“1,500 accidents and incidents on UK wind farms”
“The wind energy industry has admitted that 1,500 accidents and other incidents have taken place on wind farms over the past five years.”
“The scale of incidents is equivalent to almost one a day”
“The figures – released by RenewableUK, the industry’s trade body – include four deaths and a further 300 injuries to workers.
The scale of incidents – equivalent to almost one a day – emerges following the publication of dramatic photographs showing one turbine which had crashed to the ground in a field near a road and another exploding into flames, caused by 150mph winds which buffeted Scotland and northern England last week.
Charles Anglin, RenewableUK’s director of communications, stressed that last week’s incidents were caused by “freak weather”. The organisation said that no member of the public had ever been hurt as a result of a wind turbine accident.
A dossier of incidents, compiled by a campaign group opposed to wind farms, includes cases where blades, each weighing as much as 14 tonnes, have sheared off and crashed to the ground.” http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/8948363/1500-accidents-and-incidents-on-UK-wind-farms.html
I’m surprised at how watertight Japanese cars are. Most of Detroit’s finest would be boat anchors long before the video ended, my F-150 4×4 included. From what I saw, going along for the ride seemed to be the safest of all options. Swimming with pallets and trucks doesn’t look healthy.

In this article Ezra Levant calls on PM Harper to fire the idiot pipeline bureaucrat in charge of the Gateway Pipeline review because she has opened it up to anyone anywhere in the world. She is getting submissions from OPEC members etc. Fire her Harper…. http://www.torontosun.com/2011/12/09/fire-pipeline-bureaucrat
Sultan Knish:
“Towards the end of last month, the UK launched a nationwide manhunt or womanhunt, in coordination with online activists, Labour politicians and the police to bring the most feared criminal in the islands to justice. The lady, whose last name is appropriately enough West, will be spending Christmas in prison away from her three children. Her crime was to engage in some abrasive taunts with the denizens of the New Britain complete with obscenities and be videotaped doing it.
“(Emma) West was hunted down, tips were solicited from the public, Ed Miliband, the leader of the Labour opposition, who always manages to wear the face of a well-meaning idiot, retweeted the “important appeal” to track down a woman who was threatening the nation by shouting on a tram that the Poles, Nicaraguans and Blacks should go back where they came from.”
(…)
“…around a week or so later the very generous Judge Robert Brown freed four Muslim women who beat a native British woman senseless while shouting racial slurs at her, judging that it was only their inexperience with alcohol that led them to misbehave. The Romans used to say In Vino Veritas, but in New Britain if you’re Muslim and drunk you get a free pass on assault.
“Emma West shouting, ‘What has this country come to? A load of black people and a load of ****ing Polish,’ merits a nationwide manhunt, but beat a native woman senseless while shouting, ‘Kill the white slag’ and the kindly English judge will be sure to see your side of it. Similarly smash the windows of Jewish stores and you get more judicial kindness, but say the wrong thing about Nicaraguans on a tram and you can expect to be sent to jail for ‘your own protection’.”
Read the whole thing here. And if you’re in the mood for a smug, sanctimonious recitation of received, politically correct “wisdom” about how *great* it is that a tired, grumpy white mother was arrested and detained for a few grumpy words on a tram, and had her children taken away from her, read this British blogger’s post, and some of the comments underneath. Grrrr…
EBD, I read most of the material in your links and besides being very saddening, the information just confirms in my mind that Britain is slowly but surely going down the drain and will not be recognizable in a few decades.
This is the ultimate aim of the left.
From an article, “The Divided Conservative Mind” by John Hinderaker:
“Professor Paul Rahe provides additional historical context to our current situation in ‘The return of John Lindsay.’ Professor Rahe offers a glimmer of optimism:
“ ‘. . . To this analysis, we can add one more item. Barack Obama has done for the United States what John Lindsay did for the city of New York. He has brought us to the edge of bankruptcy, and he has made us look into the abyss – and he has compounded the problem by saddling us with Obamacare, which grows less popular with time….
‘I have said it before, and I will say it again. Barack Obama is a gift to the friends of liberty. He is the sort of man who gives a bad cause a bad name.’ ”
You can say that again! http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2011/12/the-divided-conservative-mind.php
But EBD, that post was written by a “Diva nerd with attitude. Potty-mouthed polymath and pocket genius, eventually to be PhD”. What a fascinating person he/she/it must be! Someone like that is obviously very fearless and cutting edge; he/she/it is a self-professed “free-thinker”, so these are obviously very original and valuable opinions.

don’t do that again, now I need to go wash my brain, on the deep rinse setting.

