Is There Nothing That Obama Can’t Do?

So let’s see. The president sneers at the ignorance of 15th century Spaniards when, in fact, he is the one entirely ignorant of them. A man who has enjoyed a million dollars of elite education yet has never created a dime of wealth in his life sneers at a crippled farm boy with an eighth-grade schooling who establishes a successful business and introduces electrical distribution across Michigan all the way up to Sault Ste Marie. A man sneers at one of the pioneering women in broadcasting, a lady who brought the voices of T.S. Eliot, G.K. Chesterton and others into the farthest-flung classrooms and would surely have rejected Obama’s own dismal speech as being too obviously reliant on “Half-A-Dozen Surefire Cheap Cracks For Lazy Public Speakers.” A man whose own budget officials predict the collapse of the entire U.S. economy by 2027 sneers at a solvent predecessor for being insufficiently “forward-looking.”

  1. Unless Romney has signed an ironclad contract to throw the election, I don’t see how
the “O” could have any expectations of LEGALLY retaining power after November.

  2. All the great successes despite the skeptics were due to private enterprise, not government attempts to pick winners (and ending up with losers). And Abraham Lincoln was a Jewish automotive entrepreneur (per the Tweets).

  3. Sgt, it could happen.Remember HL Mencken,
“No one ever got elected by overestimating the intelligence of the voters.”
Aviator, if so, then please explain Christopher Columbus. If so, then please explain the failure of Roanoke. If so, then please explain the failure of the South Sea Bubble. If so, then please explain the success of Apollo. Absolute statements like yours always fail in historical context.

  4. Doncha just love it when Obambam displays that his wit and wisdom is on par with the wit and wisdom of a constipated turtle? (apologies to constipated turtles everywhere)

  5. Obama always denigrates and sneers at private innovation and individual freedom. Steyn’s column over at the National Review on Obama’s gross historical misinformation and, yes, abuse of the facts about these individuals, shows us yet another tactic of Obama’s re-election strategy.
He wants to set up a set of people whom he claims were not believed when they ‘imagined’ the future, and yet, their ‘imaginations’ were correct. Ahh – so that’s it.
Obama wants us to believe that he too, is an innovative future-oriented inventor whose imaginations are the key to the future. If you don’t accept his agenda (which, by the way, is pure dead-end socialism and hardly novel), then, you are as dumb and close-minded and prejudiced as those who rejected Ford, Edison, Columbus. Because, you see, Obama is as innovative and forward looking as them.
Obama can’t campaign within the real world of facts. And his actual record. Besides, Obama is psychologically unable to relate to the real world. He lives totally in a fictional world of his own making. So, this is basic Obama.
Just as his other electoral tactics of pitting groups against each other is: Basic Obama. His racism, his pitting of ethnic groups against each other, his class warfare and his latest – the ‘war on women’.
Will all of this work? More and more people see through it, but, don’t underestimate his corruption and his inability to live within the world of truth and reality; he’s a pathological liar and his only focus is on: Power.
As an added concern, Obama desperately wants to be added to Mt. Rushmore. I think this is becoming obvious; he refers to that site frequently, and after all, he constantly self-defines himself with the most memorable presidents, starting with Lincoln, and on to FDR and Reagan.

  6. Owebama is a typical product of the universities; he is sneering and demeaning of regular folks, who, by definition are stupid because they didn’t get a progressive education (engineers included). But he has INSIGHT, he KNOWS WHAT’S BEST for those uneducated poor dimbos. Those redknecks in flyover country and engineers in Palo Alto. Plato’s Republic anyone?
This guy is a disgrace to the whole world, not only Americans. He is an empty suite puppet of his string-pullers. He IS the Manchurian Candidate.

Last time I looked the Repubs had not chosen their leader; lets hope that the American citizens have the wisdom not to run Mit against his clone, Barack. Mitt is the architect of Bambi care, he is a big spender on foreign wars, he loves regulations, he was for bail outs…..Is Mitt the ‘new’ IWon?
You must have guessed by now that Ron Paul, the Champion of Liberty, is my choice and my hope for my friends and family in the USA.

