  1. And if climate scientists were macaroons, there’d be no Pirandello metatheater plays staged at the Rose Bowl…

If we could see the pound per mile of carbon dioxide emitted from our vehicles and spread it out over all the roads in the U.S. over a year it would be about an inch thick, said (climate scientist Richard) Alley. “In a decade there would be no joggers in America,” he said…

  2. Obama says “Yo, Iran, heads up!“:

Israel will only strike Iranian nuclear facilities in September or after the United States presidential elections in November, a White House official told the British Sunday Times newspaper after a meeting between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Barack Obama last week…

“Hey, do you mind not defending your country from potential thermonuclear annihilation until after my victory speech? You’re not going to believe how great it is…”

Obama insisted that any attack on Iran should be postponed until after the US presidential elections in November…

  3. So MSM CTV, files a story on the robocall protest from Calgary, and one of the protesters is a certain Chris McMillan. Geez his face looked familiar, but this was a “non-partisan crowd”, according to our righteous reporter at CTV.
Christopher McMillan, NDP Calgary Centre-North Campaign Manager in the last election.
    Yeah, sure, non-partisan, whatever…..

  4. It’d be good of the CTV to mention (or ask?) those interviewed if their personal details are going to be dredged up by bloggers / commenters.
Thanks DanBC for this…. remember that Andrew Breitbart made his name, simply by exposing the MSM’s dishonesty and bias. 🙂

  6. Just watched a CBC News update. Israel bombs Gaza, kills 18 Palestinians. Gaza retaliates with rockets, and injures 3 Israelis. First time I’ve heard this version.

    “The Year Solar Goes Bankrupt”
“Get ready for a new round of green bankruptcies, as Europe trims back subsidies for solar companies and taxpayers lose their appetite for subsidizing green power.
“The mini-bubble resulting from the rush to cash in on solar subsidies in European and U.S. markets is ending, as feed-in tariffs drop in Europe while loan guarantee and tax credit programs tighten up in the U.S.,” says a new report from Bank of America Merrill Lynch according to CNBC.com.
Germany is dialing back subsidies for solar this month by 29 percent with subsequent decreases each month, according to Bloomberg.com.
Rasmussen has recently released a survey of voters that show a diminishing number of voters support subsidizing the production of the Chevy Volt.
Only 29 percent of likely voters agree with Obama’s latest proposal to include a $10,000 subsidy in the federal budget to support the purchase of every electric vehicle.
The survey found that 58 percent oppose the plan, while 13 percent remain undecided.
And make no mistake, without subsidies solar, electric vehicles, wind power and other alternatives remain a chimera.”

  9. It would be fitting if all the Chevy Volts went to California…Of course Emergency vehicles should have been converted “first” such that we would then know that the technology is valid, or no one in California will be able to escape a simple disaster…

  10. batb to North of 60 (March 10, 2012) “I can’t let your statement ‘Christianity with it’s pedophile clergy’ go unchallenged.”
North of 60: “The point is that the abuse in schools, orphanages, churches, etc. by professed Christians has made a lot of people turn away from the religion business in disgust.”
Now me: That last statement is, sadly, true. However, there is a completely different side to the Church and its priests—the sacrificial one—which it seems people like North of 60 choose to ignore. That is sad too.
At Westminster Abbey, by a statue above the great west door, and in countless other places, Father Maximilian Kolbe has been commemorated as a 20th Century Martyr. Here’s a snippet of his story:
During the Second World War, he provided shelter to refugees from Greater Poland, including 2,000 Jews whom he hid from Nazi persecution in his friary in Niepokalanów. On 17 February 1941, he was arrested by the German Gestapo and imprisoned in the Pawiak prison. On 28 May, he was transferred to Auschwitz as prisoner #16670.
At the end of July 1941, three prisoners disappeared from the camp, prompting SS-Hauptsturmführer Karl Fritzsch, the deputy camp commander, to pick 10 men to be starved to death in an underground bunker in order to deter further escape attempts. When one of the selected men, Franciszek Gajowniczek, cried out, “My wife! My children!”, Kolbe stepped forward. “I am a Catholic priest from Poland. I would like to take his place because he has a wife and children.”
In the starvation cell, he celebrated Mass each day and sang hymns with the prisoners. He led the other condemned men in song and prayer and encouraged them by telling them they would soon be with Mary in Heaven. Each time the guards checked on him, he was standing or kneeling in the middle of the cell and looking calmly at those who entered. After two weeks of dehydration and starvation, only Kolbe remained alive. The guards wanted the bunker emptied and so gave Kolbe a lethal injection of carbolic acid. Some who were present at the injection say that he raised his left arm and calmly waited for the injection. His remains were cremated on 15 August, the feast of the Assumption of Mary.
The man whom Kolbe saved, Franciszek Gajowniczek, later wrote, “The immensity of it: I, the condemned, am to live and someone else willingly and voluntarily offers his life for me—a stranger. Is this some dream? . . . It was the first and the last time that such an incident happened in the whole history of Auschwitz.”
Priest and Bishop Oscar Romero is also commemorated at Westminster Abbey as a 20th Century martyr: http://www.uscatholic.org/oscar_romero
Kolbe and Romero are only two Catholic priests of at least tens of thousands by now—and that’s not mentioning the lay martyrs.
Tertullian: “The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the Church.” The willing sacrifice (not usually to the death) of countless priests of the Catholic Church over the millennia dwarfs the heinous crimes against young people by the few. The Church needs to repent of this dreadful sin and is doing so. To judge the Church solely on its sins, while totally ignoring its astonishing nobility and goodness, is dishonest in the extreme (and, IMO, demeans the person who does it). Made up of sinners, as it is, the Church is far from perfect. But that’s far from all that it is . . .