Lookout I knew this would happen even before he was elected. He is Carter but with malice.
Is Brian Topp really this much of a putz or is he just pretending to be one to win the NDP leadership? A modest proposal for Harper: Why not ethical landmines?
“The case, wittily concocted by a Sun News television comedian, is that our government’s determination to produce ever more carbon and to profit from it is “ethical,” because Canada is a good country. Not like bad countries, like Iran or Saudi Arabia. We’re a nice democracy. So any product we produce is “ethical.”
This being so, perhaps when he returns from disgracing our country in Durban, the Environment Minister can be given a new mandate. In addition to being a global salesman for carbon, Peter Kent can take on a new ethical sales job: Let’s get into ethical landmines.”
EclectEcon:
“Salim Mansur has recently published a book on multiculturalism, The Delectable Lie, published by Mantua Books. He was in Regina, Saskatchewan, last week, speaking about and debating the topic with Khurram Awan. Salim Mansur is a professor of political science at The University of Western Ontario and, as regular readers of Eclectecon know, a good friend. Khurram Awan is an attorney who worked for a group of Muslims in their human rights cases against Rogers Communications, Maclean’s magazine, and writer Mark Steyn.
“The deck was clearly stacked against Mansur, who has been described as a modern, moderate Muslim. There was virtually no advertising of the event at the university, despite my pleas that the event be advertised widely. And it appeared that about 80% or so of the audience was made up of friends of Awan….”

I read Mansur’s book while on vacation a few weeks ago. I found it to be heavy-slogging initially but it came into it’s own early on.
All I can say is that it’s a must read for every Canadian.
In my reply to james, I’ve just quoted Dylan Thomas and Emily Dickenson re my utter distatse for Obama, from the beginning.
My comment’s being held. (I don’t have time to figure out why.)
???
I hope it gets released.
It’s funny that Topp’s attempt at being ironic completely fails it. If the US were buying landmines from Iran and we offered them an alternative then of course we could call them “ethical landmines”.
Watching Goldhawk today (on Attiwapiskat) it was ridiculous the bias and one-sided ‘opinion’ displayed. One comment I found to be truly outrageous was from some Ryerson Prof (Pamela?) who is of First Nations decent. When asked about the DeBeers mine, she stated that the mine only employed very few people, yet reading column by John Ivison earlier in wk,he said they had employed over 500,but were now down to around 100.Hmm,wonder why? This Prof.said they were ‘low-level positions, not CEO’s!’and not well paying.
Being the spouse of an old ‘tramp-miner’ that worked at numerous mines near reserves,I know first hand how that works. The mines are ‘encouraged’ to hire off reserve,as well as pay the reserve for right to mine there. The last mine hubby worked at has hired lots of First Nations fellows and gals, and very few of them stuck it out. They came to work high..or habitually ‘sick’..then wonder why they are let go.BTW,these ‘low-paying’ mining jobs, with bonus would earn one OVER $100,000/yr for full-time employment!I just wish someone in the msm would point some of this stuff out.

I HATED HIM ON SIGHT AND SOUND, and would be about to put my dog whistle to my lips and blow him off the face of Christmas . . .” (I wish! For the literal minded here, that’s meant figuratively.)
But, I’ve mainly kept my utter disdain and loathing to myself “in polite company”, by which I’m surrounded, so enthralled have they been with this dangerous impostor.
And how about Emily Dickenson’s poem, “Snake”?
Isn’t this a prefiguring of Obama: “ . . . But [I] never met this fellow,/Attended or alone,/ Without a tighter breathing,/ And zero at the bone”?
