When it comes to fashionable causes, oil-soaked birds take precedence over Saudi girls murdered for having a boyfriend, or women jailed for getting behind the wheel.

I look forward to seeing this ad on CBC…during The National…
From the grope and flail article on the same subject.
“If Canada’s ambition is to be no worse than Saudi Arabia, then the Conservative government should be prepared to defend that before the people of Canada,” said Greenpeace spokesman Keith Stewart.
What an idiot.
What exactly is our government supposed to be defending before the people of Canada? And who asked Greenpeace for an opinion?
Where is Keith Stewart when thousands of birds including protected species are killed by windmills to produce electricity? Absent of course, so once again Greenpeace has no credibility.
Howie, as far as Greenpeace is concerned, Stewart comes from an organization full of twits like himself, funded by shelter foundations, and from leftist cultists who ‘tithe’ monthly to the secular religion of envirofacism
I guess Greenpeace has certain membership standards. But instead of minimal, seems to me they set the exclusionary threshhold at the triple-digit IQ level.
Idiots have no ability to use reason and common sense…so easily misled by the pretty people and eco-charlatons!
I only hope these intellectual bimbos at some point realize the crippling constraints they’ve imposed on our economies. You should be so proud!
When it comes to promoting women’s issues, my vote is on Kate..along with her Grandad’s .22…
To show support to my mother, grandmothers and of course my beautiful wife and daughters I will from now on only buy oil from Canada.
Maybe Canada needs a day(like Red Friday) for people to wear black to support our women and our ethical oil. Just sayin’
There was a story in the Globe and Mail today which started…
“A British group that opposes the tar sands is warning Prime Minister David Cameron, who will visit Parliament Hill on Thursday, that it does not serve him well to get too close to his canadian counterpart, Stephen Harper.
In a strongly worded release, the UK Tar Sands Network demands that the “British government stop defending Canada’s criminal record on climate change.”
The story went on to say that
“We would just like to say that David Cameron needs to look at how far he is sidling up to Canada in terms of pushing tar sands oil at a time when people in Europe and the UK are opposed to tar sands extraction,” Gemma Long, a campaigner with the group, said in a telephone interview from Britain”
Notice how the G&M simply said Gemma Long was “a campaigner with the group”….BUT, a quick Google of the name Gemma Long reveals the truth. She is in fact a “SENIOR ASSOCIATE WITH NORTON ROSE LLP” in London, England. In other words, she is with the SAME law firm that threatened to sue the CTV for airing the Ethical Oil ads.

This stinks to high heaven.
Bruce I believe it was grandpas 30 ought 6. If’n I remember correctly.
Bruce, if’n I remember correctly it was a 30 ought 6
Leftists don’t really care about much, but absolute power and control over the lives and deaths of people, that they care about.
That’s why it’s hard for them to criticize the Saudi King, the Dear Leader of North Korea or the Castro Brothers family dictatorship – Leftists admire their absolute power.
What I like about this issue, is it is a “Kobayashi Maru” scenario for the leftards.
No winning scenario for them, what pyhrric choice to make…..without the head exploding…..I suspect they make the choice that FEELS good….
I hope the Wild Rose wins Alberta, then we might have a chance. Shine the light on who’s getting paid for what. Seems to me that the professional idealouges don’t protest for free.
It’s a red herring, of course. We’re never going to produce enough oil to put the Saudis out of business. The best we can do is keep the prices a bit lower for a bit longer. So sure, let’s open up the oil sands, and oil shales, and whatever other sources we can find – but let’s not pretend it has anything to do with “ethics”, or that it’ll make a lick of difference to the women in the Middle East.
Moreover, you’re opening yourself up to attack. Sooner or later some lefty pundits will scrape a few brain cells together and point out that the only way to put a stranglehold on the Saudis is to make oil obsolete by switching to alternate fuels. And they’ll be completely right. Of course, they’ll ignore the fact that this is completely impractical for at least a couple decades, just like you ignore the fact that your little boycott is completely ineffectual. In the end, your peanut gallery will cheer for you, and theirs will cheer for them, while the rest of us facepalm at the absurdity of it all.
Joey said “This stinks to high heaven”. Do you ever have that right. We need someone to find the link between the ME oil interests and the anti oil sands, anti Keystone ET AL crowd.
Hey Alex- do tell when Al Gore gives up his private jets and limousines, [douche]
It would seem that not only are the Saudi’s threatening CTV with legal action, they have bought them out, lock, stock and barrel. Or at least this quote from a CTV talking head this week would seem to point that way,
“Is Canada really more ethical than Saudi Arabia?”
This was not a setup question to start a discussion, she really wanted to know.
dwright:
Are you actually a retarded, or do you just play one on da inter-tubes?
