I think I found a way to cure the housing crisis on most reserves…….As a 180 degree twist on the “chief’s driveway is always paved” phenomenom found on most reserves,make it mandatory the Chief (and family members) only get the WORST housing on the ‘rez…..Two years(winters really) tops,the best homes in Canada will be on aboriginal housing developments…..Just a thought.

What’s getting interesting is that the infrastructure for conservatism is getting built up enough in this country that the silent majority that used to only voice these sorts of opinions at kitchen tables and around camp fires can are now being heard in the mainstream. People today feel empowered to stand up and stop playing the PC game of white liberal guilt.
    We’re seeing this across the board.
    In the past few years alone, leftists have been hurling everything and the kitchen sink at Harper and co. Examples?
    Occupy, #votemob, Stop Harper, student strikers, and now Idlenomore.
    None of it is working.
    What’s more…it’s not working in a way that’s far more ‘epic fail’ then ever before.
    Demographics? Internet? Conservative Party apparatus? SunNews? blogs? life experience?
    Maybe all of the above?
    In the meantime, I’m loving that leftists are flailing and not able to gain traction. They are stuck in 1999 and they can’t get up.

  3. After seeing the “financials” that Ezra showed I would suggest that audits and the appearance of massive corruption be exposed. If this was white municipality the police would have investigated and made some arrests years ago. But some are more equal than others and get a pass.

  7. Ezra’s rant was great up until the last few lines where he implicitly conceded that the reserve system is alright as long as they can fix the accountability problem. He concluded that the fixing of the leaky roofs and broken pipes is the responsibility of the Chief, paid for by the Canadian taxpayers not the residents of those homes. Idle no more could have a good connotation if it meant that the residents assumed private property rights in the homes they occupied and maintained them themselves.

  8. Let’s stop calling it a hunger strike. Chief Spence in on a crash diet until the PM and Governor-General meet with her. The media should be ridiculed relentlessly for covering this and acting as her PR mouthpiece.
    Think of beef you have with your local council or any government department and call up your local CBC outlet with a press release outlining the problem and say your are going on a diet until the authorities deal with your grievance. Ask them why they won’t come and cover your story but they will cover Chief Spence’s diet and the Idle Ever More crowd.

    Ezra is correct about that Chiefass, she is one mean, heartless lump of lard. That gal and her pals live high on the hog while the rest of the band live in dumps and the kids look like waifs from the third world. She and her pals withhold millions from the people who own that money while whining at us (taxpayers) to ‘take care’ of the Awapiskat people! She is worse than a tinpot dictator because she is a mom and you would think she would have some compassion for the people she knows. That woman is beyond contempt, IMO.
    The money she and her pals have been hoarding would make life a lot better for every man woman and child being held in economic captivity in that N. gulag. It is just and right that the people on that reserve should be asked and allowed to vote on what each one of them would like to see done with all those $$. Chiefass should be forced to make a public apology to the taxpayers of Canada, the Prime Minister and the people of the reserve she says she represents. If all the people are in on the scam and living in those horrible conditions as part of that scam then the whole thing should be verbally outed and the scam blown sky high; all the funds should be used to pay down the debt or returned to Canadian taxpayers via cheque.

  14. I think that the only way we’re going to deal with these discriminatory policies against the white population of Canada is to engage in large scale civil disobedience. That means carefully researching the police response to the Indian blockades of roads and rail lines and then doing the same thing as the Indians. If the police move in, then they’re guilty of selective enforcement and now we have Sun TV to point out the two tier system of justice that exists in this country.
    Unfortunately most of us tend to be working and not unemployed third generation welfare bums like the “idle no more” protesters. Still, if a campaign like this was started it could greatly embarrass the statist leaders of the Canadian gestapo. What it takes is people who are willing to go to jail to prove a point. Also we’ll need lawyers who are willing to point out the violations of the Canadian constitution that are occurring by this discriminatory policing by the Canadian gestapo. I’m curious if any of the Indian protesters in the blockades that have taken place (aside from Gustavson lake) have ever been arrested on firearms charges.
    Sun TV is to be congratulated in showing photos of the fattest hunger striker in the history of this tactic. How long do you think it will be before she claims it’s fluid retention from hypoalbuminemia secondary to starvation?

    75% of the adults on the reserve are stuck on permanent ‘idle’. How many households have both parents working? Will Charlie Angus step up?

  19. Lets have a look at this. A lot of people work for the Band and make a great living tax free. About 100 people work for the Diamond mine and earn a tax free living. They live in houses owned by the Band. Do they pay rent? Do they pay for water, electricity, heat? Even though these people make a living does the band cover all expenses? I think Harper has had enough of this 10 BILLION DOLLAR per year scam called Indian Affairs. In poker terms he’s ALL IN. Spence and her crowd are bluffing.

A rally in dowdtown Saskatoon or blocking the rod to the Dakota Dunes Casino may be needed. Please someone start the ball rolling.

