Tonight, in an out-of-context performance given years ago at the very heart of Canada’s future, Québécois vocal sensations Les Baronets (Céline Dion’s husband René Angelil is le gonze sur la gauche) control our musical agenda with a medley of Ces Monde Plein d’Histoire & Je Suis Seul.

Man SDA has been weird lately. Gonna have to hit the tip jar. Coming soon Kate.
That NYT front page would fit right in with much of the thinking of today’s media.
People’s Cue did a great job. Someone spent some serious time on that.
That would be People’s Cube. Time for grampa to go beddy bye.
Re: Les Baronets
Wish I was back in 1967!! I would guess it was the best year that I recall. It was the year of EXPO. Everyone got to go to the World`s Fair, and I got to stay home and pump gas for my Dad.
I recall campers, trailers and station wagons with tents mounted on the top. Everyone was headed east. One couple pulled in the station with a 65 Buick Wildcat. It had a bad connecting rod. They were from the Shaunavon district. We called the GM dealer, he said it would take two weeks to fix it. About five minutes after they had pulled up, their neighbours showed up with a 54 Ford. They unloaded the luggage, everyone got in the Ford and headed for Montreal. They came back three weeks later, the Buick had been fixed and the old Ford hadn`t skipped a beat there and back.
Mayor Bloomberg?

Patsplace: “Separation of Church and State is to protect the Church, not the other way around.”
You’re right. Not many people understand this; they think it’s the other way around.
I’m getting “assertive” about my rights as a Christian and as a seventh-generation Canadian whose Christian antecedents built Canada into the caring, compassionate country it’s become, welcoming people of different cultures and religions from all over the world.
I will not quietly acquiesce to being hurled into the basement or completely off the bus. Christians need to know their history: that our social safety nets exist largely because of Christians, that schools and hospitals were largely founded by Christians for everyone not just other Christians, and that out-of-the-cold/heat programs, food banks, clothing depots, etc. are Christian initiatives supported, largely, by volunteers who generously give of their time, treasure, and talents.
The myth of Christians’ being the bad guys, the oppressors, is a pile of crap, is a meme pushed by the godless Leftards. I made the above pitch just yesterday in a small bakery and a woman sitting at a table said to me on my way out, “I’m with you.” The silent majority has to speak out. I didn’t diss other cultures, I simply said that in this so-called “multicultural” country of ours, I wasn’t, as a British Christian, going to be consigned to the outer reaches and told that my culture’s no good.
Speak up, people!
Disproportionate response: it’s a Jewish thing.
Well, since they’re so much more clever than the rest of us, one would expect they could think of a more clever solution.
There goes that myth…
batb, exactly. In Soviet Russia during the 1920s this denigration and closing down of the churches and arrest of Orthodox and Catholic priests and protestant ministers occurred rapidly. Here, those that wish to have the same end result are much more subtle and are going about it slowly, just like gradual erosion by the Marxists of the rest of our liberties.
The thing of it is, that in the Russia of today, thousands of the churches and cathedrals have been rebuilt or reopened and they are full of people.

The cost of 1967 lasted a long time as I recall.
I wonder, are we still paying for the roof on the Big O?

“Finavera Wind Energy Inc.
Thursday’s close: 40 cents a share, up 0.005 cents
52-week trading range: 13 cents – 52 cents a share
Annual dividend: none
Analysts’ ratings: none
Recent history: The Vancouver-based wind farm developer has faced a gale force of woes that have sent its shares plunging from its 2007 perch at nearly $9 a share. Shares of the clean-tech junior, which focuses on projects in Canada and Ireland, have languished after taking a big hit during the financial crisis. Its shares have lost 7 per cent this year, but perked up recently after Finavera put itself up for sale. At the same time, the company called off its proposed $22-million sale of its Wildmare project – one of four in British Columbia – to Innergex Renewable Energy Inc. And Ian Harvey, a company director and founder of B9 Energy Services Ltd., resigned from its board due a potential conflict with a bidder.”

Hey, Texas Canuck! I can’t help myself!
Like Ken K. says — who knows because of his family’s experience in the Soviet meat grinder — the end result of acquiescence and quietism, aka, being wimps, is, as Kate says, not going to make those who oppose us our friends.
We’re at the tipping point in North America: Either we re-appropriate our heritage — which includes our Judeo-Christian spiritual and British/European cultural history — or we forfeit our freedoms to the godless Leftards.
It’s really that simple.
Ken K., as you know, we’re created as spiritual beings and if we don’t worship the one true God, we’ll find other gods to worship. As Bob Dylan put it in Slow Train Coming, 1979:
… you’re gonna have to serve somebody, yes indeed You’re gonna have to serve somebody
Well, it may be the devil or it may be the Lord
But you’re gonna have to serve somebody …
It’s wonderful to know that there is a resurgence of Christian faith in “Mother Russia,” which has a deep and long spiritual heritage.