  8. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/fact-checker/post/obamas-whopper-about-rutherford-b-hayes-and-the-telephone/2012/03/15/gIQAel6SFS_blog.html
Obama’s whopper about Rutherford B. Hayes and the telephone

Nan Card, curator of manuscripts at the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Center in Fremont, Ohio, can pinpoint when Hayes first tried out the phone: June 1877. Hayes, it turns out, kept 126 scrapbooks of newspaper articles that featured him, and on page 82 of the 111th scrapbook was an account from the June 29 edition of the Providence Journal.
The version of events certainly is different than Obama’s telling. We reprint the whole report below because it gives a real flavor of the moment.
    The President at the Telephone
About 3 o’clock the President enjoyed a new sensation. Under the direction of Mr. Fred A. Gower, managing agent of Prof. [Alexander Graham] Bell, a telephone wire was connected with the Western Union Telegraph wire, tendered for the purpose of manager Bradford, and telephone communication established with Prof. Bell at the City Hotel in this city.
The President was then invited to place one of the telephones, which by the way resembled a rather large-sized bobbin, against one ear, which he did, when Mr. Gower spoke in the other in a moderate tone of voice, saying, “Prof. Bell, I have the honor to present to you the President of the United States, who is listening at the other telephone; do you understand?”
The President listened carefully while a gradually increasing smile wreathed his lips, and wonder shone in his eyes more and more, until he took the little instrument from his ear, looked at it a moment in surprise, and remarked, “That is wonderful.”
During this time Prof. Bell said, according to Mr. Gower, who was listening at the telephone: “Mr. President, I am duly sensible of the great honor conferred upon me in this for the first time presenting the speaking telephone to the attention of the President of the United States. I am located in one of the parlors of the City Hotel, in Providence. I am speaking to you through thirteen miles of wire, without the use of any galvanic current on the line. I hope that you understand distinctly what I say, and I shall be very glad to hear something from you in reply, if you please.”
At the suggestion to him from Mr. Gower, that he should speak to Prof. Bell, the President said, “Please speak a little more slowly.” A few more messages passed, when the President again remarked, “That is wonderful,” saying he could understand some words very well, but could not catch sentences.
[Pennsylvania] Gov. [John] Hartranft also tried the wonderful little instrument, with much the same experience as the President, saying in answer to a query from Prof. Bell, “I understand you very well.”
Note that Hayes first tried the “wonderful” telephone at the end of June, and then had it installed in the White House just four months later. So, rather than “not looking forwards,” as Obama put it, Hayes quickly embraced the new technology.
In fact, he was a little too ahead of his time, because there were so few telephones installed elsewhere in the county. (The telephone list mentioned above shows only 190 subscribers in Washington two years after the telephone first came to Washington.) According to Hoogenboom, most communications from the White House continued to be done by telegraph during the rest of Hayes’s presidency.
Thus the question remains does the President use Presidential libraries for speech preparation or does the TOTUS do his speech writing?
Further, is it true that Al Gore invented the internet?

The president in particular has a responsibility to get historical facts right, and in this case he got them completely backwards. Obama mocked Hayes for “looking backwards … not looking forwards.” In reality, Hayes embraced the new technology. He should be an Obama hero, not a skunk.
Hayes is dead and buried, but he deserves an apology.

  9. I have a growing sense that Obama’s gonna get a second term.
Have we seen the Tom Hank’s narrated film (about 18 minutes) about Obama — The Road We’ve Travelled (? exact title). As an old friend pointed out, Tom Hanks is a modern-day Jimmy Stewart.
This is flat out IDOL worship.
Flat out Cult of Personality worthy of the best of the totalitarian countries!
NOW, I would dismiss this were it not for a shocking convergence of the central meme of this film (judging by the first 2-3 minutes before I bailed) and a what a good friend said to me the other day: “Me No Dhimmi would you have wanted to be president after two terms of Bush?”.
NOW, this cat is super smart; highly remunerated (mid 6 figures) a Harper supporter; a NRA member who owns many guns. He describes himself as fiscally conservative/socially liberal [an impossibility in my view]. BUT, he’s also strongly anti-religion and hates the Repubs for wearing it on their sleeves.
The opening meme of the Hanks film is basically that no president has had such a burden placed on his heroic shoulders — heavier even than those put on an earlier saint, FDR. This is essentially what my friend is saying.
That’s the theme of the Obama campaign and it just might work.