It’s a clear cut issue, despite the efforts of various halfwits to find their nuanced way through it. They’re on the wrong side, and it’s becoming achingly obvious. It’s why a POS like alex can’t answer a simple question about algore. If it’s a crisis, why doesn’t he act like it?
As for making a difference, well, time will tell. But, meanwhile, at least we’re not actively supporting the problem. And it’s odd to watch these usually self-righteous people default to a nihilist, “what’s the point?”, argument.
Ask yourself, who protests? Kids, and old weirdos who like rubbing up against kids. How come the 20 somethings from a decade ago – who tore Halifax apart at the G7 confrence not 10 years ago – are no longer in the mix? They’ve been replaced with brand new idealistic 20 something. The old 20 somethings are now 30 something with mortgages and kids. They’re out at the malls shopping and buying….stuff.
So predictable.
There’s a point here that Tasha’s article hints at. The Left invented this business of ethical trade. They started it with various things like Fair Trade Coffee and so on. Now they see their own argument being used against them. And as Alex demonstrates, it infuriates them.
Alex: it stings, doesn’t it?
As for your comment about the Lefties, haven’t you already had enough of grinding up food to make fuel that you want more of it in the future? Moreover, you must surely be aware of how the global oil market works. Saudi Arabia is the reserve capacity. They regulate their production to ensure that the price doesn’t collapse. More oil on the market means a price decline if the Saudis don’t cut production.
And as for lefty brain cells, they’ve already demonstrated beyond question that they don’t have any.
AJ, I saw the same drivel on CTV. The only things demonstrated there was that the newscaster is an empty-headed, moral-relativist twit and that Scott Reid is completely bankrupt of any ethics whatsoever.
let me fix that for ya phil,
“rightists don’t really care about much, but absolute power and control over the lives and deaths of people, that they care about.
That’s why it’s hard for them to criticize the Saudi King,”
you dont think the american right is in bed with the saudis? why does george h w bush (ie george senior) make far more money as a paid consultant for the saudis than he ever did as president? hmmmm?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_of_Bush,_House_of_Saud
anybody? anybody want to explain the 3 decades long cozy arangement between the bushes starting with george sr in the CIA and the saudis up to the very present??
what a bunch of faggot hypocrits you people are.
@alex, you’re right about making oil obsolete, thus, removing the one and only money generating, non-religious resource open to Saudi Arabia. However, until that day, society needs oil…So the question remains, while we still need oil and its by-products, to whom would you rather pay money–the Middle-East or to Canada?
and if anyone thinks all that shale oil in alberta and north dakota or wherever it is will save your ass and put us in the position of snubbing our noses at the saudis, do tell, what is to prevent them from simply buying it all and sitting on it much like the debeers outfit and the diamond industry??? hmmm??? answer that you bunch of saudi dicklickers.
little ol’ moi
‘……..saudis, do tell, what is to prevent them from simply buying it all and sitting on it much like the debeers outfit and the diamond industry???…….”
The simple fact that although the Saudi’s have vast wealth…even they don’t have deep enough pockets…besides they are invested elsewhere.
“faggot hypocrits[sic]” and “saudi[sic] dicklickers”
Questionable literacy, penis obsession, accusations of homosexuality (which my leftist betters have always told me indicates repressed homosexual tendencies)
Hmmm…sounds like you’d fit right in with the Saudi religious police. The Mutaween are always looking for a few good men!
Ethical oil was conceived to twit the leftards who are protesting the development of the Athabasca oil sands as being “the dirtiest oil”. Ezra has shown that it is more ethical than oil that is produced in many other countries, especially dictatorships with state-owned oil companies. Although Saudi Arabia is a kingdom, it is severely autocratic and misogynistic.
It is at once interesting and concerning that Saudi Arabia would attempt to stifle ads that compare human rights in Canada with Saudi Arabia and other muslim countries, and that CTV would kowtow to them.
Re: Ken (Kulak)
Ken check out Levants book Ethical Oil. The links you are asking about are listed in the book. Happy reading.
Can you pass a piss test? No?
Then you can join Greenpeace!
A world without oil isn’t coming anytime soon, but a world without rights is still too many people’s reality.
And since when has the issue of rights ever been a consideration for fascists?
what is to prevent them from simply buying it all and sitting on it much like the debeers outfit and the diamond industry??? hmmm???
The People’s Republic of China.
http://tinyurl.com/y7tv4v8
And that’s just one of the PRC’s buy-ins to the Alberta oils sands.
The Saudis could buy as much of the rest as they want and the PRC would just keep developing the parts they own rights to full steam ahead.
Since oil is fungible the Saudi purchase wouldn’t make any difference in the near term.
