Most schmaltzy, feel-good movies have happy endings so carefully and formulaically constructed that even a po-faced, tone-deaf viewer who missed the first hour will experience the correct emotions right on cue — all it really takes is the right music, and some Big-Ending Faces.

    Editorial: “All rise in the Court of Chutzpah. In an open letter to President Barack Obama, the elected members of the Utah Sheriffs Association implicitly threaten violent resistance to any attempts by the federal government to enforce Mr. Obama’s executive orders on gun control.”
    “‘We will enforce the rights guaranteed to our citizens by the Constitution. No federal official will be permitted to descend upon our constituents and take from them what the Bill of Rights – in particular Amendment II – has given them …”
    “Perhaps, like Martin Luther King, the Utah Sheriffs are dedicated to opposing laws they consider unjust. Fair enough – then quit.”

    “Judge Brown’s frustration is understandable” [but] “Mr. Lewis is determined to use his discretion wisely.”

    By the logic of Monday’s editorial, Lewis should quit.
    It wasn’t that the police were deciding how best to do their job of enforcing a court order, which is what the editorial mistakenly appears to believe (or would have the reader believe), it was that they were refusing to do their job.
    “All rise in the court of chutzpah”, indeed. It is not credible to castigate the Utah sheriffs for interpreting the law in a certain way that the Globe disapproves, while praising Ontario police for doing the same thing in a way that the paper approves.
    Given the thumbs-up for lawlessness in the editorial of Jan. 19, it took a hell of a lot of chutzpah to publish the editorial of Feb. 4.

I think Newt Gingrich employed many of those tactics during his campaign; and I think the crowd responded very positively to those type of tactics. 4 example when Newt brought up the issue of poor kid working at the school to earn some extra money, the crowd was in full agreement. unfortunately the only person who seems to be able to articulate be conservative point of view besides Newt is Sarah Palin, who doesn’t have nukes wealth of knowledge and experience, but is about just as Electable.

    I’m with Mayor Ford: No ban on plastic bags. (I often wonder if TO Councillors have stocks in Glad Bags …)
