  1. An elderly man shot and killed a would-be burglar inside his Oak Cliff (Dallas) home. Police say the homeowner saw Deyfon Pipkins, 33, trying to climb into the window and fired his weapon at least once at the intruder.”
    Later,
“Some (of Pipkins relatives) showed up at the house. They were upset, and questioned the homeowner’s actions.”
    Lakesha Thompson, Pipkins’ sister-in-law:

“He could have used a warning. He could have let him know that he did have a gun on his property and he would use it in self-defence.”

Absolutely. Because I’m sure Deyfon gave the elderly homeowner advance warning that he’d be burglarizing his house..

  2. AVAAZ is trying, again, to shut down Sun News.
    http://www.avaaz.org/en/stop_fox_news_north_2013_a/?bdlmScb&v=22289
This is their link. It might be amusing, but I do not think it would be useful to use their link to put a pro-SUN message, because they are filtering the messages before submission.
However, going directly to the CRTC web site and supporting Sun News will more likely have impact.
    Go here:
    https://services.crtc.gc.ca/pub/Intervention/Submission-Soumission.aspx?lang=e&EN=2013-19&ET=N#SE0
Step 2: select, “I Agree” and hit next
Step 3: Select option 1 and next
Step 4: Scroll down to “2012-0687-1: Sun News General Partnership” Hit Next
Step 5: select, “I Support” and insert a supportive comment: Hit Next.
Step 6: Select “do not want to appear” and “I agree” Next
Step 7: Select “no” then add your personal info next to the mandatory areas “*” click the accept box and hit Next
    Step 8: hit Submit!
Better yet, mail a letter. Much more impact.

  3. And yet even in Texas, even with castle doctrine, the matter goes before a grand jury to see if charges will be laid.

  4. Tomorrow is our youngest grand daughter’s wedding day.
When the traditional toasting of the newlyweds has concluded, I will raise a silent glass of bubbly to EBD and Kate McMillan at SDA THE CANADIAN “MIRACLE” blog, for giving me the opportunity to Post this email, my revised version advice to the Newly appointed Minister of Aboriginal and Northern Affairs, Bernard Valcourt with cc’s to those named in the email.
I will not again abuse my posting privilege at SDA on THIS matter.
    J.
    ……………………………………………………………………………………….
    Attention the HON. BERNARD VALCOURT
    DEAR SIR,
I congratulate you on your appointment to Minister of Aboriginal and Northern Affairs.
I suspect you are well aware of the turmoil within the First Nations Bands within Canada.
Inasmuch as your Government has been considering abandoning the much maligned “Indian Act” wherein Women living on Reserves do not have “Property Rights” among other restrictions for self sufficiency, a grassroots consensus of regulars at Tim Hortons in Woodstock Ontario offer a solution.
Joseph (Joe) Molnar now 81 years of age will undertake with the help and some enabling Mass Media to raise to Canadians the awareness of the First Nations Women plight on reserves in regard to the lack of those rights.
Molnar seeks only a sponsor for a modest motorhome and would not accept ANY other financial help, it’s not about Molnar but First Nations Women on “reserves.”
Another matter is the total chaos forever bedevilling First Nations Bands insofar as aboriginal leadership is concerned.
First Nations, long seen as “takers” by the majority of Canadians, now have two potential leaders in Shawn A-in-chut Atleo, the National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations and Clarence Louie Chief of the most successful First Nations Band in Canada in Osoyoos BC.
Recent events with Attawapiskat Chief Spence make Chief Atleo and Chief Louie the obvious choice to remake the Band “takers” stigma into SELF SUFFICIENT Capitalist Bands.
I have already outlined that proposal to a number of your fellow MPs as well as the Prime Ministers Office how to implement that change.
My MP Dave MacKenzie has that info, as well as Jim Flaherty, Jason Kenney, James Moore, Diane Ablonczy and of course the office of Stephen Harper.
An EGOLESS meeting at a venue in Delisle Saskatchewan, of the smartest people in Canada focused on building a “WORLD CLASS” ( and, FOR PROFIT ) Medical Centre equaling anything in the world, right there IN Osoyoos British Columbia, on Chief Clarence Loiue’s Bands’ land. ….. Indian land!.
I would add this to my earlier condition for anyone attending the meetings in Delisle Saskatchewan : all attendees would by agreement, leave their EGOS at the airport or major centre of arrival, the only mode of transport to the meeting venue would be by, pickup truck, gravel hauling truck , horse drawn carts or on back of Donkeys, al a Jesus to Jerusalem.
By the way, Delisle, is the hometown of the World Renowned, Conservative internet blog, “Small Dead Animals,” Editor Catherine ‘Kate’ (mensa) McMillan’s successful blog, a story in itself.
It can be do sir, will you do it?
It’s now up to YOU !!
I AM however enlarging the original list of invited EGOLESS participants as follows:
    CC’s to:
Dave MacKenzie -MP Oxford County Ontario
    PM. – Stephen Harper. Ottawa
Clarence Louie – Chief of Osoyoos Band BC

