  2. Received in an e-mail from a relative in the States:
    “After reading the headlines today about the US soldier who shot up Afghanistan civilians, I couldn’t help noticing an irony. There is all this clamor to try this guy quickly and execute him, never mind his having suffered a traumatic brain injury. Yet this Major Hasan, who shot up Fort Hood while screaming Allah akbar, still hasn’t stood trial, and they are still debating whether he was insane, even with the clear evidence regarding his motive: slay as many infidels as possible. So we have a guy in a war zone who cracks, and he must be executed immediately. But this Muslim psychiatrist who was stateside in a nice safe office all day murders 13, wounds 29 of our own guys, and they try to argue the poor lad suffered post-traumatic stress syndrome, from listening to real soldiers who had actual battle experience. Two and a half years later, they still haven’t tried the murderous bastard.”

    This is what the war on the family is all about: Demonize human beings but save the whales — because, dontcha’ know, animals are equal with human beings … well, no, not exactly: Animals are superior to human beings because they don’t use up as many of the Earth’s resources.
    This thinking is obscene. No wonder the Vatican talks about “the culture of death” which is now prevalent in so-called developed and “civilized” countries. In Third World countries, children, so many of whom die before their fourth birthdays, are valued. In North America? ‘Not so much.

    When I hear “it’s all about the children” — and I’m a teacher — I gag. It’s never all about the children; it’s all about protecting screwed-up adults’ self-esteem (huh?) and asking kids to behave like grownups, seeing as the grownups have abdicated that role and are behaving like infants.

  27. Cbc had a Canadian press story up about the Toulouse situation. It contained the words ‘muslim’ and ‘islam’.
    I thought ‘wow’ and put in a comment. Went back to the story and it had been cleansed. It is now almost completely purged and they only have a few paragraphs left,no ‘islam or ‘muslim’ to be seen.
    The official cbc version is eagerly anticipated.

    Well, there I’d say they’re about half right, if I may be frank. The mad Catholic monk who preached the gospel to the birds apparently hadn’t read his Bible carefully—if he had, he’d have seen they had no need of it. Nowhere is it written that animals rebelled against God the way humans did.
    It shows, for they follow the Lord’s commands without argument, including that to be fruitful and multiply, in spite of their only seeing the need to procreate once or twice a year in most cases. (Most animals are paragons of chastity compared to human beings.) As well, animals kill only in self-defense or (if they eat meat) for food. One never sees a mother animal kill its own children in the womb or the egg.
    Being by its nature free of sin, when an animal dies, I’m convinced, it goes directly to heaven, far more than most humans can hope for who haven’t asked the Lord to forgive them. Kate’s dogs will make it to heaven long before most environmentalists will.

  32. Most of the photos are from an area well south of the Neutral Hills. Understandable, since there is limited access to the Hills themselves. Lots of very unfriendly landowners in that area.
