Mother Teresa Catholic secondary school is turning a second-floor office into an Islamic prayer room — the first high school in the city, private or public, to do so.

I can’t figure out taxpayer supported religious schools in Ontario. I understand them in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba because a French crap disturber named Riel got it included in our constitution, the extended version authorizing those provinces.
Scar…..maybe it would help to remember that Riel was not only a Frog, but also Indian,so he had the lazy socialist and the blame-monkey going for him.
Fiddle @ 2:08 : I like your line of thinking!
Black Mamba, the -proper- sacrament is salty cashews and beer, but this is high school we’re talking about, pop is a reasonable substitution. Besides, I’m the Pope so I can write a bull for you if you -absolutely- have to have wine. You can use chips and popcorn in a pinch too. We’re not too doctrinaire in the Taoist Presbyterians.
Not letting you off on the ritual belching though.
The age old canard, It’s only a few radicals, the majority are peace loving.
It was only:
A few radical Germans – Nazis
A few radical Russians – Communists
A few radical Chinese – Mao Communists
A few radical Cambodians – Pol Pot
A few Radical Rwandans – Hutu’s
These countries ‘few radicals’ killed approx.2-3 hundred million.
Why would anybody worry about a few radical Muslims?

I am proposing changing the education model. This is not an end to public education at all. It is a restructuring of roles and responsibilities.
The goal is to free individual schools to specialize in specific areas of education. Without getting into a lot of detail examples would be schools that specialize in math and science programs or language and art programs, or athletic and health programs. Specialization could occur in literally any area of education.
These schools at a minimum would use a standardize curriculum set out by the Ministry of Education. But in addition to that they would establish innovative programs in their area of specialization that surpass ministry standards. Schools would operate much more autonomously than they do in the current model.
Funding for the schools would come from education vouchers provided by parents. Schools would compete with each other in what would be described as a free market context. Their program offerings, their teacher profiles, their facilities, their area of specialization etc. would all come into play in attracting students.
Another goal is to take big unions, big bureaucracy and big government out of the equation and to place the responsibility of educating children back into the hands of parents, teachers and local administration.
@ Jim Horne
Would Kim Jong Un or Infidel Castro agree to ending Public Schooling? No.
My position is the direct opposite of theirs. Which position are you (and your mentor Milty) closer to?
Rizwan (Me No Commie; what about you?)
Just like the leftists who wake up every day with a blank slate. “What can we re-invent, using other peoples money, today?”
—fiddle
just like a lot immigrants also wake up everyday and wonder what they could get for themselves that other people would pay for, you know like prayers rooms for muslims…
Western Nations have become masochistic; they want everyone to use and abuse them and treat them like sh*t
Dick Slater >
“Taxpayer-funded “separate” schools only exist at all in Canada because….”
If you look at your Property Tax statement each year, you can see that you have a choice to allocate whatever percentage you want between (separate or public) school systems. 0% to 100%.
So you are absolutely free to give nothing = 0% to the Separate (Catholic) school system if you don’t want too. I doubt anyone who is not Catholic knowingly does, which means that the Separate School system is essentially privately funded by Catholics through their tax’s, not yours.
It’s too bad the Muslims and a few others don’t have their own school system as well to keep them out of the schools we send our children too. They’ve turned our children into second class citizens in the nation that their ancestors founded, and they won’t convert. Polls show that 40% of Muslim British Born Students support Sharia Law.

Christians of today are beginning to remind me of stories I read about Jews in Germany before kristallnacht…

“Educate your own damn kids.”
Actually I agree 100%, I’m 100% in favor of home schooling & private schools. I can damned well afford it in spades, and I could give a rats ass if you can or can’t.
Mixing oil & water is impossible.
Shouldn’t the school now be be referred to as ‘The Mother Teresa Islamic School’?
Sorry Fiddle. You are wrong. The consensus amongst translations is that it’s all about the fact that you are instructed to treat others as you yourself wish to be treated. This is the very foundation of Christianity that moves beyond the mere 10 Commandments.
Go here, and read all of the different translations:

