  1. Thanks Robert for posting this for those who do not get SunNewsTv or missed it. This segment was just as good listening and watching it as it was the first time.

  2. Wall has done well for Sask and I applaud his stand on equity in sharing resources and in the rule of law. This is normal. This a constitutional, ethical and democratic stand on the issue of neo-Marxist group politics and its nepotistic entitlement pecking orders. Wall’s is the opinion we should reflexively hear from ALL our elected officials.
To favor one group over another is a breech of constitutional protocol and the written letter of the equitable rule of law. Equity is a fundamental principle of social and legal Justice. To engage in any program or agenda that introduces official nepotism is therefore an act of sedition to undermine the rule of law. I believe any or all politicians, jurocrats and bureucrats who breach this fundamental principle of law/justice/liberal democracy should face arbitrary removal and prosecution.
On a more cerebral note, to accept this idea that a sovereign nation should surrender natural resource wealth to its Aboriginals because somehow it is “theirs” by right of a logical fallacy (the “we were here first” illusion), is probably the most self evident irrational notion currently in circulation in the neurotic dreamscape that comprises far left dogmas. Any elected representative who can buy into this kind of revisionist fairy tale is too delusional to be trusted with political power and the public interest.

  3. Occam, excellentn comments.
I agree; the notion of ‘First Footstep’ means eternal ownership is nonsense. Sovereignty over the land is a political and not a genetic value.
And Wall’s argument is correct. It is a legal fact not only that resources are the domain of the provinces, but that this therefore means that the AFN cannot argue that Ottawa should include them in the profits of those resources.
I think that the Reserve System should be scrapped; give each native a settlement, and, treat them the same as anyone else.
The Royal Proclamation which they constantly refer to says nothing about their ownership but instead orders that treaties be made which legally hand over the land to the Crown when the land is settled. This was done for all of Canada. The treaties are very clear about the removal of title to any land claim.
It’s over, and the natives have to move out of dependency.

  4. Premier Wall is a breath of fresh air.
I live in western manitoba and have watched Saskatchewan prosper under this great leader.
All the deadbeat Saskatachewan NDP big wigs moved to Manitoba to work under Premier Selinger. Aren’t we lucky !!!

  5. Isn’t that nice, he (gov’t) ‘shares’ the resources with all the people when he builds a highway.
That pretty much tells you all you need to know. If he can share them, or he can choose not to share them. The decision rest with the vagaries of politics. As happened for 70 years.
Isn’t democracy grand? Everybody can be equal. Equally poor, or equally rich…according to the whims of politicians who can’t get a real job. A lefist’s wet dream.
And where’s this highway he built? Just a clue, first fix the existing highways.

  6. Who knows, maybe he’ll start ‘equally’ sharing the resources from the surface of the land next. As long as it’s ‘equally’ shared, it has to be good, right?
Politicians certainly have that power. The CWB was a form of that. Isn’t democracy grand?

  7. I wish Alberta had a rational, principled conservative leader like Brad Wall. I voted for one, but instead I got the Progressive corruptocrat (but I repeat myself) Red Ali. Sux to be Albertan right now.
Good leadership has been a long time coming for Saskatchewan, I’m happy for you.

  8. ET, Occam;
A modest proposal. When presented with the argument “we were here first!”, do you think an immediate rejoinder of “no, the dinosaurs were here first. That’s why there’s oil here.” would do any good? I haven’t found that the “we were here first” crowd want to talk archaeology or human migrations, so I’m trying to find a discussion ending quip that cuts their argument off at the knees.

  9. I’ll trade you Christy Clark for Brad Wall any day,AND throw in Gregor Robertson and a third round draft choice!
If I hear the “education” argument one more time I’ll puke. Education is and has always been available to any FN person who wants it. DIAND had schools in many of the remote Rez’s,but they were shut down by the Indians in the early 80’s,and taken over by the local Band.
In BC, we hold seats in BCIT and the universities specially FOR Natives. This has been known for many years,so I don’t know where the fiction that Indians are deprived of an education comes from.
Perhaps it’s because so few on the poorly-managed Reserves decide to take advantage of it that gives the impression there’s none available.
Now the AFN is “demanding” a school on every Rez. Why? To continue to isolate the Rez kids? I think some of the Chiefs will do anything to maintain their power, even sacrifice the lives of the Rez kids, though NOT their own kids, who will go to far off cities to attend first rate universities, all at taxpayer’s expense.
Pine Creek Reserve Chief/activist Derek Nepinak is a good example of this.
I can see the logic of building schools on extremely isolated Rez’s like Attawapiskat or Fort Ware, but anywhere the kids can be bused to an existing school in a nearby “White” community, they should continue to do so.
And for the isolated Rez’s,who are the Bands going to hire as teachers? Most teachers are NOT interested in moving to third world frozen villages to ply their profession, even isolated white man’s villages have a hard time getting teachers. Ask the school district staff in Prince George how difficult it is to get teachers in some of the small towns in their area.
When you consider the overt racism against outsiders that exists on many Rez’s,not many teachers are going to work where everyone hates them.
I hate to say it,BUT,the best answer would be boarding schools located in the existing towns like Prince George. Management of the schools would have to be the responsibility of the AFN,of course, because the white man already proved he can’t educate Indian kids. So, build the schools with FN funds, staff ’em with FN-approved teachers, and let the FN’s look after their own.
I don’t see any problems with this, and anyone here who suggests any, is RACIST!

  10. I have never been prouder of our leader Mr.Brad wall. It’s time to quit giving these people a blank cheque all the time.If they want a share of the resource revenue then GET OFF YOUR BUTTS AND GET A JOB.!!! Employers in Sask are bringing in immigrants to fill jobs while we have thousands of Indians on welfare who refuse to work or go to school to learn a trade etc.!!!!

  11. Dmorris: Not a chance! I don’t think there are any draft picks from the left coast that fit our new playbook, as for Moonbeam and mi!f (in her dreams) Christy I can’t help you if you can’t get ’em out of your basement!

  12. Brad Wall literally defines LEADERSHIP. I envy those of you living in Saskatchewan…We in Alberta had Leadership at one time…but since the days of Red ED and his cousin REDferd….we now look at 3B in deficit and God help them…a frickin provincial sales tax. Well all I can say is…don’t even think about it Allison.! It will be your and your so called conservatives undoing.

  13. People are like a herd of cows, seem to need a leader. I’ve even noticed cars seem to mostly go in herds on 4 lane highways.
The fact the leader probably doesn’t know any more than they do doesn’t seem to bother them.

  14. Great interview with Sask Premier (the only sane Premier in the Dominion): thank-you for linking Kate. Our Yukon cable co., Northwestel, is still in the dark Liberano/Dipper ages; it pretends that Sun News does not exist when I phone to ask for access.
Meanwhile…back on the rez; favors are required for access to education funds; esp if a person happens to be a pretty young lady.
