The evidence against this trio seems pretty strong so I think all defendants will be convicted. Then it will be entertaining to watch the court twist itself into contortions to avoid giving the mother of the three murdered girls any serious jail time. Will she be deemed to have been terrorized into being a murderer by the men in the family? Will it be some mysterious hormonal influence? Or will it be .. tadaah …the Lillian Getkate defense. That’s a “dissociative state of mind” that let Getkate beat a murder rap, get convicted of manslaughter than get sentenced to community service for killing her husband in Ottawa about 15 years ago.

It was an honour killing, according to the father; and sons as well take the honour of their family name just as seriously. Mass murder (oops, honour killing) obviously doesn’t dishonour the family name in their warped minds.
What went on in the their home in Montreal was domestic abuse based solely on their cultural background and religious beliefs. That isn’t what they’re being tried for.
Knowing the area well, I can’t imagine the need for high security. Very simple to cordon off that portion of the road and well in the open. Unless, of course, the police have been receiving threats.

Am I missing something? Since when did the planned murder of an individual become something deserving of exception and special consideration? A man- a father who should have given his very life for his children- plotted and carried out the death of his former wife and daughters. The conclusion should be simple- life in prison.