  10. I thought the failure of the South Sea Bubble was caused by the fact that no one had anticipated the South Sea Pin…

  11. Too many people in this world are secure in their knowledge of the “facts” and “the truth.” They live in their own little cocoons. No amount of contrary information can change their mind.
…Until their cocooned sense of superiority and their dogmatic truth runs into the real world. When it is somebody like our US President, this usually results in something called a (unforeseen) disaster or a war.

  12. Yet no one can see Obamba’s achedemic records, because the gunius has spent 2 million “personal” dollars to have them sealed by court order.
Move it along folks, nothing to see here.

  13. DO
As sapience goes I believe it’s not so much the diverity as the university…
    MND
That seems to be the narrative they’re going with, largely because… what else they got? As you note, a lot of otherwise intelligent people will bite.

  14. Trying to outspend or out media the Dems is a fools game. Obama is quite beatable, so long as his opponents stick to his record and don’t fall for the numerous diversions that the Dems and the Legacy media will try to set up (sound familier?).
Other ways of beating Obama include increasing the campaign of ridicule (Rutherford B Hayes posters being a good example), using the Dems own 8% unemployment without the stimulus graphic wherever and whenever you can and indulging in Samizdat by placing “thanks Barrack” stickers on gas pumps throughout the United States (something to think about if you happen to be there on business or vacation).
A concerted Canadians against Obama campaign would also be interesting, since we can highlight the multi billion dollar losses caused by the KEystone XL pipeline cancellation and document other perverse losses our largest trading partner has caused (to the detriment of both nations).
Canadians should be very concerned about the trajectory of this administration and do whatever they can to ensure Obama is not re elected.

  15. Jema 54
Ron Paul could never, ever defeat Obama in an election. Unfortunately. The best person to serve as President is not the best person to defeat Obama.

“The Republican National Committee put out this satirical poster, ridiculing the professionally-produced [Tom Hanks, the jerk, and Davis Guggenheim, ditto] Obama campaign [propaganda] movie called ‘The Road We’ve Traveled.’ It [the poster] is really very funny. Maybe there is hope for the Republicans after all!”

  17. In his first state of the Union,
George Washington blamed the poor economy on King George II.. (grin)

Was that before or after he shut down the Canadian Fur Traders?

  18. @ lookout: Great stuff 🙂
They should do one with Sandra Fluke and Obama in a golf sandtrap.
    With the caption:
Get America moving again and we don’t mean the ‘Horizontal Mambo’!
How many strokes does he need to “Fluke Up” oilsands pipeline policy?

  19. President No Nothing.
No wonder he sneers, being the Gentry & all.
They where famous for despising Industry or innovation. Just by existing these personages believe the Wold should hail them as heroes for doing not a wit of real work. Just their gravitas. IN this case not even that.
At least Jimmy Carter grew peanuts. This guy just craps on everyone.

  20. That “Austrian” poster is my favourite Obama line. I’ve actually made a similar slip-up once or twice when I was extremely stressed or tired, and which I am willing to talk about only because I haven’t yet managed to track down and k!ll off all of the witnesses.
It was probably a slip-up on Obama’s part, too – the thing is, when Dan Quayle made a similar gaffe it was replayed ad nauseum by the media as evidence of Quayle’s stupidity. It was just training, training, repetition and brainwashing.

  21. Who is the worlds biggest welfare Bum?.. Pres oh!Bummer.. Head of the worlds biggest economy , all taken from other people’s money.

  22. Obama, Harper, Calderon(Mexico) to meet in Washington on April 2
when we talk Mexico it remind of drug trafiking
    so
when people visit jail inmate who stay in long period of time sentenced in jail
they can bring with visitor who see them drugs that is only I THINK can allow drug enter to jail
can they have created device or dog who can smell drug
how they can smell the drug pill estasci pills
so when drug easy move around it proof some police corruption are under neath of this money lundring
we saw tracker device for new car to able to folow them to find lost car as put like chips
now can they put new chips in each dollar that if dolloar are missing they can keep track money
or similar if drug travlers for pharmeceutils some chips track who use or transfer drugs..

