  1. Revnant Dream, I love how that Telegraph article says the increase in gun sales is due to fear of a new assault weapons ban. “Owners of guns have been stocking up because they are concerned about a potential tightening of regulations on assault weapons in the president’s second term.”
If only it was just that. Its a vote of non-confidence in the electoral system and fear of social breakdown, is what. Stupid Brit journos.

  2. On a brighter note, those are some nice cars and cute girlies in that video.
Complaint! I’ve got a cool car, how come cute girlies never jump in it at random gas stations? 🙁

  4. Great teeth …. will every American have the right to great teeth -FREE – in Obama Wonderland?
    MM

  5. @Phantom: I remember the first AWB (assault weapon ban). People didn’t think it was going to be real. This time I think not only do people fear the collapse of the union but they also remember the AWB quite well too.
Quite frankly I think it would be near impossible to ban any semi autos this time around without states not enforcing the rules to outright civil disobedience…

  6. The USA could be on the edge of splitting apart.
Residents of eighteen states have started petitions to secede from the union. Each state is a sovereign entity that voted to join the union in the first place so it is legally possible that they can leave the union if enough voters want to. As the economy worsens more and more people are going to look at this option.

Michael st.paul regarding great teeth – the brits have ‘free’ dental work too since 1943 when the National Health Service was created. My Scottish friend has a sister in Birmingham, she and hubby fly to Spain for dental work from an expat Brit dentist. It’s quicker and the work done is better.

  7. @phantom

  8. Socialism is a murderer? Who knew?
    Ergo, socialists are murderers.

“Spain looks at eviction reform after homeowner jumps to her death as bailiffs arrive”
“MADRID — Spain’s top parties will tackle eviction law reform on Monday after a homeowner’s suicide provoked public fury and accusations that politicians and banks are complicit in de facto “murder”.
Close to 400,000 Spaniards have lost their homes since a property bubble burst in 2008 and the nation subsequently sank into recession, throwing millions out of work and unable to keep up mortgage payments to the banks.
However, the suicide of 53-year-old Amaia Egana has inflamed a public already angered by what they see as a lack of compassion among Spanish banks, many of which have benefited from taxpayer-funded bailouts organised by the political elite.”

  9. Moonbats indeed! Twits indeed!
“… the achingly self-righteous Monbiot produced the most abject mea culpa in living memory:”.
    …-
“George Monbiot and Sally Bercow may pay dearly for joining a lynch mob”
“George Monbiot, the Guardian columnist, and Sally Bercow, the Lefty wife of the Speaker, may soon be getting stern letters from m’learned friends about their online smearing of Lord McAlpine. They were in the thick of the online lynch mob that used Twitter last week to wrongly identify the former Tory treasurer as a paedophile.
As Boris Johnson points out this morning, it’s hard to envisage a more damaging accusation against a man. Yet Monbiot and Bercow were happy to encourage this appalling falsehood, doubtless finding the very idea of a top Tory paedophile simply too irresistible to ignore. There has never been a more graphic illustration of the way Twitter can be used quite casually to destroy someone’s good name. When the truth emerged, Bercow’s apology was hardly steeped in contrition: “Final on McAlpine: am VERY sorry for inadvertently fanning flames. But I tweet as me, forgetting that to some of u I am Mrs bloody Speaker”. It is not easy to fathom what she’s on about, but that sounds like the response of a naughty schoolgirl caught telling a whopper.
In contrast, the achingly self-righteous Monbiot produced the most abject mea culpa in living memory: “I have helped to malign an innocent man. I have done a few stupid things in my life, but nothing as stupid as this. The tweets I sent which hinted – as I assumed to be the case – that Lord McAlpine was the person the child abuse victim Steve Messham was talking about were so idiotic that, looking back on them today, I cannot believe that I wrote them. But I did, and they are unforgivable. I have helped stoke an atmosphere of febrile innuendo around an innocent man, and I am desperately sorry for the harm I have done him.”
If Monbiot has put as much thought into his original tweets as into his apology, he might not now be facing the possibility of costly legal action.”