But this is an interesting view into the conservative mindset.
Thank you all.
I know which threads to avoid in the future.
I prefer recalling burning the old defective Qur’an’s. We need to take a page from how the left operates.
Simply make revisions to remove the more hateful terroristy things and keep mass producing it.
As long as that trashy book is the focal point of their religion islam will never be detoothed.
All organized religions scare me. They are all fanatical and petty at heart and all believe they are righteous. But that doesn’t make me an atheist. No, just that I don’t need the structure and the indoctrination they offer.
As regards the Mother Theresa Catholic school, I predict a name change in the future as most of the Catholics completely withdraw their support (i.e., stop sending their children there). I’ll check back in a year or two to see if I’m right.
John, Quebeckie, Dick Slater, assorted anti-Catholic trolls, just air-lift yourselves to some godawful hellhole where there are no Catholic schools and churches, like North Korea or Iran. Stay there for a while. I’m sure you’ll be happier there than you could be anywhere else.
Moving on, why a Catholic school, particularly one named for a soon-to-be saint whose charity moved some Muslims and Hindus to work together, will not defend its own beliefs tells one what those who run them believe and why they should be hastily replaced with those who would defend the Church and work hard to impart knowledge on their students.
Rest assured, there are no Rosaries said in Saudi schools.
Yet…
Ref
John’s many lame attempts to make Catholics, or Christians, or Westerners in general, commit suicide-by-Islam
As John pontificated early on:
“… Love thy neighbour. Turn the other cheek. Do unto others …”
None of these exhortations to respect and get along with “your neighbor” or “your brother” or “your fellow man” is applicable in the case of soldiers at war with you. Not a one.
*NONE* of the quotes you’re citing is a call to personal or civilizational suicide. There is NO moral imperative to refrain from self-defense –or national defense– against those who are intent on invading your country, killing you, seizing your property, and selling your wife and children into slavery (or worse).
The goal of Islam is, quite simply, to conquer the world. Muslims have been invading/ attacking/ threatening/ terrorizing/ destroying/ murdering/ conquering for 1400 years now. Islam is what Islam does — the record speaks for itself. It is *NOT* a Religion of Peace, it’s a religion of Yield-or-Die. (And the tally is hundrds-of-millions dead.) Yes, I’m aware that not all Muslims are rabid jihadists; there also exist many “moderate” Muslims who do not actively participate in Islam’s “conquest by the sword”. However, a very high percentage of the “moderates” still believe that Islam must and will prevail. (They disapprove of the tactics, not the goals, of Islam and its fundamentalists.) These “moderates” are still enemies of our civilization, despite the fact that they don’t blow anybody up.
Defending our lives and our civilization against the encroachments of Islam is a GOOD and a NECESSARY thing. To re-state from above, we are NOT called upon to let our enemies enslave or kill us to prove what virtuous Christians we are.
Last thing, John – a question (well, two of them):
Why are you trying to paint our struggle to prevent Western culture from being overrun by a 7th-century totalitarian theocracy, as somehow
immoral? Do you prefer the death and stagnation of Islam over the creativity and vibrancy of the West? That just seems like such a, a, um, –I don’t know, maybe “self-hating”– thing to do.
There weren’t any Christians until the 2nd Chapter of Acts.
The Gospels are about Jesus speaking as the King of the Jews to Jews, not Christians, Jews.
Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.
~Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews
Jesus quotes the law and the prophets to the people who know the law and the prophets, The Jews.
Christians are not Jews and are not under the law, they are under Grace.
Luke 22:36
Then said he(Jesus) unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.
In case, John, you think Jesus commands here to buy a sword so that the sword can be beaten into ploughshares, your thinking would be mistaken.
It would also be a mistake to think that Christians cannot put their enemies that threaten them to the sword just because Christians themselves wouldn’t want a person to put them to the sword.
Philippians 2:12
Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
Consensus has nothing to do with it.

Jesus threw the money changers out of the temple, and was big time physical about it. They were the bankers of the day collecting usury.
And they Jesus followers carried swords for self defence – The M4 carbines/ Ak-47’s of their time.
Remember Jesus friends trying to protect him in the garden? They was pack’n serious heat, but Jesus wanted to be arrested so he told his homey to chill out and then fixed the dudes ear.
Matthew 26:51
John 18:10 Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, cutting off his right ear. (The servant’s name was Malchus.)
Mark 14:47 Then one of those standing near drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear.