“The suspects accused of providing support to the group include: San Diego cab driver Basaaly Saeed Moalin, 36; Anaheim-based cab driver Nasiri Taalil Mohamud, 37; Issa Doreh, 56, an employee at a money transmitting business that was allegedly the conduit for sending the funds to the organization; and Mohamed Mohamed Mohamud, 40, the imam at a mosque frequented by San Diego’s immigrant Somali community.”
Steyn was on to something with the correlation between terrorists named mohamed but this is rediculous.

  6. Toronto Council’s vote to make the city a “sanctuary” has no legal weight whatsoever, as far as I know. Immigration is a federal issue, not a municipal one.

  7. CTV London Friday, Feb. 22, 2013 6:46PM EST
Dr. Hazel Lynn, the Grey-Bruce medical officer of health, unveiled a new report Friday that suggests wind turbines can cause physical harm.
Lynn, working with research assistant Dr. Ian Arra, spent months reviewing 18 wind turbine studies from around the world.
“Basically, what we found was that all of the peer-reviewed [papers], which is the highest level of papers that we could review, all showed an association with distress people and wind turbines.,” Lynn says.
In fact they found that every single study showed some level of distress caused by wind turbines, some severe, some as simple as occasional headaches.

  8. Watching this woman talk about her hands, I got the feeling that her success has required more than smooth skin, graceful knuckles and well-formed fingernails.
    Calloused kneecaps, for example.

  9. I can’t open the youtube, just the thought makes me anxious/
I find that after the link to the liberal party yesterday…I’m afraid a “youtube” about a woman that loves her hands just might be *GASP* Margie Gillies. I”m sure you all understand.

  10. I went to the link Black Mamba provided and noticed that next to that article was a list of the most commented articles. A quick recap ,Sweden is lost. 4 of the 5 articles were basically venting outrage over the oppression of Islam.
One started with this ” Police in Stockholm have been accused of racial profiling on the city’s public transit system by targeting “foreign-looking” commuters in an effort to deport illegal immigrants”.
It appears that Sweden’s upper-class twits and progressives have joined hands with islam to belt out “We are the world”.

  11. And so it should. Do you want the police to be the sole arbiters of whether or not a specific shooting was a “good shoot” under the terms of the Castle Law?
In the case it sounds like the homeowner was fully within his rights, and no tears should be shed for the perp, who had a record, anyway.
But suppose the gunshot victim was an innocent person, who appeared at the window, not to break in, but to try and get the attention of the house occupant for some reason?

  12. Cbc changed the title of the Layton bio-pic from ” Smiling Jack” to “Jack”. I think that is a bit prentitious. I think “Jack the man” would be closer to the real story.

  13. Say what you want about the hand model, I don’t think she is on any guvmint entitlement program.
“I can make a full time living out of, about five inches.” She also has a sense of humour.

  14. I agree that the cops shouldn’t be the sole and final arbiters of whether a shooting is legal or an illegal act. I mean, I’m sure in this particular case that the cops at the scene absolutely knew that the unknown black guy who was trying to climb through the window wasn’t just some innocent guy trying to get the elderly homeowner’s attention because his car had broken down or something (any sane person would knock on the front door or ring the doorbell) but you’re right, it’s important that a grand jury, or a judge, or some other sober body look at all the facts to determine whether the shooting was justifiable or not under the so-called castle doctrine. And given that Lakesha and other relatives of Deyfon were gathered angrily at the house afterwards, I’m guessing that the homeowner wouldn’t object to having his actions/response deemed justifiable by a grand jury either.

  16. Who could forget the look of anticipation on smiling Jack Layton’s face when he signed the coalition agreement with Dinky and Separatman Doucet to overthrow the Conservatives. Somehow I doubt that little farce will be shown in the CBC production.

  17. Grey Lady – are you referring to that over sized swan thingie woman that Sun TV interviewed? If so, The comparison is valid, IMO.
