  1. The price of saving your children from being destroyed by unionized teachers force feeding politically correct drivel into their gullible little minds.

  2. Bizarre, eh? But this is a result of the failure to provide adequate quality public places. In the east, it continues into regular school where desperate parents try to get their kids into the best private schools they can afford, because the public schools are regarded as dead ends.
In the west, we have traditionally had strong public schools — mainly “problem kids” were sent to privage schools.
Here’s how extreme it can get —
The culture that is Manhattan James Heckman gone wild edition

A mad-as-heck Manhattan mom says her daughter’s Ivy League dreams have been all but dashed — and she’s only 4 years old.
Nicole Imprescia is suing the $19,000-a-year York Avenue Preschool, saying her daughter, Lucia, was forced to spend too much time with lesser-minded 2- and 3-year-olds when she should have been focusing on test preparation to get into an elite elementary school.

It’s the Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence — in other words, the standard IQ test. Everybody who is anybody in Manhattan has their 4-year-olds take this IQ test to try to get into an exclusive kindergarten.
But having a four year old who has never taken a test before take a high-stakes test is a dicey proposition, so preschools in Manhattan are turning into test prep centers. Except this one, evidently, where they just let the preschoolers play. The horror, the horror …

“If a child needs to start in pre-school to get into the Ivy League, that is a problem of the Upper East Side, not of education.”
Some kids get into elite colleges by turning out really, really smart. But others get in via an 18-year grind — leaving no stone unturned, checking every box, using every connection, and pursuing every possible advantage, however slight. This the latter approach.

  3. why people think
student should seat and study and
all free for them do all job
    and all lesson and
only teacher and professor should get moneymaker here
and they should sink in loan for studnet
if you can not afford univeisty and you accpted for go to univeristy and if you smart to go to university
then you must put your asss to seat and work it means study
    work is equal== study
people who go to university are more time spending and more headach and stress than people for government who work 4 hour and rest doing nothing and stealing time and get paid no matter what!!!
now if you go to univisity drop all loan if you are poor student
if you want stick to pay back loan
is only if you can find job
if student not able to find job
then must pay loan for all job he did and not find job
and all time and all headahce
why studnet should pay loan and if not find job
and who is paying ther time seat and work to become engineer with no job attached
    this flahrity is new insane
cut money to students feess\then he buy big war airlinew that can feed all canadian free food and school
this is mismanage budget of money in canada unfairly

  4. My kids went to a private school last year and there were people there that had taken out loans to pay the tuition. The alternative for poorer parents is to send your kids to awful public schools or homeschool and not every parent is capable of the latter. The funny thing is that the public school in our new community is just as good or better than the private school but it all has to do with where you live. For people in bad neighbourhoods, there just aren’t good public schools to choose from.

  5. Perhaps it was a different time, perhaps fortune had provided an excellant teacher but the 1-room school I attended produced university grads with maybe 1-2 exceptions….one fella who never went to secondary school was a self employed builder renouvator. A brace of his school chums who had the expertise subjected him to standard aptitude tests etc….which showed this literate skilled fellow was lacking the intelligence/aptitude to learn how to read….
Me I lucked out, I went abroad and my employer ordered me to higher learning, or else,…..a requirement for a commision ya know.
It seems that teaching is the last resort for indolent BA types….just a paycheck.

  6. We can see the endgame on this one: greedy and embarassed trade unionists trying to ban “two tiered” education and “extra educating” (tutoring) in order to protect their monopoly with parents forced to pay for the dysfunctional public system through their taxes while trying to clear enough to pay for a real (private) education for their children.

  7. Person going by an “ok” handle – your writing is the worst I’ve seen, and I’ve seen a lot on internet. How about using a spell-checker for starters? Other issue is that what you write requires a lot of thought to even remotely decipher what the hell you mean. In any case, I think you have a gripe with our finance minister – how about writing him directly? Or hang around with other lefty Islam-defenders like you on rabble.ca or some other vomit-inducing website?

  8. I think this is a good sign. It shows that a growing number of parents are deeply worried about the dismal practical learning and ridiculous political indoctrinating in public systems that they want their kids to get a classic education. IMHO graduation in a private school classic education is the equivelent of the second year BSC in the public system. Kids will be more prepared for university and will probablt score better to get into better schools in more practical discaplines.
There are too many educated idiots churned out by the public system and the lame college systems.
