Reader Tips

Music and politics generally make for a poor mix, but blogger Lexington Green of Chicago Boyz may have found the perfect theme music for Obama’s campaign kickoff rallies, which the New York Times’ Mark Landler recently described as “having the feeling of a concert by an aging rock star”: here are The Evaporators and their impossibly handsome lead singer Nardwuar the Human Serviette performing Half-Empty Halls.

“‘In general, for the Ninth Circuit to do something sensible is headline news,’ said Stephan Thernstrom, a Harvard University professor and race relations expert at the Manhattan Institute. ‘It’s the most overturned appellate court in the U.S. courts by far.'”

  2. Obama’s Liberal Experiment Has Failed
The trivial Elizabeth Warren “high cheekbones” fraud nonetheless offered a draw-back-the-curtain look into the gears and levers of our national race industry. The real story is not that the multimillionaire liberal (and one-percenter) Warren fabricated a Cherokee identity for over a decade (to the delight of her quota-thirsty universities), but rather the notion that if a pink blond at Harvard can get away with faking a career-enhancing minority identity, then anyone, anywhere, can—or rather often has.

RT: Nabila Ramdani in The Independent (UK):

There are all kinds of reasons why one might fear a François Hollande presidency, especially if you are a prosperous French person. The 57-year-old Socialist has openly admitted that he “does not like the rich” and declared that “my real enemy is the world of finance”. This means taxing the wealthy by up to 75 per cent, curtailing the activities of Paris as a centre for financial dealing, and ploughing millions into creating more civil service jobs.
Add an explicit threat to renegotiate the euro pact to replace austerity with “growth-creating” spending, and you have one of the most vehemently left-wing programmes in recent history.

  4. At The Gold Report, a must read interview with David Stockman, former director of the Office of Management and Budget under President Ronald Reagan 1981–1985.

TGR: Finally, what is your investment model?

DS: My investing model is ABCD: Anything Bernanke Cannot Destroy: flashlight batteries, canned beans, bottled water, gold, a cabin in the mountains.

  6. Heard on Hannity today about the surprise Obama and Hillary are planning for their final gift to the U.S. before they are defeated in the fall. Six new treatys are to be signed, one of which forces the Americans to pay half of all oil revenues harvested off shore out to two hundred miles to some global agency, by law and irrevocable by any future president or congress. Another one forcing Americans to support financially all underprivileged children around the world by law, by transferring money to a global agency. Also some law about rearresting Americans found not guilty of a crime in a U.S. court to be tried in a foreign court for the same crime. And a whole load of other retarded laws for Americans, wrapped up in (fluffy sounding)treaties. Pick your jaw off the floor stuff, stick a pitch fork in the states its done. Hannity on Sirrius 125

  8. This was written by a 21 yr old female who gets it. It’s her future she’s worried about and this is how she feels about the social welfare that she’s being forced to live in! These solutions are just common sense in her opinion.

    Put me in charge . . .
Put me in charge of welfare/food stamps. I’d get rid of cash for Ding Dongs or Ho Ho’s, beer & liquor, just money for 50kg bags of rice and beans, blocks of cheese and all the powdered milk you can haul away. If you want steak, wine and frozen pizza, then get a job.
Put me in charge of Medicare. The first thing I’d do is to get women Norplant birth control implants or tubal ligations. Then, we’ll test recipients for drugs, alcohol, and nicotine and document all tattoos and piercings. If you want to reproduce or use drugs, alcohol, smoke or get tats and piercings, then get a job.
Put me in charge of government housing. Ever live in a military barracks?
You will maintain our property in a clean and good state of repair. Your “home” will be subject to inspections anytime and possessions will be inventoried. If you want a plasma TV or Xbox 360, then get a job and your own place.
In addition, you will either present a check stub from a job each week or you will report to a “government” job. It may be cleaning the roadways of trash, painting and repairing public housing, whatever we find for you. We will sell your 22 inch rims and low profile tires and your blasting stereo and speakers and put that money toward the “common good..”
Before you write that I’ve violated someone’s rights, realize that all of the above is voluntary. If you want our money, accept our rules.. Before you say that this would be “demeaning” and ruin their “self esteem,” consider that it wasn’t that long ago that taking someone else’s money for doing absolutely nothing was demeaning and lowered self esteem.
If we are expected to pay for other people’s mistakes we should at least attempt to make them learn from their bad choices. The current system rewards them for continuing to make bad choices.
AND while you are on Government subsistence, you no longer can VOTE! Yes that is correct. For you to vote would be a conflict of interest. You will voluntarily remove yourself from voting while you are receiving a Government welfare check. If you want to vote, then get a job.