  12. “Nick Robinson: Winston Churchill’s bitter battle with the BBC”
“In an extract from his new book about the relationship between politics and the media, Nick Robinson recalls how Churchill finally came out on top in his long-standing feud with Lord Reith”
” John Reith, the BBC’s founding father, had always disliked Winston Churchill and ended up loathing him. After the war, he remarked: “A whole lot of people could have done it better and more cheaply.”
Even when Churchill was dead, Reith refused to walk past his commemorative plaque in the floor of Westminster Abbey. The feeling had been mutual. Churchill referred to the puritanical Scot who towered over him as “that Wuthering Height”, and wrote: “I absolutely hate him.”
These two gigantic egos were always likely to collide spectacularly. Both men had enormous self-belief and very little self-doubt. This was a personality clash with policy consequences. Churchill never forgave the BBC for what he saw as the censorship of his views. Years later, he would exact his revenge.”

  13. 700,000 protestors against the Left-Wing government in Argentina!
    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/southamerica/argentina/9666350/Argentines-flood-the-streets-to-protest-against-President-Cristina-Fernandez.html
There are still sensible people in this world who actually protest AGAINST higher public sector wages and government spending, and against the dangerous Hugo ChĂĄvez precedent of re-writing constitutions in order to re-elect Leftist rulers indefinitely. They also have the cojones to physically defend the Church when the Church is physically attacked.
Long live the Argentine Tea Party! (Partido Teista? — Theist Party?) 🙂

  14. The Phantom
I take his understanding of the situation with a truck load of salt. The UK “fixed” the manhood of the British male or citizen a long time ago. Being neutered is now their natural state. To think in Europe not to even carry a sword was considered the unusual thing! So of course to him its regulations he fears.
PM Harper at least headed that off here. For that, Canadians can trust him.

  15. This is crying out for a “Let me fix that headline..”
“Harper among least trusted leaders, poll shows ”
    http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/harper-among-least-trusted-leaders-poll-shows/article5187774/
    From same article…
“The survey found only 16 per cent of Canadians place “a lot of trust” in their Prime Minister, putting Stephen Harper near the bottom among all leaders in the Americas
    .
    .
    .
The levels of trust are also low for the Canadian Parliament (17 per cent), political parties (10 per cent) and mass media (6 per cent).

It’s that baby, aka El Nino, aka Jesu.

“Don’t get used to the warm weather, Ontario — it’s about to cool down again”
“Beverly Archibald — director and meteorologist of True North Weather Consulting Inc. — says the unusual weather is likely being fuelled by El Nino, a warming of surface ocean temperatures in the eastern Pacific.
She says if El Nino persists there will likely be more snow in store for the Prairies while Eastern Canada may see more swings between warm and cold weather.”

  17. “BREAKING: The ‘secret’ list of the BBC 28 is now public”
“WUWT readers may recall this post last week:
The Secret 28 Who Made BBC ‘Green’ Will Not Be Named”
“The BBC pits six lawyers against one questioning blogger, Tony Newbery of Harmless Sky, who was making an FOI request for the 28 names. In the process, the judge demonstrates he has partisan views on climate change.
Now, thanks to the Wayback machine and Maurizio Morabito (omnologos) we can now read the list that the BBC fought to keep secret. [Damn those mischevious bloggers 😉 ]
This list has been obtained legally. (link to Wayback document.) My heartiest congratulations to Maurizo for his excellent sleuthing!
Maurizo writes: This is for Tony, Andrew, Benny, Barry and for all of us Harmless Davids.
The list from: January 26th 2006, BBC Television Centre, London

  19. FBI agents are combing through papers, etc. in Paula Broadwell’s HOME…There is obviously more to this than sex.
“FBI agents on Monday night raided the home of Paula Broadwell, the alleged mistress of former CIA director David Petraeus, WCNC reporter Dianne Gallagher reported via her official Twitter account.
Gallagher said “two men with briefcases just showed up to the Broadwell home… ran inside.” The reporter also said later “dozens of people” showed up to the home, carrying bags and boxes inside, possibly to gather evidence.
“FBI agents have been inside Paula Broadwell’s Dilworth home for about an hour now. About a dozen there, with bags/boxes, taking pics,” Gallagher added.”