“Newsbytes: Anti-Green Rollback Begins in UK”
“From Dr. Benny Peiser at The GWPF
The UK government wants nuclear power to be given parity with renewables in Europe, in a move that would significantly boost atomic energy in Britain but downgrade investment in renewable generation, according to a leaked document seen by the Guardian. The EU-wide target should be scrapped when its current phase – requiring member states to generate 20% of energy from renewables – runs out in 2020, according to a secret submission to the European commission. “The UK envisages multiple low-carbon technologies: renewables, nuclear and carbon capture and storage, all competing freely against each other in the years to come. For this reason, we cannot support a 2030 renewables target,” it reads. –Fiona Harvey and Juliette Jowit, The Guardian, 12 March 2012

    “The Art of the Double-Cross
Arlen Specter, one of our least-favorite politicians, is back in the news. He has authored a memoir called Life Among the Cannibals about his decades in Washington. It’s an odd title; Specter apparently enjoyed the “cannibals” so much that, when faced with a tough primary challenge at age 79 after 44 years as a Republican office-holder, he became a Democrat rather than retire to private life. According to The Hill, Specter complains in his memoir that the Democrats double-crossed him after he negotiated with them to provide the 60th vote for Obamacare:”.

  16. Russian Navy Captures Somali Pirates (Video)
How about that! The Russians captured the Pirates, tied them up, put them on the boats, then set them all on fire – puff no more Pirates. NO POLITICAL CORRECTNESS B.S. HERE!
This video shows Russian Navy commandos on a Somalian pirate ship shortly after the pirates had captured a Russian oil tanker. The Euro Union navy that patrols these waters would not interfere because they feared there could be casualties.
All explanations are in Russian with a single exception of when a wounded pirate says something in English and the Russian soldier says, “This is not a fishing boat.” All conversations between the commandos are in Russian. If you don’t understand Russian, the pictures speak for themselves.
The soldiers freed their compatriots and the tanker. The Russian Navy Commandos moved the pirates back to their own (pirate) ship, searched the pirate ship for weapons and explosives and then they left the ship and exploded it with all remaining pirates hand-cuffed to it.
The commandos sank the pirate ship along with the pirates and without any court proceedings, lawyers etc. That is, they used the anti-piracy laws of the 18th and 19th centuries where the captain of the rescuing ship has the right to decide what to do with the pirates. Usually, they were hung.
I would think from now on, Russian ships will not be targets for Somali pirates.

  17. EBD,
Thanx for the tune. Can’t believe I missed it. When was it written? I’ve fell in “heavy like” with ELH when she came out with “Quarter Moon In A Ten Cent Town” and have followed her music ever since then. The “Voice of an Angel” she is. She only fairly recently started touring with “Buddy”.
Good music does south the “savage beast”. Better than church…IMO.

It’s the next one I’m gonna learn. Dropped “D” works well.