  23. Obambam now wants to go into Africa to kill some people, so he has Liberally ill George Clooney over for lunch. Two days later Looney is standing in some passive crowd apparently protesting some obscure African dictator. Surprise! He’s singled out of the crowed and calmly arrested/ sorry, detained by Obambams not so secret service. An hour later after plenty of autographs he’s let out of the jail van to cry about the ordeal.
Who makes this crap up? How far can Obambam think he can really go with such an absurd dog & pony show? Look like all the way…….

  24. @ET “As an added concern, Obama desperately wants to be added to Mt. Rushmore…”
I don’t think that there is enough rock on Mt. Rushmore to accomodate the ego, much less the ears.

  25. Yeah another day another instance of moral relativists passing moral judgements on history using politically distorted optics – what’s really new here. The doctrinaire left are dangerous loonies – yes we see it in a million different ways daily. Yes they are waging a war against western culture. I’m jst surprised the backlash hasn’t taken the form of civil revolt. To accept this daily dose of insanity from political leaders, academia, the media and sundry other presumtious elites is inviting a scrap later on.
Now id the time to stomp these insane ideas out while free speech is still available to us. People in authority who espouse such anti west cultural values should be turfed from office, demand their resignations or hound them mercilessly til they resign. This is the only way western civilization will survive. You MUST contront yout enemies head on.

  26. ‘Ron Paul could never, ever defeat Obama in an election.’
Why not Ralph? Dr. Paul beats the ‘present’ president (Bamma) in polls right now – he does better than Mitt and way better than Rick or Newt. Lots of independents and Democrats like Liberty and the American Constitution. All people are not ‘invested’ in big gument.
Check for yourself – msm is heavily invested in big gument so google the polls on the net. Msm are rooting for ‘present’ president or Mitt. Rick and Newt are 2nd; they are terrified of Ron Paul who would rein in the tax $$$$ that they have to ‘play’ with right now.

  27. The hateful statements made about Pres. Obama are the same as the hateful statements made about Gov. Palin on the left wing blogs. It says a lot about one’s true character when when their statements become indistinguishable from the comments of those who they revile.
I consider both equally charismatic and indistinguishably incompetent.

  28. Knight 99 at March 17, 2012 8:40 PM
That’s a very interesting and highly plausible theory about the Clooney “arrest”. It hadn’t occurred to me but you got me thinking. Yes, highly plausible.
Fluke looks like a setup too. Get the knuckle-dragging Repubs talking about ancient subject matter. Helped along nicely by Santorum who tells us that he wanted to puke when JFK said that he wouldn’t be taking orders from the Pope.

  29. ET, I agree with your assessment but remain concerned that Obama will manage to get a second term thanks to help from various radical groups and the American MSM. I have noted that even people whose values are opposite to those of Obama for some strange reason continue to fall under his spell. I find the same with Canadians when the topic of Obama comes up. The disconnect is amazing.

  30. Alain – the disconnect, I think, is due to the very accurate feeling of anyone who sees, hears or interacts with Obama, that HE is disconnected from them.
Obama, I maintain, is a pathological narcissist, which is a serious psychological disorder that isolates him from any direct interaction with the world. He lives within an entirely fictional, imaginary world, where he feels in control of everything and everyone. If he can’t control them or the situation – they and it don’t exist.
I think that people feel, unconsciously, this disconnection. Some have, incorrectly I suggest, explained it as his ‘intellectual aloofness’. Heh. No way. Obama is intellectually barren.
So, since the disconnect is what we experience when we see and hear Obama, we can’t judge him as having any real effect on the economy or the situation. Because he, as a real agent, isn’t ‘there’. Sounds very strange, I know.
Then, Obama fills out our experience of his disconnectedness by his blaming all problems, all reality, on others. It’s Bush’s fault, it’s the fault of Congress, of the tsunami, of ATM machines, Europe..whatever. If you don’t accept his policies, it’s because you are ignorant, or have ‘no trust in him’, or are bigoted, are racist, are politically partisan, are anti-women, are..whatever. He’s aloof from causality.
I think that’s why people don’t just him, because Obama isn’t ‘there’; you can’t grab hold of him. If you try, he denies, slithers away and diverts.
The way to deal with him is to keep on with the facts, and ridicule his rhetoric.

