Reader Tips

Tonight, we watch some film footage from 1935 showing a large group of Roman policemen riding their motorcycles in a very un-Italian way – in other words, calmly, in synchronized fashion, and with no angry shouting or rude hand gestures.
Very impressive — eat your heart out Busby Berkely.

  1. Via Maggie’s Farm: A financier has purchased 1500 vacant/abandoned lots in Detroit — 140 acres in total — for $500,000. Which works out to just under $3,600 per acre. In a *city*.
He’s planning to turn it into an urban forest: raze the buildings, clean up the garbage, and plant 15,000 hardwood trees.

  2. Re: Italian video. Nice–but I can tell you it wasn`t filmed in 1935. My guess is 1965.

  3. 60 Minutes reported tonight on Benghazi.
Despite a “year-long” investigation, they didn’t manage to find anything about why there was no backup coming, which is what their interviewees wanted to know.
I guess if the reason were that Obama needed his sleep for his golf date the next morning, it would have made their heads explode?
The comments at the CBS page I looked at were mostly scathing.

treasury Inspector a General audit reveals that $67 Million in ACA implementation funds are unaccounted for.
    Excerpt:
TIGTA also found that the IRS did not track all costs associated with implementation of the ACA including costs not charged to the HIRIF. Specifically, the IRS did not account for or attempt to quantify approximately $67 million of indirect ACA costs incurred for Fiscal Years 2010 through 2012. Indirect costs include, for example, providing employees with workspace and information technology support.

“The key piece here is just how unprecedented the warming of Arctic Canada is,” Gifford Miller, a researcher at the University of Colorado, Boulder, said in a joint statement from the school and the publisher of the journal Geophysical Researcher Letters, in which the study by Miller and his colleagues was published online this week. “This study really says the warming we are seeing is outside any kind of known natural variability, and it has to be due to increased greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.”
    Yeah … right baby.

Naturally … the same clowns who helped bankrupt the city claim to be entitled to exemption from the consequences.
Function of Mathematics …. yep if you are a Detroit pension benefits claimant …. you are now worth 16 cents on the dollar.
Which is probably what you were actually worth before you helped destroy the city.
