  1. Euro-zone financial squeeze, complacent sovereign bond markets.
The only thing to fear is lack of fear itself.

  2. In “How Obama Makes Decisions” Ed Lasky examines the issue of Obama’s competence, using a number of sources including Ron Suskin’s book Confidence Men, which “portrays Barack Obama as being confounded by his duties as president”:

When Obama’s experts assembled to discuss the scope and intricacies of the stimulus bill, Barack Obama was out of his depth. He was “surprisingly aloof in the conversation” and seemed “disconnected and less in control.” His contributions were rare and consisted of blurting out such gems of wisdom as “There needs to be more inspiration here!” and “What about more smart grids.”
    (…)
He repeated a similar sorry performance when he had a conference call with Speaker Pelosi and her staff to discuss the details of the planned stimulus bill. He shouted into the speakerphone that “this stimulus needs more inspiration!” Pelosi and her staff visibly rolled their eyes.

    The whole thing here.

Killing Baby “Non Persons”–Just Grist for Bioethics Mill.
Here is the paper’s co-author Dr. Francesca Minerva, research associate at the Uehiro Centre for Practical Ethics, University of Oxford, who surely would consider herself stridently pro-choice, arguing that people who object to performing abortions should not be allowed train in or practice medicine. “What is the point of investing public money and resources to provide a degree in medicine for people who put their moral or religious concerns before the wellbeing of the people they are supposed to cure?”

WOW. So now pregnancy is a disease??? Methinks this just proves leftardism/PCness is definitely a mental disease!

  5. Thanks for sharing that Mississauga Matt @ 11:15pm
I have experimented with tilt-shift on Photoshop and have never seen it done on video before. If I didn’t know better it would almost seem that the artist did the effect frame by frame and assembled it back together as a stop motion animation.
    Very cool regardless.

  6. Now that’s a parade !!! — MM @11:15
It reminds me of the annual Calgary Stampede parade, where there are horses and high school bands, and people on horses and high school bands from other places, and horses that poo and the high school bands that sometimes step in the poo (hilarious),and even a semi-drunk Scotsman (Scotty) with border collies, and the list goes on and on…. that’s why it is called the ” Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth”.
This year is the 100th anniversary and to celebrate, there will more horses and high school bands than ever before, some from as far away as Montana(USA). Don’t miss it by spending your vacation money to see a parade that doesn’t have horses and high school bands, and also, keep in mind, 7 minutes of fireworks every night.
Leave your worries behind, but bring lots and lots of cash and credit cards, many, many $9 beers are necessary for your great time at the ” Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth”. Yahoo !!!

  7. Was kind of thinking the same thing wallyj. “The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth” doesn’t quite pass the mustard. Maybe if there were parades like the one in Brazil around here I would be obliged to observe one, until then…

  8. National Geographic channel has a doomsday prepper show on tonight. This stuff used to be the realm of freaks. It is now basically mainstream behavior. Only suckers aren’t doing it, at least from my perspective. Only problem is if the mainstream has caught on the end is near.

  9. Apologizing to Our Killers
When Jimmy Carter was president, I dreaded the morning news, which invariably brought some new embarrassment, whether it was the president boasting that America had “lost its inordinate fear of Communism,” or whispering to the Polish dictator that Carter had not lost hope of bringing the tyrant back to Christianity, or slashing our military strength, or apologizing to the Khomeini regime in Iran for presumed past American sins.
The dread is back. Worse than before.

I hear a sound in the air tonight, coming from wires, satellites, fiber optics, Wi-Fi networks across the Western world.
The broken, quiet sobbing of a$$hurt watermelons.
I want to drink in the bitter tears of defeated ideology, and savor every last drop.
dwright, a bit of melodrama 🙂

  11. so Christopher Plummer took the statue. good for him.
what, no screeching about leftards from hollyweird?

  12. Christopher Plummer’s a very good actor. But he had two things going for him, besides his talent: Hollywood loves “been around a long time” and homosexuals. If Plummer had played an old, heterosexual farmer, his chances wouldn’t have been quite so good, IMO.

“The expansion,” Polte promised, “will create thousands of new jobs in China.”
“The current situation is precisely what German development officials had hoped for. In September 2008 Winfried Polte, the then representative of DEG, a subsidiary of KfW, said that his organization was proud of helping Yingli with its expansion strategy. The first loan agreement had just been finalized. “The expansion,” Polte promised, “will create thousands of new jobs in China.””

  14. I hear there was a large gathering of America’s 1% types last night. They drove up in their limos, flaunted their $10,000 dresses, 100k plus jewelry and even televised this event around the world!
How then, is it possible, that I missed the news reports of an OWS protest at this event?

  15. Bob Rae has just announced that the ‘ VikiLeaks’ twitter story came from the Liberals research center. A staffer has resigned, end of story. Nothing to see here folks.

  17. Neo,I read a story a few weeks ago that had a woman complaining about the addicts. The health center there estimated that 70% of the adults were messed up on oxy at any given time.
    I blame the white doctors.

  18. Kady O’malley has an article or three on the robocall ‘scandal du jour’.
In this article she has a list from Elections Canada that names the polling stations that changed their location during the last election period. There is 126 of them.
What are the chances that these people that are now remembering a phone call from 9 months ago about a change to their polling station may have received a legitimate call?
If only the Conservatives kept their base informed, good for them, that may be one of the reasons that they are not in opposition.

  23. AtlanticJim, I said the very same thing to my wife. Here’s all of these true 1%’ers flaunting their wealth, their looks and their priviledge before a billion or more 99’ers and nary a peep out of the Occupy crowd.
That’s because deep down inside they recognise that they’re all on the same team.
Watching Jesse Watters on the O’Reilly show, it was amusing to watch how the red carpet crowd didn’t want their buzz to be harshed by any political questions about the price of gas or how the country was faring – until they were asked how Obama is doing. Then they brightened right up, saying he’s doing a great job.
I don’t go to Cuba, China or the movies – all for the same basic reason.
Why would I want to finance any of the rascals?