    Just a small correction if I may, and with all due respect… It is not starvation that is threatening the children of Attawapiskat and elsewhere. If anything the vast majority of FN kids are in fact obese due to the relatively sudden and excessive consumption of carbohydrates. They are the exact opposite of starving waifs.

  25. Thanks for posting the Attawapiskat site, batb. I spent some time on it the other day and tried to post a comment about it here but somehow couldn’t get through the filter. I wanted to post about the $36,000 spent on the Annual Goose Hunt. Some enterprising reporter (oxymoron i know but none-the-less) should investigate this expenditure more closely and see if this is the amount spent by the tribe to purchase ammunition for the hunt. I believe that a clause in the Indian Act requires the government to provide ammunition for First Nations to conduct subsistence hunting, perhaps some-one here more informed than myself can confirm this? It would seem that a band of roughly two thousand members would have perhaps five hundred or so that would be active hunters and as such $36,000 seems quite a lot of money for a Goose Hunt on the shores of James Bay. Might be cheaper to import some frozen turkeys, oh wait I forgot they’re already trying to have Pat Martin and Charlie Angus brought in for a photo op.

  26. Chief Spence is beneath contempt for the way in which her reserve business is conducted and for her obvious ploy of playing a gullible media in order to extort more tax dollars. Considering the amount of cash that flows into the reserve and the exorbitant salaries and perks for Spence and her cohorts, the living conditions for the average Attawapiskat dweller is nothing short of a disgrace. This is not the fault of the federal government. The blame lies squarely on the shoulders of Spence and her sidekicks on
    council who have no more empathy for Indian concerns than did George Armstrong Custer.
    Not all Indian reservations are horrifying, third world hellholes. Take the time to Google Darcy Bear and see what can be accomplished with principled leadership. Contrast Bear’s accomplishments on the Whitecap Dakota First Nation with those of Spence and the reserve that she is “managing”. Spence should be tarred and feathered and paraded through the streets of Attawapiskat just prior to being jailed for a long, long time.

  27. Doesn’t Chief Escalade Chief realize she has forced people to wait her out to see how long she lasts on her hunger strike? With her current diet, I would give her 30 more years. You don’t go on a hunger strike for a month and still have a beam a couple ax handles wide.

  31. I think Ezra, whom all Canadians owe big time for his expose of this scam artist/Chief, has just uncovered a small corner of the systemic corruption on Attawapiskat Res,with his “Theresa Linklater” item.
    There are undoubtedly dozens of payments to Spence and other Band Councillors for questionable “services”, that’s how a corrupt politician operates.
    I knew the accountant for a northern BC Indian Band back in the mid-80’s,a white woman married to the son of the Chief.
    One day,in a conversation with her husband present,she told me the corruption on that Reserve was appalling. The Chief’s son just stared at the floor and looked embarrassed.
    One story she told me was of a government grant to build fencing on the Rez. The government gave the Band $35,000 to build the fence,the Chief took $18,000 for “administration” of the project.
    The fence ended up being about one third complete,while the Chief was currently demanding more funds from the government to cover the rest of the project.
    Spence IS desperate,and there can be no other reason than to continue the cover up, and I believe there is LOTS to cover up. Thank you Ezra Levant.

  36. Carolyn Bennett is on Power and Politics. She is pushing the tired ‘nation to nation’ spiel,nothing new there.
    However,she starts the interview off by telling why she visited the Spence today. Ms. Bennett would have us believe that she travelled up fronm Toronto to bring warm jackets,boots,firewood,etc.
    I call BS on that. Spence and her entourage have been there for three weeks ,they already have warm clothing,and who in their right mind brings firewood from Toronto to Ottawa? If anything Bennett went there to write prescriptions. That would make more sense. Why did she lie about her reasons to go there?
    Charlie Angus was expected but was a no-show,perhaps he has seen Ezra’s show.

  38. Bill Good had Hettie Frye on yesterday morning on CKNW.
    Between the two of them they had tears in their eyes and voices over this issue. How mean Harper is to refuse to see her, etc. A gentleman waiting on the phone was then brought in to give his opinion. It differed greatly from Good/Frye in that he stated these places are milking taxpayers dry and even a one sixteenth Indian can get a taxpayer free University Education. So, all this boo hooing about these poor native kids getting a raw deal from Canada is bogus.
    I thought Bill Good was going to go through the phone and eat this guy alive! He just landed on him with the idea that newspapers overseas are criticizing Canada because of this ( the Guardian) and didn’t he think Canada’s reputation before the world was important enough to address this embarassing situation etc.
    They all think we taxpayers are as stupid as stumps.
    It is Bill Good and Hettie Fry who should be embarassed and are stupid to expect the rest of us to buy their propaganda that Stephen Harper is the bad guy when it is clear Teresa and her hunger strike are both bogus and the entire thing is a fraud.