Did you know that the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand(Anglosphere) produce the majority of the exportable food in the world and it takes 11,000 gallons of water to grow one bushel of wheat and Saudi is a water poor nation?
ok oz, so why dont these countries do just that?
because lobbyists are on the side of the saudis? hmmm ???
so not only is the right a bunch of faggots they’re also black belt chickenshyts.
little ol’ troll who can’t find the shift key said:
“what is to prevent them from simply buying it all and sitting on it…”
Geography. Duh. Oil sands are here in Canada, Saudis are in Africa. They can buy it all they want but they can’t take it home with them.
As to putting them out of business, isn’t MooMoo QDaffy out of business right now? Why did that suddenly happen, d’ya think? Nice little revolution, a few air strikes, no more Saudi princes.
so not only is the right a bunch of faggots they’re also black belt chickenshyts.
~little ol’ moi
Using fa@@ots as a pejorative?
Nice.
Gee and I thought that homosexuals were a Leftist constituency that warranted being treated with equality and respect.
Seems hypocritical, but then you’d have to have principles in the first place in order to act hypocritical.
“Saudis are in Africa”
ha ha ha !!!
looks like fandoom needs a geography lesson.
“…. if anyone thinks all that shale oil in alberta and north dakota or wherever it is will save your ass and put us in the position of snubbing our noses at the saudis…”
Excuse me, we produce far more oil & gas than we require for our own use, so it is exported for a profit, like cars in S. Ontario are to our trading partner, the USA.
Oil sands oil and shale gas will likewise be exported to the outside world if we get our way and you in Ontario & Quebec can send your money to Hugo Chavez, or the Saudis for all we care out here, for yours. Our exports are causing the Saudis concern because we drive down the price and eat up market share that they would like to keep to themselves. Their reserves won’t last for ever and even now the Saudis are resorting to enhanced recoveries to boost declining production.
Central Canadians benefit from the jobs created and a lower price for fuel. You seem troubled with that scenario. You would prefer that we collapse our economy with high priced energy, or shipping Canadian dollars overseas than to keep the jobs, production and profits here?
I might also point out that the Saudis are experiencing competition with development of new oil fields in Iraq and yes, Iran, as well as off shore Brazil, Isreal, Cyprus, onshore expansion of shale oil and gas development in China, Asia, Europe and right here in North America.
I’m betting there is more future downstream production exspansion that will worry the Saudis even more on the amount of market share they feel that they will lose out on, that they felt compelled to step in and interfere with our free speech rights of one of our braodcasters in Canada.
Besides that, 19 Saudis flying airplanes into buildings in downtown New York didn’t help them one little bit. Whether the USA didn’t drive up the cost of oil world wide by attacking and destroying Saudi oil production as a result was probably a tough but smart move by the US.
I say North America explores, develops and markets it’s abundant reserves of oil, gas, coal and uranium to operate industry right here, rather than sending cash over seas to outside non-friendly regimes is a good idea. We do have the reserves and expertise to do so, despite what l’il ole troll feels about it.
DanBC, you’ve used a “Star Trek” reference to describe the leftist oil predicament. Sir, I salute you.
I think pride (along with arrogance and stupidity) are also in play here. I think leftists would rather chew off their legs than admit some basic truths so the preference for Saudi oil comes into play.
Whether one likes it or not, oil is the only fuel source that is practical and affordable. Saying one would rather prop up a regime like Saudi Arabia (and it is a regime) than get oil from Canada is necessary for the leftist’s sense of absolutism. The typical leftist would never admit that oil is necessary or that Canadian oil is far more ethical than Saudi oil. So, ignore the human rights abuses in Saudi Arabia and go after an easy target like Canada. It’s much better than admitting that at least in Canada, women aren’t treated like chattel. Not that leftists care about women or anything.
“Are you actually a retarded…”
Guess Trollex didn’t major in english.

OMG A TYPO! It’s the end of the world! Run away!
I know that you really want phantom to notice you, but this is the wrong way to get his attention. I hear he has a thing for naked guys covered in maple syrup – might want to give that a shot.
“I hear he has a thing for naked guys covered in maple syrup – might want to give that a shot”
Projecting again, eh alex? That’s great, if it helps you get through the day. No need to share publicly, though. It’s better for you to keep your fantasies private, as – truly – we’re not that interested.

Looks like little ol’ troll has never seen a map of Africa with Saudi Arabia on one side of the Red Sea and Egypt/Sudan on the other. Its close enough for government work.
Still no word on how a bunch of glorified Bedouins are going to “sit on” oil in frozen Alberta.
“Projecting again, eh alex?”
*sigh*
I know I keep pointing out that you guys are a bunch of mental-midgets, but even I didn’t think you were pathetic enough to resort to the “I know you are but what am I” response.
“but even I didn’t think you were pathetic enough to resort to the “I know you are but what am I” response.”