  31. “That’s why he’s (Rutherford B. Hayes) not on Mount Rushmore – [laughter and applause] – because he’s looking backwards.”
Quite aside from being an idiot, which he is, what no-class trash is Obama. I hope zombie Rutherford B. Hayes rises from his grave to tell Barry to say it to his face. Or at the very least haunts him. Mooch Antoinette is not punishment enough for this guy.

  32. They had better send Obamas teleprompter back for refresher courses. It seems to be having trouble with idiot readers!

  33. Michelle Obamba’s Thesis another disgusting display of racism and proves why Affirmative Action does not work.
Thank god the best she could muster with her Princeton BA was a job as the White House gardener.
Unlike Obamba a very dangerous Affirmative Action President with court sealed academic records.

  34. Jema 54:
Ron Paul’s America would be a radical change from today’s version. He appeals to the basic distrust that citizens feel for their government. The Executive has consistantly corrupted the Constitution for decades, both Democrat and Republican. I agree that the status quo in America absolutely fear him the most of all politicans. He threatens their relevency.
Consider PMSH’s struggle to steer the Canadian ship away from those who would plan every aspect of life if they could get away with it. His battle is daily as mis-direction, lies and inuendo pass as truth in our so called media.

  35. Knight 99 – it’s not even the content that gets me. A cynical, clever person in her position would milk the race angle for all it was worth – I get that. What continues to astonish me is her inability to write at a competent middle school level. Scroll down that text and pick a paragraph at random; it will contain at least one eye-watering grammatical or syntactical error. This is a Princeton thesis, and it’s not like she was, say, a bio-chem major, all taken up with molecules and such. She was taking BS social sciences courses. She has no excuse. And yet we’re told that this couple in the White House is all super-smart and stuff. Does anyone honestly believe that?

  36. In a word, Black Mamba, NO. As an assessor of English, I’ve been criticizing Obama’s verbal and written English from day one: it’s significantly sub-standard.
Barry and Michelle Antoinette are way above their pay grade. Isn’t it too bad that they and their henchpeople have managed to fool so many people so much of the time? Tragic, actually.

  37. Yes observer it is well known that GWB has a speech impediment. Unfortunately it would appear that Owebama has a brain impediment.

  38. Black Mamba >
I understand that, and really didn’t expect any more from her Affirmative Action education, nor her husband’s. I doubt a big surprise for most people.
To me though, education alone does not represent a smart person. Some of the dumbest people most of us have ever met are “well educated people”, and vice versa.
I’m interested in their core racial beliefs, regardless of how well educated they claim to be. Obamba and his wife are radicals coming from the fringes of left wing society, with a huge racial chip on their shoulders. This is fundamentally important IMO, but completely ignored and covered up by the MSM.

  39. {quote]They had better send Obamas teleprompter back for refresher courses. It seems to be having trouble with idiot readers![/quote}
As someone familiar with Teteprompters I can state that the text that is Feed from Idiots is for Idiots.
    Obama is a Null…No Balls

  40. Ralph and ct – PMSH won a majority mandate! Ronald Regan was not liked by the msm or the gumunt ilk – he was respected and well liked by the people: Dems, Repubs, Independants, me, Ron Paul.
Ron Paul liked Regan so much that put Regan over the top in Regan’s first victory.
Giving in and giving up are values of self made slaves, IMO. “Stick to your guns and keep your head held high; if you know that you are standing up for the Right thing(s).” A motto I remember hearing from people from the people who homesteaded in this country; some of whom had been sent to Europe be slaughtered in WWI. All the WWI vets I knew would be voting for Ron Paul. I would be too, if I were able to vote. War is not ‘fun’ for the soldiers.