I like it. One accountable dept. is all we need. The more bureaucracy involved the less gets done. Thats why we elect them. To get things done.

“Japan Shuts Off Final Nuclear Reactor”
“(TOKYO) — Thousands of Japanese marched to celebrate the switching off of the last of their nation’s 50 nuclear reactors Saturday, waving banners shaped as giant fish that have become a potent anti-nuclear symbol.
Japan was without electricity from nuclear power for the first time in four decades when the reactor at Tomari nuclear plant on the northern island of Hokkaido went offline for mandatory routine maintenance.
After last year’s March 11 quake and tsunami set off meltdowns at the Fukushima Dai-ichi plant, no reactor halted for checkups has been restarted amid public worries about the safety of nuclear technology.
“Today is a historic day,” Masashi Ishikawa shouted to a crowd gathered at a Tokyo park, some holding traditional “koinobori” carp-shaped banners for Children’s Day that have become a symbol of the anti-nuclear movement.
“There are so many nuclear plants, but not a single one will be up and running today, and that’s because of our efforts,” Ishikawa said.”

“Fuel bills in Britain will rise this winter because of last year’s devastating earthquake in Japan, experts warned yesterday.
Supplies of liquefied natural gas are being diverted east after the tsunami shut its nuclear power reactors.
It could push the wholesale price of gas up by as much as 28 per cent, energy market analysts claim.”

“Database of Fallen Soldiers Germany Still Locates 40,000 War Casualties a Year
A grisly task: a specialist from the German War Graves Commission retrieving war dead from a site in eastern Germany.
The German War Graves Commission launched a campaign on Tuesday, the 67th anniversary of the end of World War II, to promote its online database as a way for relatives to trace missing soldiers. Some 40,000 are located and reburied each year across Eastern Europe and Russia — where its teams still encounter hostility from locals who remember the murderous occupation.”

    “Savagery in the East”
“How Stalin and then Hitler turned the borderlands of Eastern Europe into killing fields”
“The story of World War II, like that of most wars, usually gets told by the victors. Diplomatic and military accounts are set largely in the West and star the morally upright Allies—the U.S., Britain and Soviet Union—in battles against fascism. The Holocaust gets its own separate history, as a case apart in its genocidal intent and human tragedy.
Timothy Snyder’s “Bloodlands: Europe Between Hitler and Stalin” forces a dramatic shift in these perceptions. First, there is the setting: the flat and marshy eastern borderlands—inhabited by Jews, Poles, Ukrainians, Belarusians and others—that Stalin and then Hitler turned into what Mr. Snyder calls the “bloodlands.” No GIs fought on or liberated this soil, so the fate of its people never entered the collective Western imagination. Yet this was the true heart of the European conflict. By Mr. Snyder’s “conservative” reckoning, 14 million people were shot, deliberately starved or gassed while Hitler and Stalin were in power. All these dead were noncombatants. Mr. Snyder puts a third of the total on Stalin’s account.
Both Hitler and Stalin dreamed of a new European order, one in the name of a master race, the other of a master class. Their visions met in the borderlands.”

“Pierre Poutine’s trail goes cold in Saskatchewan”
“OTTAWA — Elections Canada investigators probing the robocalls scandal hit a dead end when they tried to track the digital trail of suspect “Pierre Poutine” through a computer server in a small town in Saskatchewan.
Court documents filed in Saskatoon last month show that lead investigator Al Mathews obtained a court order compelling the owner of a proxy server in Conquest, Sask., to turn over records of contacts from an Internet address in Guelph, Ont.
But a report on the execution of the production order shows that the search came up empty.”
