to give them time in adult jail.. If the child criminal shows true remorse and a positive attitude while in detention this transfer could be waived (My soft side)..
But really its more of a carrot and stick / reward for conducting themselves lawfully..
If the criminal ends up in court again for the same crime their punishment starts again on top of their original sentence.. 10 000 dollar fine and 4 years in jail..

  9. How the ‘justice’ system treats you depends very much on what your politics are, how much money you have, what your racial heritage is, and who your parents are. We do not live in a nation of laws.

  10. Revnant Dream said: “You have an oligarchy with a caste system.”
Yes, we do. In fact, it can easily be demonstrated that we always have had, right since 1867. You look at some of the sweetheart deals guys like Sir Allan MacNab (of Dundurn Castle fame), David Thompson (of Welland Canal fame, built Ruthven) John A. McDonald, and etc. managed to score over the last 200 years, you realize we have always had an undeclared aristocracy in this country.
It used to be who your daddy was, now its just down to connections and what skeletons you might have helped bury. Or a position in government, ask Michael Bryant about getting away with killing bike messengers.
So yeah, we have a “stealth” oligarchy in this country. And because we are STUPID, we keep voting for it and keeping it in power entirely voluntarily.
On the bright side, this kid will inevitably screw up far beyond his Mummy and Daddy’s capacity to push it under the carpet, and the hammer will come down on him like Mjolnir. Or one of his “associates” will cap him one day in a drunken rage. That could be convenient for the taxpayers.
