  1. The topic which is discussed in this forum is absolutely correct.
How is it conceivable that Canadians cannot grasp this obvious fact?
I don’t agree with everything the government is doing either, but gun control is not one of them.

Because we are being lied to at every turn by people with a political and a monetary motivation, is why. They arranged this so they could steal money and get votes. Most of the things government does boil down to this situation, if you dig into things hard enough. Windmills spring to mind here in DumbTario. Same exact deal.
News gathering and dissemination in this country is controlled by the Liberal Party, in a diffuse, “Old Boy” style network of mutual consensus. That’s why idiot things like Gun Control gain traction in the public discourse and get enacted into law.
The answer to that problem is pointing and laughing, which C. Langmann has done so beautifully. That study is a perfect piece of pointed, razor sharp mockery in the form of science. “Look at what IDIOTS you hired to run this place” pretty much, and I love it!
We can all multiply and leverage his effort by jamming this study in front of every official and newsie we can reach. Not because of hope that they will act in an enlightened way, because that ain’t -never- going to happen. They aren’t enlightened people, they are venal, vain and arrogant sons of b1tche$.
No, the result we can get is to make them -afraid-. Two billion dollars wasted on something that not only didn’t work, it couldn’t work, and they -knew- that going it. We show the ruling class of Toronto lawyers in this country we are going to hang that on them, they’ll MOVE.
I’ll be interested to see what Davenport comes up with in response to this. If anything. I’ve noticed she doesn’t comment on things where there’s no room for niggling, wiggling and prevarication. A social policy catastrophe this large, by her guys, my money says she’ll run like a deer.

  3. How many Canadians opposed to this hugely expensive Liberal Failure have written to their MP demanding not just the cancellation of Long Gun Registry but that Harper keep his word and throw out c-68 as well. Because he has now changed his recorded promise to end c-68 to just ending the registry. If he ends it all and brings back the FAC system that is all we need. A background check, a gun safety course and get your FAC. One of the most objectional parts of Gun Control he intends to keep is the safe storage legislation which means a cop can still search without a warrant in Canada. Get writing and phoning.

  4. RFB, if the wider implications of this study can be believed (and they can) then the FAC system is just as much a waste of time and money as the gun registry.
ANY regulation on the sale of firearms beyond the obvious dictated by common sense (you don’t sell to drunks, drug addicts, crazy people and little kids) is a waste of time and money.
Gun regulations are an opportunity for politicians to look like Forceful Men of Action. They are for guys like David Miller to be seen out there on tv Doing Something About Crime, without having to really discomfit themselves by doing anything.
So if the entire book-full of BS was ruled unconstitutional and chucked out, nothing bad would happen. Nothing. At all.
Except the murder rate would go down. As would rape and robbery. That might be bad for some people.

  5. Phantom, then you agree with the FAC. It consisted of a criminal background check, and proof that you had taken a gun safety course, pretty basic. It cost $10 and did not expire. I think that is as basic as it gets.

  6. This study illustrates what has been stated many times that laws only influence non-criminals…especially when real criminals have fire arms charges waived in plea bargaining….
It must remembered that governements (especially Police) either have or seek a monopoly on the use of force. IMO Police chiefs are largely leftist appointees…preselected/pre-screened…”the long walk through the institutions”……….
Joe Arapaio is an anomoly…Dubchek is the standard…
The tesxtbook example is the current situation in the US….Fast and Furious illustrates part of an attempted coup d’etat in the US….the branding of the TEA PARTY as violent….the problem is the bolsheviks started marching on Moscow in August rather than March….they had a rigid time-table with their revolution…but like the Nazi’s made a fatal delay…in launching their OWS plot….in October and without the public being disarmed.
The massive plot, that fast and Furious involves, illustrates the priority and risks these ploters are willing to take.
Then there was that freudian slip AliBama made about forming a “civilian security force as large and well equiped as the military”…
The major check on their agenda is the 2nd Amendment and an armed public.

  7. Anyone can clearly see that any increase in gun violence in a society is directly linked to criminal activity. North America since 1970 has been subject to mass increases of drug usage and open border migrations of ethnic criminal gangs all of which is supported and fuelled by the “Liberal” left.
Any criminal gang/ gun violence in Canada and the US is a Black, Asian, and Latino community issue first and foremost. There are a few white criminal gangs that have used firearms in a limited capacity but nothing in comparison to the ethnic gangs. These types of murders are generally a criminal, then a cultural issue, not a gun issue itself.
Regardless, these people do not register guns regardless of what the law demands. They also get their guns regardless of what laws or bans are in place, Mexico and the UK are perfect examples of this. It was reported last week that nearly 500 guns have disappeared from police arsenals across Canada over the last few years with the registry in place. Who do you think is in possession of these guns today, a duck hunter? An 80 year old Christian white lady afraid to leave her apartment in what is now the “bad black” part of Toronto perhaps? No, they disappeared into the hand of someone intent on using them for criminal activity against the citizens of Canada.
The only thing Gun “Control” accomplishes is the disarmament of innocent law abiding citizens to be left as easier prey for armed criminal predators. It accomplishes nothing else. Society is not safer; it has become defenceless, nothing more.

  8. When hey returned from fighting WWII, the first thing Stalin did was disarm all he soldiers, second he murdered most of the POWs sent the rest to gulags – he terrorized the citizens with KGB thugs: pretty soon all the people were pacified and he slave camp returned. People looked back on the war days as a golden time.
‘An unarmed man is a subject, an armed man is a citizen’. Stalin was a terrorist and he had a gang of terrorists working with him, soldiers with guns would have brought his reign of terror to a bloody halt, yet they gave up their guns…trained to obay…trusting that ‘things would be better ‘ after winning a war against Stalin’s pal Hitler.
Our honorable PM has no such record, he is waiting for Freedom lovers to make a move so he can follow up – we are wasting time waiting for action from a group of new M.P.s who are just getting used to having their noses in the big trough.
Everyone who cares should do what RFB suggests, IMO – write letters and demand – bring up historical facts and ask the obvious question: is Switzerland a criminal state? Use past quotes. Conservatives have this four year window to demand, we must use it or loose it all.
    Good comments everyone.

No, I don’t agree with it. (I’m not putting you down, I hasten to add, I just don’t agree with the FAC concept.)
Because, as demonstrated by Dr. Langmann’s study and others I’ve read before, criminal background checks and gun safety courses contribute -nothing- to public safety. They have -zero- positive effect. They are just more waste-motion for public servants to impede you with.
Buying a gun is the same as buying an air nailer. They are both tools, they both require some basic knowledge of common sense safety rules, and they both injure the odd imbecile who can’t follow basic, common sense safety rules.
Do we have compulsory safety courses and background checks for air nailers? the correct answer is, “not yet”.

  10. nfo – ‘chiefs’ seldom do any real work. Most policemen say the registry is useless and dangerous.
