Margaret: Death Of A Revolutionary

David Thompson;

Durkin’s film not only offers a useful history lesson, it’s also a nimble shredding of quite a few leftist myths. Its highlights include contributions from Madsen Pirie, who really ought to be on TV more often, and some comically disingenuous squirming by Mary Warnock and Neil Kinnock. During the Kinnock interviews, pay close attention to Durkin’s right eyebrow. A lot can be said with an eyebrow.

Watch it here. Update and an apology – the video seems to be unavailable in Canada. I’ll replace the link if I find another source.

  1. Considering the context of the socialist revolutionary takeover of western European and North American society during the last six decades I would totally agree with the thread caption that Margaret Thatcher was a revolutionary. Although I suspect that socialists would call her a counter-revolutionary or White reactionary.
    Belisarius, I could not access the video either.

    It has become necessary to “shed leftist myths” in the misinformation era – it has become a prerequisite for reasoned/objective thinking. Since leftist mythology eclipsed reason in the 60s, we have essentially been living under a monopoly of social disinformation run by corporate media and their partisan cronies – not unlike the info war the Russian people experienced in the cold war and the North Korean people find themselves in now.
    Big lies are propagated to serve the political interests who the media must kowtow to. In this case the myth was created that Thatcher (the last political leader in Britain who actually has a positive, far-sighted vision for her country, was passionately loyal to the nation and its people, and existed for middle class civil justice) was some fascist dictator who destroyed Britain and trampled its working class. Of course this is the political myth spinning of the hard left union executives whose snug sinecure she deposed and whose economic over reach she disempowered for the good of the nation and union members, – but this is not the historic record reflected in the media.
    The Media also omits from its historic record that Thatcher’s policies created the largest post war boom in middle class prosperity, since the Marshal plan. But the partisan negativity in media of the day was fed upon by generation after generation of partisan journalists in their latter day references to the Thatcher years – so much so, that a Soviet style lie of mythic proportions is regurgitated mindlessly without a thought to fact checking.
    As General Jack Ripper once said : “this is how your hard core commie works” – well this is how our biased corporate partisan media works and there isn’t a great deal of difference between them and cold war Pravda where political reporting is concerned.
